Me and my friends loved our stay here, very private, feet away from your own private beach where you can swim with sea turtles, awesome! Owners were very kind and generous. Close to market and restaurants. Also close by is waimea bay and so much more. Would love to stay here again if they would have us again :) Mahalo
Owner response:Aloha Maria, It's great to hear that you and your friends had a great time on the North Shore. Thanks for choosing us. Please come back and stay with us again if you plan on being on the North Shore in the future. Mahalo -jim

We loved it! The property is just what the description states. It is charming, secure, lovely grounds, beautiful beach and a perfect getaway from crazy Waikiki. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Grocery and shopping nearby. Only regret.. we weren't there long enough!

Accommodation met all expectations. The cottage was very clean, nicely furnished and contained all the things required for us to just get on with our holiday. The location was as described and it was lovely to be only a few steps away from such a beautiful stretch of beach. We had a fantastic time in the water with turtles close by. We very much appreciated the owner agreeing to our requests at very short notice. We had a memorable first time stay in Haiwaii at this property and would recommend it to anyone.
Owner response:Aloha Paul and family, It's great to hear that you were happy with the accommodation and had a great time on the North Shore. Thanks for choosing us. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Mahalo -jim

This holiday location is just perfect. The house is fully equipped and there is no wish left open. We never have expected a secluded white sandy beach just a stone's throw away and really enjoyed swimming with the sea turtles. We highly recommend this place to other people looking for a luxurious holiday home close to the beach. We will never forget.
Owner response:Aloha Volker, Thanks for staying with us it was pleasure to have you stay with us. I'm happy to hear that you all had a great time and the house met and exceeded your expectations. Hope to see again in the future. Mahalo, Jim

Over all we enjoyed our stay at "The Cove at Jocko's Surf Spot". We anticipated having the opportunity to sit up off the beach in the grassy yard in the evenings, which unfortunately your not allowed to. We felt as though we were intruding when passing the owners front door ( 2 to 3 feet) to access the beach. We missed the feeling of privacy as we have experienced at previous rentals. During the day and evening there is road noise from Kamehameha Highway. Difficult to have the windows open if you want to hear the ocean from the rental. The home is clean and comfortable, with a new refrigerator too, which the owner Jim, gladly replaced the first day we were there. Jim was great to talk with, and is a gracious host that shared some of the fruit from his yard with us. Again, a nice place to stay, if you understand your not on the beach, and the property you’re leasing. Thanks for the use of your home Jim.
Owner response:Aloha Jeff and friends, Thank you for staying with us. It was a pleasure to have wonderful guests like yourself stay. Guests are always welcome to enjoy the front and watch the ocean. We ask guests to respect the privacy of the front house when the owner is home on the weekends and occasional evenings. The owner is not home during the week. We would like the guests to feel at home while staying with us and enjoy the amenities on the property. On the North Shore, most ocean front homes are along Kam Highway. There is a 8' rock wall between the highway and the property which is nicely landscaped with trees and shrubs to filter out most of the noise from Kam Highway. Thank you for the kind words about the house. There are two houses situated on this oceanfront property as mentioned on the web site. The rental house is 100 feet from the beach which is why we offer such affordable rates for our guests all year round. We are happy to hear that overall you enjoyed your vacation! Mahalo

First of all thanks a lot to Jim and his family for such a nice house. The location of the house is absolutely great. It is enough close to Honolulu and the airport for the purposes of evening's promenade but also enough remote from crazy Waikiki. North Shore is place for relaxing and Waikiki - for a hangout and parties. The house is very clean and fully equipped. Reviewing a description of the house we supposed it would be more remote from the owner's house. In fact it is located just behind the owner's on the second line from the ocean. However, there is no noise, I suppose neither guests nor owners disturb each other. The best thing of this property is a beach (therefore we have chosen it among other houses without owner's houses nearby). The beach is very private, long and beautiful. Most of time we were four people on the whole beach. We have founded places where it was possible to swim without special shoes, i.e. the entrance into the ocean was sandy and without stones. On the beach we have used bodybars, chairs, mats and towels kindly provided by the owner, i.e. it was very comfortable to bathe in the sun. One day lots of turtles come to the beach just near the house - it was amazing, we have touched them and made thousand of photos! Rental car is "must-have", because there are no stores and restaurants within a working distance. Overall, very nice house with a great great great beach! The best choice for it price.
Owner response:Aloha Maria and Family, Thanks for staying with us on the North Shore. It was a pleasure having you. I'm glad to hear that you were happy with the house and the beach. Please come stay with us again! Mahalo -jim

