After being out for a day of shopping, sightseeing, or laying on the beach, "Tranquillita'" may be the first word that pops into your head as you enter the private gate.
Enjoy the light breezes and fresh air of our beautiful valley in Fraginesi. Sit at the table under an olive tree and sip your cappuccino, close your eyes and listen for the tinkling bells of a distant sheep herd, or the chimes of the church on the mountain.
Located between Castellammare and Scopello it's only a short drive to countless historic locations, beautiful beaches and fantastic restaurants, in the heart of one of the most beautiful scenic areas of Sicily.
If cooking is your passion, enjoy our fully equipped kitchen of this newly constructed home and the spacious veranda. The shops in town have all your fresh ingredients. (Saturday is market day)..The bread and pastry shops are numerous. Some think they make the best bread in Italy.
Relax here and make this your home away from home.

A lovely place to stay, the pretty villetta has all the homey touches that you might need and it is situated in a wonderful garden. Though in a quiet setting surrounded by an olive grove, you are close to the harbour town of Castelmare del Golfo which is excellent for shopping and lingering in the waterside restaurants and bars. Palermo is close and we also enjoyed an outing to the interesting town of Cefalu'. Other drives were along the southern coast of Sicily and to the great beach town of San Vito lo Capo. We lucked onto the annual international kite festival along the beach at San Vito -- a real highlight! The villetta is a great base for your trip to Sicily and also just a great place to relax!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We rented Casa Uliva for one week in early May 2012 at the start of our two week adventure in Sicily. The casa is in an excellent location to explore the Northwest corner of Sicily, in a most wonderful town, Castellmare del Golfo. (make sure you check out the local museum in the Castello at the harbor for a total immersion in the culture of Sicily). Located in a beautiful landscaped olive grove the casa is just ideal - nicely furnished; very well equiped kitchen; wireless internet; AC (which we did not have to use); cable tv; a terrace surrounded by the garden to dine alfresco or sip a glass of wine or enjoy your espresso or cappuccino in the morning. What a pleasure to be met by Jackie, a friend of Sue and Nick, as you drive into Castellmare to make sure you have no problem finding the property. Jackie is very special, an electric personality and a wonderful resource for places to shop in town, what not to miss in the area, restaurant recommendations and to answer any questions you have in general. The casa is perfect to act as a home base to explore Western Sicily: Palermo; Monreale; Segesta; Scopello; Capo San Vito; Erice; Trapani; Mondello; Mt. Pellegrino (santuary of St. Rosalia) Agrigento; Selinunte; Sciaaca; so much more. Do not miss exploring the Zingaro National Nature Preseve a short drive from the casa. A remarable place to hike, picnic and swim in an unspoiled strech of coastline. To avoid the traffic and impossible parking in Palermo either take the train or drive to the airport, park your car and take the shuttle bus to the center of Palermo. I think you can tell we just loved staying at Casa Uliva, recommend it most highly and we are already planning a return tip to Sicily and Casa Uliva will be included in our plans.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My husband, parents and I stayed in this lovely home in March 2012. It was absolutely wonderful. The home was very comfortable and clean. Everything about it was perfect. My parents stayed on the main floor and my husband and I had the entire second floor to ourselves. We really enjoyed the local wine and ocean view from the upstairs patio. I can't say enough good things about this home and would definitely stay there again. Kim from MinnesotaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Located close to the most beautiful beaches in Sicily, this villetta is more than we ever expected! We could stroll among the olive trees, grape vines, and a garden of growing fruit trees, herbs and spices to immerse ourselves in all that is Sicily. Fully furnished with the comforts of life, the villetta is stylishly decorated with unique art, ceramics of the area, and 360 degree views that are beyond description. We had the privilege of meeting the owners, Nick and Sue. Their warm hospitality, generosity of time, and knowledge of the area made our vacation there very special. They helped us to charter a boat and explore the coastline, to visit nearby Erice, Scopello, Alcamo, salt flats of Mozie and many more sites. As a native of Castellammare, Nick introduced us to many local owners of restaurants and shops, We realy felt welcomed and hated to leave. We are already planning our return visit to this wonderful villetta, and we thank Nick and Sue for sharing their love of this beautiful area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We rented Casa Uliva for a week in June 2011 - what a memorable stay it was! A quiet and tranquil location, it was always a pleasure returning after a day of touring. Everything is as described and the neighbour who introduced us to the house (Jackie) was very helpful. Everything about Casa Ulivo was welcoming and comfortable - it is a real home away from home. Shopping for groceries was handy at nearby Castellammare del Golfo - a delightful town where you can get a real flavour of Sicily away from the usual tourist things. The location is excellent as there are plenty of interesting things to see, all within an hour's drive. The communications made it easy to keep track with people back home and the Internet access allowed us to research places in the area. Our breakfasts on the front patio were a real delight - what a way to start the day surrounded by olive trees and the mountains. The time we had there was not enough and we hope to return one day. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

