Zen Beach Retreat is a new, two-story, pristine home on a secluded, wide, sandy beach. Breathtaking ocean views and sunsets from large covered lanai, bedrooms, kitchen, living and dining rooms. Lovely tropical garden setting with lush green lawns surrounding the house. Our home is fully furnished with beautiful wood furniture, some of which are antiques.
Located just 15 minutes from historic Haleiwa Town and Turtle Bay Resort. Our house is located within minutes of three world-class surf breaks (Sunset, Pipeline, and Rocky Point).
Whether watching the humpback whales breaching, the Hawaiian spinner dolphins spinning, or napping/reading in the hammock or lounge chairs, this Hawaiian vacation will be unforgettable.
Studio is rented separately. Fully furnished with queen-size bed, wooden desk, dining table and kitchenette with two-burner hotplate, microwave, refrigerator, dishes, etc.

I live here on the North Shore of Oahu and the beauty is so incomparable I enjoy sharing it with guests. When I built this house in 1999 I planned it to be able to share with others.
I frequently travel to Africa where I teach in a school for Maasai girls. When I am away, my home is available for rent. When I am at home the studio which adjoins the house is available. The photo is from a climb up Mt Fuji in 2008.
Why the Owner Chose Sunset Beach
This is not a commercial vacation rental. It is my home which is available when I am traveling. It has all the comforts of home...because it is a home. I love living here at the beach, watching the sun sink into the ocean every night, watching the surf curl and flow onto the beach. In the winter we watch for whales blowing and breaching.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Being able to walk out morning or evenings without a jacket or sweater is a delight. The bike path in front of the house invites good walking or biking and good health. Strolling the beach, looking for shell, snooze in the hammock, provide respites for a hurried life. It's a short drive to Turtle Bay Resort which offers golf, horseback riding, beach dining and fine dining. In the winter the world class surfing competitions are held here on the North Shore and a walk from the house.

I hope you have a great trip to India. Thanks for following up with us about our stay. We ready had a great time. Your house was really perfect. It was so nice to stay in a real home – it made the stay on Oahu feel much more natural. Your house was immaculate, beautiful! The location – utterly amazing, you could not ask for a better view or access to the beach. Give me your place over a 5 star hotel any day! We had fun in the sea while we were there, mostly surfing on the south coast, snorkling at sharks cove and kiting at Mokulea. Of couse we also started the day with a run/swin to pipeline! I'd strongly recomend your house to anybody, we really could not have asked for a better house for our honeymoon. Fantastic!

We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful house for a week in August 2011. The location is perfect - close to the grocery store and a few restaurants, but far enough to have some peace. The beach is literally steps away, and the little deck is perfect for watching the sun set in the ocean. This house is spacious, and the kitchen has everything you would ever need. It was just so calm and relaxing. Trade winds and the palm trees, the ocean and the sun...everything you could dream of. The description and the pictures don't do justice to this house. We were extremely pleased with the communication with Kay, always having an answer to our questions in a matter of a few hours (when it was not in minutes!) She is very accomodating, and trying (and succeding) to please her guests. Close to Waimea Bay, Haleiwa, surf shops, Shark's Cove for snorkelling, Hawaii green sea turtles... It really was a dream come true! Mahalo!

Excellent stay with Kay. She is a delightful host, and the room was very clean, well maintained and comfortable. Parking was easy, access to starbucks, foodland, great. Best beach on No Sho right in front of house!!! Her yard is beautiful and a great place to chill if you don't want to get sandy but want that perfect view right there. The hospitality and aloha much appreciated.

This was our third year staying at this warm and friendly home. It is located on the beach within walking distance to foodland. It is very convenient to the bus route and the bike/walking path. We enjoyed the ocean views and sunsets from the deck. This is a great location to experiance the North Shore.

A year ago, March of 2010, I had the honor of staying in the studio part of the Zen Beach Retreat, Ms. Kay DeWeese's beautiful beachfront humble abode. My expectations were met beyond what I could have imagine to be. Starting off with Ms. Kay's generous and humble soul. Making sure I had all my needs and to assure my comfort and security. The studio is charming with a wonderful and comfortable queen size bed. A spacious closet with full length mirrors. The windows are lovely to open for evening breeze and morning sunshine peaking in to wake up to. Bathroom complete with bathtub. A desk. Mini breakfast table. The kitchenette convenient for your basic needs. Just to be able to walk out to the beach in the early morning to seashell shop. Be surprised by baby whales swimming, playing... Great memories. Walking distance to Food Land and other local beats. Great walks to Sunset Beach.You can rent bikes. Right on bus route to take you into Haleiwa, Turtle Bay or to Waikiki. Of course your if you have a car, you have your private driveway to park. The studio is peaceful and at night to hear the waves from the studio or sitting on the small deck looking over the beach. For me, it was just ideal. I was able to regroup, relax and heal. Thank you.

We can't tell you how much we enjoyed your beautiful piece of paradise. We snorkled at Three Tables and boogy-boarded at Sunset. it provided the perfect backdrop for our special celebration.