Found the property with no problems due to great directions and check in in formation. Parking was as advertised (covered). The house itself was spotless and very well equipped. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and found everything we could possible need. Although we didn't use it the grill was clean as well. We did make the mistake of leaving some food out for an hour or so and discovered the local ant population but after not making that mistake again we didn't see any other bugs in the house for the rest of our stay. The house stayed cool with a combination of fans and an AC unit in the living room. The wifi was easy to connect to and decently face (although it tended to fade when sitting on the couch). The beach is about 100 feet away via a short path and stairs. There is a park several houses down to the left but it's just around a point of land and the area in front of the house is very quiet. The only negative thing we encountered was that on two of the nights we were there we heard somebody (something?) tapping on one of the house windows and some banging and thumping noises coming from the attached washer/dryer shed. I suppose it could have been an animal. We never really felt unsafe, but it was slightly unsettling. Over all I'd highly recommend this property due to it's great location, its cleanliness and how well outfitted it is.
Owner response:Aloha Ethan and Family, I'm glad to hear that the house met or exceeded your expectations. Regarding the tapping sound, we have never heard anyone comment about that, probably the wind or the washing machine would be my best guess. Thanks for staying with us. Please come and stay again with us if you come to the North Shore again. Mahalo -jim

This was our first trip to Hawaii and we had a great time! The house is quaint and clean. It was just enough room for 4 adults and 1 baby. House is well stocked with everything you will need with grocery stores nearby for anything else you forgot. Ocean view/beach access are fantastic. Perfect place for a family to stay. Only downside was waves were generally too large to swim, but as we learned (first time Hawaii visitors) this is the North Shore in the winter. Found PLENTY of other beaches within short drive while exploring the island. Would most definitely recommend this property to others! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was our first trip to Hawaii and we were not disappointed. Oahu was amazing but what made our trip was staying here. This well equipped cottage is in an ideal location. It is only a short drive to everywhere on the north shore but far enough away so you were not in the hussle and bussle!!!!! Access to the beach was more or less 100 metres walk from your front door. The beach itself was fantastic with surf breaks left and right. The apartment was extremely clean and contained everything you needed. We just wish we could have stayed longer! We would definately come back and stay should we ever come back to Oahu. Thankyou.
Owner response:Aloha Danielle, It's great to hear that your holiday on the North Shore was the best, and that you were very pleased with the cottage. It was a pleasure having you. I hope we will see you again soon. Mahalo, -Jim

Having booked on line and coming all the way from australia, the reviews really helped us so much that we wanted to return the favour and 'pay it forward' to potential new renters of this great property. WE JUST LOVED IT! The little cottage was so cosy, welcoming and homely. IT's not big, pretentious, and flamboyant, but that's what we loved; the intimacy and attention to the finer things like the beautiful pillows, bed sheets (linen), really comfortable mattres, just came together to make our experiance so very enjoyable. I surfed up and down the coastline of the North Shore Oahu, and met locals from all around and they all want to live RIGHT HERE! This is the spot they all said 'If i had the money, 'thats where id be' and this was from people all the way up to Sunset Beach and realtors too!... so even the local's (who know best) give this location a 10 out of 10. We met Jim the owner who is there 'on site' and had no worries at all with my 2 daughters (which is always a concearn for an overly protective father of 2 girls!!!) and in fact my wife found if quiet comforting just knowing that someone trustworthy was 'around' if there were any problems, without compromising our privacy in anyway. We only had an initial small problem connecting the internet, but we rang the team at Hawaii beach homes, (who i have to give a great big wrap to Sarah, Amy and the team - they are just awesome and so caring to make your trip ideal), who resolved the issue immediatly and professionally, and we even had a follow up call direct from the owner - which we found to be a really nice touch, and show how much these people care about your holiday being as special as possible. Great for the kids, we saw turtles out the front of the house, and I surfed out the front while the family played on the beach! I dont know how much more i can compliment the location & property, the realtors and the owner, but suffice to say that having been in real estate for 20 years personally I cant recomend this property highly enough. So as long as you are happy to be set back from the beach without overlooking the water views, it;s great! Any doubts call me personally, Steve Evans Managing Director & C.E.O. The house was immaculate, as advertised by the booking service. The kitchen was fully equipped with plenty of space, cooking equipment and dishes. The location was excellent, walking distance to several surf breaks, and also secure, due to the electric driveway gate. Very private, very quiet. A/C was a plus for reducing the temperature and humidity in the heat of the day.