What a wonderful stay ! My husband and I rented the Villetta for a week in February 2011...wish we had stayed longer ! The house is perfect...cosy, spotlessly clean, fully equipped, English TV, beautiful location, and wonderful neighbors (Jacki and Nino...we love you !) who will do anything to help you. We spent 10 weeks in Italy this year, and the Villetta was the most comfortable place we stayed in all in our travels. The true beauty of Sicily comes through when staying at the Villetta...it is convenient to shopping, markets and visiting sights throughout central and western Sicily. We cannot wait to return !Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I spent a week here in early March 2011. It is a lovely home in a great location to explore Western Sicily! The owners are wonderful and very easy to deal with. They have a neighbor who will meet you in town to make sure you find the house okay and show you around the house. There are numerous things to visit. Our favorites were Lo Zingaro, Erice, Segesta, Selinunte and Sciacca. I would highly recommend this villa and we look forward to returning soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We loved Casa Ulivo! Its location is the perfect jumping off spot for visiting all the "must sees" of Western Sicily. We had done our research in advance and pretty much knew what we wanted to see, but the owners had left their own list of recommendations, some of which turned out to be our favorites. The house is very well equipped with everything needed...just like living at home. Description of the property is accurate. Hosts were so helpful and accommodating. From Castellammare del Golfo, it's an easy train ride into Palermo, saving the stress of city driving. Ample free parking at the station. Once in Palermo, get a day pass for the city bus system, on sale in the train station. Otherwise, it's a quick jump onto the autostrada for easy access to other destinations. Driving on smaller local highways is a joy, as the hillsides are ocean views are beautiful. We had a most memorable vacation and would happily return to this property.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We , two couples , stayed at the Villeta for a week , from 8/4 through 8/11. Overall we were quite happy with the house. Villeta has an excellent location which allows to get a many must see sites, towns and beaches within an hour. The nearest towns Scopello and Castellamare only minutes away . Both towns a very nice and offer wide choice of dining options. The house offers plenty of privacy and is well stocked with all the essentials including internet access! The only issue we've had with the house is that one of the bedroom is rather small and really works much better as a kids bedroom (there are two separate beds) rather than a couple's bedroom. One would definitely need to have a car to stay at the house. Overall , we enjoyed our stay very much and will gladly recommend the Villetta. Also, the owners are very nice and accommodating , providing lot's of good information on the surrounding area and even helping us to look for a sail boat charter.Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

We were two couples that stayed in this villetta for two weeks. We enjoyed this place so much that we didn't want to leave. The house is everything that the website advertises and more. The owners were incredibly helpful and have provided everything in the house that you would need for a very feel at home atmosphere. We would highly recommend this property to anyone. Everything is nearby by car including the most beautiful beach we have ever seen (Capo san Vito) recommended by the owners. Check out the owners home page from the link on this webpage it is a video and it is great!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Caroline born in Arkansas, moved to New York at age 7. Practiced in the professions of interior designer and real estate broker. Owned and operated a B&B with husband. Both now retired and live in Italy and Long Island. We travel a great deal to Sicily where we maintain a second home. Caroline enjoys cooking and being with large family. Loves to paint using the mediums of oil and acrylics with most scenes currently of European landscapes. Nicolo' (Nick) was born in Castellammare del Golfo, on the island of Sicily and moved to upstate New York at age 11. Attended primary school in Endicott, NY, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree at Florida State University. Served three years in the U.S.M.C. with tours in the Caribbean and Eastern Mediterranean. Worked in a professional capacity for 40 years in the fields of accounting and finance. Nick and Sue purchased a newly constructed house in 2005 in Nick's birthplace where he has many relatives and friends with whom we keep close contact. We spend as much time as possible in Sicily.
Why the Owner Chose Castellammare del Golfo:
Nicolo' (who was born here) and Caroline have been visiting this area for 30 years. The area has a wonderful mix of all that a vacationer might enjoy in a southern European location. It has a wonderful setting at the head of a wide gulf in the Mediterranean, a nearby international airport, several major cities within an hour drive. The house sits in a green valley and is surrounded by verdant mountains, blue sea, the Zingaro National Forest Park, and the city of Castellammare del Golfo with its historic past. During the summer and shoulder seasons direct flights are available from New York to Palermo.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Within 10 minutes drive we reach Zingaro National Park where we hike, picnic, swim or visit the nature museums. We take boat rides along the magnificent coast to Scopello. We take a five minute ride to town to eat freshly caught fish at a restaurant overlooking the Gulf. At home on the property, if we just want to relax, it's quiet and tranquil sitting under an olive tree sipping a chilled glass of wine and tasting locally made cheese. The ample property allows privacy and relaxation.