Thanks Jim. For anyone looking for a true Hawaiian vacation, this is it. We loved the little cabin, the outside shower, the beach, the waves, the turtles, the shave ice, and of course the sunsets every night. The short distance to starbucks and foodland, as well as Haleiwa, make it the perfect spot. The cabin was great and the beach was quiet and beautiful. If you're looking for Honolulu type action, this is not for you. We did see others on the beach, most all of them were just passing by. We hope to return someday and will be looking to stay at Jim's place.

We could not have enjoyed our stay more. "Our little home" was as clean as could be. It was light, airy, and fresh. The beds were so soft and comfortable. Plenty of room for storage for the five of us. The shower inside and outside were great (as I have stayed many places that have little water pressure). We were able to keep our laundry washed up, always a plus to me. Who wants to take dirty clothes home? Landscaping was beautiful, and very well maintained. The beach seemed to be just for us. We saw lots of turtles!! Yes, it was a few steps, but that didn't bother me one bit. We loved Haleiwa, Waimea Bay, Three Tables, and it's all just a very short drive. We can hardly wait to visit again! Thanks so much for a wonderful visit!!

Aloha Jim, We LOVE this house because it is clean, well maintained, and in a great location. The sunsets are beautiful and it's a good size, with plenty of room for our family of 6 (bigger than I thought it would be). The North Shore is a great area to get away from the crowds of Waikiki, yet is within minutes of Hale'iwa, Wiamea Bay and many other area attractions. We had some good meals at Breakers Restaurant, Cholo's Mexican Grill, Jameson's by the Sea and, of course, Matsumoto's Shaved Ice. Jim is a wonderful, accommodating host, which made our stay more enjoyable. Thanks, Jim, for the live aloe plant to help my husbands sunburn. The kids used it too! We hope to go back to Hawaii soon. I will definately book this house again and reccomend it to my friends and family! Much Mahalo, Cindy and Family

Aloha Jim! We had such a great time at your vacation house! We enjoyed not only the privacy of the house we were in, but also spending time talking with you and how helpful you were with any request that we had. Words can not describe how beautiful the property was right on the beach. This vacation home has everything that one could ever need, including kitchen and laundry amenties. We ended up doing beach towel laundry at least 4 or 5 times - you can not find this type of convenience in any hotel. The private beaches and ease of access to the beaches were incredible! We have stayed in Hawaii before (getting married in Maui) and the ability to go to the beach at any hour of the day or night was so wonderful. The outside dolphin shower was really nice too. As far as the roosters, we considered them our own special alarm clock so we did not miss the sunrises and peaceful mornings on the beach. To tell you the truth, I could not imagine anything to improve or change. The house had absolutely everything you could want and even helpful things that you did not even know you needed. This vacation home is so conveniently located to all the fun things to do on the North Shore (yea shaved ice and surfing in Hale'iwa) and all the other must do and see attractions on Oahu. It was a magical vacation for our whole group! Mahalo Jim - we will be back to see you.
Owner response:Aloha Brandon, Jamie, Melissa and Emily, Mahalo so much for staying with us, you all where a joy to have. I'm happy to hear that you had a great time and the house meet all your expectations. We hope to see you again soon. You may have to bring your alarm clock next time as we have got rid of the rooster in the neighbors yard. Mahalo, Jim

Our stay was plenty nice, but I think it is important to know if you are considering this property that the owner, Jim, is on the property almost all of the time. (I don't blame him, I probably would be as well.) The main house that Jim lives in has the nice view, etc.. The house being rented is in between the road and Jim's house - no ocean view - and you feel like you are in the maid's quarters on the property. You feel more like you are staying with Jim as a guest, rather than renting your own place. We ran into Jim several times a day and you have to walk within feet of his front door on your way to the beach. There is nothing very private about this property, although Jim is plenty nice. The washer and dryer were very nice, high quality. The kitchen was well equipped and the grill was new The beds are hard as a rock and the rooster next door wakes you up at 4am. However, the location right between Waimea Bay and Hale'iwa is hard to beat!

A fabulous place to stay! Easy access to the beach. Almost right in the middle between two beach access points so very few people on the beach, often none. Privacy is was very important to us so this was perfect. Our privacy was also respected by Jim (the owner). Although often at home, we rarely saw him and felt very comfortable in the yard or walking the few yards past the side of his house to the dozen steps down to the beach. A rooster often crowed early in the morning but, for anyone who has been to the North Shore of Oahu, you know that you're going to find wild chickens almost everywhere. The house was clean and comfortable with enough utensils for cooking and grilling. We've been to the North Shore and this the best we've experienced. A great location with easy access to shopping, restaurants, other beaches and trails. We hope to stay there again. Mahalo Jim, for a very comfortable stay.
Owner response:Aloha Jo, It was a pleasure to have you stay with us. I'm glad to hear that you had a great time and were happy with the house. We hope to see you again soon. After a few trips to Hawaii now, we have come to consider the island of Oahu our home away from home. The spirit of aloha is everywhere around you on the gorgeous North Shore, and Jim's property is no exception. We felt very welcome from the get-go and thoroughly enjoyed our most recent stay. The location is close to everything you could want or need, and both tourist and natural attractions are within minutes. It's hard not to adopt the laid-back lifestyle of the locals. Jim's property was beautifully landscaped and we spent many hours walking the beaches in front. So peaceful. The cottage was clean, equipped, and nicely decorated. We will be hard-pressed not to plan another trip back as soon as possible. Mahalo Jim for everything! Stephanie and Matt Poorman

Jim runs a tight ship here with a spotless home that is full of Aloha. The kitchen is way better equipped than most rentals, with a great selection of pots, pans and chef's knives. And not a cockroach in sight ever! Outdoors, the plantings are varied and beautiful and well maintained. There is a definite sense of privacy here, and a gated yard where kids can safely play and explore the multitude of Hawaiian critters. Whales breach, turtles nap and skinks abound at Jim's place. We'll be back!

Hi Jim; There is nothing better than staying in Hawaii on the North Shore in a beautiful home at a great price. I have visited Hawaii numerous times and it always costs a fortune and you do not always get the best accommodations. The privacy and proximity to the ocean is a perfect combination. The private beach and the beautiful views can not be had anywhere in Hawaii for this price. Our family enjoyed our stay so much that we are going to make your place our yearly destination. What you have done with the home is just fantastic. We were very comfortable and could not wait to spend the day exploring the beach and taking long walks along the practically vacant shore. I am a bit of a surfer myself and really enjoyed getting out in the surf and hardly encountered anyone else in the water. We just love it!! See you next year Jim. Gour and family

No turtles spotted, but lots of fun on the beach and watching the surfers. Thanks for sharing your home!

The property is very safe for children and my 4 and 10 yr olds were free to roam around catching lizards and exploring. Haleiwa and the north shore in general have the most beautiful beaches on oahu and we will be back next year. Mahalo Nick

Jim - thanks so much for sharing your home. It was the perfect location - Haleiwa is a great little northshore town, Waimea Bay just down the street, swimming with the turtles - we couldn't have found a better spot to spend the week. MAHALO!

Hi Jim, Thank you for your hospitality. We really enjoyed our vacation at your place in the North Shore. Your house is perfect; it surpasses all our expectations from the photos on your web site. The lovely garden, the large private property and the secluded beach in front was just what we needed. We enjoyed swimming and seeing the turtles. We were amazed to see a sea lion relaxing on the beach one morning as we strolled along the beautiful beach. It was really a memorial experience. We highly recommend your place. Christine and family

My family and I had a great week at Jim's place. I have two children, boy 11 and girl 9. Both enjoyed the beach and playing in the surf all day. While playing on the beach, we had many close encounters with the local sea turtle population which was an amazing experince. The place was newly renovated and spacious. We highly recommend staying there.
Owner response:Aloha James and Sherry, I'm glad you had a nice stay on the North Shore. Thanks for the nice comment. Hope to see you again. Best Regards, -Jim

We had a great time at the guesthouse. Jim is a fun guy and has a great house. We have been to the NorthShore 6+ times and this place rules especially for the price. I would recommend staying here.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Very private and secluded...practically a private beach. My fiance and i stayed for 8 days and wished it were longer.... the last day we actually found a place where the sea turtles lay on the beach... people obviously didn't know this or the place would be swarming with photo snapping tourist.... and its only about 150 yards to the left of the private beach access.. around the first rocky cluster there is a sandy area where they'll be. We disturbed the first two that we came across, and we watched them slowly waddle back into the surf. We continued on for about an hour where we saw more turtle feeding at a rocky point.. then on the way back the turtles returned and this time we just observed it sleep and it allowed us to touch it.... anyways its honestly a great place to stay and i highly recommend it. It was great for two but would easily sleep six. Jim is a nice guy too.thanks Jim!
