Come visit our brand new Cedar Log Home built in the winter of 2009! EVERYTHING INSIDE IS NEW AND IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION!!!
Come get away from it all while maintaining close proximity to urban amenities. Our chalet is only one of two, in a gated and secluded 43 acre property of pristine woods, creeks and civil war era trails. Wide-eyed deer, wild turkeys, calling birds, turtles, butterflies and all sorts of critters roam free in our natural paradise.
We are next to the lazy Dan River, well known for canoeing, tubing, kayaking and swimming, in the quaint little town of Danbury, population 108, located between the Post Office, the Fire Department and across from a 19th century church so tiny and charming that weddings and baptisms have to limit guests due to its small capacity. It's bell tower, however, holds the power to call your attention every hour on the hour with its by-gone era tolls.
The Retreat at Hanging Rock, in whose property we have chosen to build our beautiful cabin, takes its name from the popular Hanging Rock State Park, home to 7,000 acres of unspoiled nature, including a 13 acre lake with a sandy beach, five waterfalls and hundreds of nature trails. The main entrance to the park is within an easy bike ride from the cabin or a five minute drive.
Apart from being a stone's throw away from a pastry shop, a diner, a general store, gas station, we are also within walking distance from the Public Library, a Bank and a Baptist Affiliate Hospital should an emergency arise.
Just a ten minute drive from the closest Food Lion supermarket, Movie Rental Store, CVS pharmacy and a treasure trove of antiques stores in the laid-back town of Walnut Cove, the cabin is also a half hour away from the historic city of Winston-Salem, with its original Old Salem quarters dating back to the birth of our nation. Opera Halls, Museums, Universities, Fine Dining, Malls and Movie Theaters can all be found here. Another historic local attraction cam also be found less than an hour away in the back-in-time town of Mt. Airy, inspiration for the town of Mayberry, fictional home of the Andy Griffith Show TV series.
A forty-five minute drive in the direction of the Yadkin Valley will take the visitor straight into wine country. Rivaling the Napa region of the West Coast, North Carolina's emerging wine regions and spectacular vineyards, with tasting rooms and tours, are producing award winning wines that can easily be paired with the finest gourmet meal.
Fly into Greensboro International Airport and arrive at the cabin in less than an hour. The trip from Charlotte or Raleigh Airports will take less than two hours.
Preferable is to drive through the beautiful Appalachian Mountains and arrive via the world famous Blue Ridge Parkway.
IF THE DATES YOU ARE INTERESTED ARE BOOKED, WE DO HAVE A SECOND RENTAL HOME IN THE SAME PROPERTY.

Map & Owner's Profile
Hanging Rock State Park, N Carolina - Log Home on 42 Acres
Year Purchased: 2009
Why the Owner Chose Danbury
We bought this property simply because we fell in love with the area, its unspoiled beauty and its proximity to the Hanging Rock State Park, the Dan River and the perfectly manicured vineyards that are producing spectacularly fine wines. These and all the amenities of modern day living make our Cedar Log Home a perfect place to spend a week or even a month!
The Unique Benefits at this House
The cabin sits nestled within a 43 acre private wooded area. On the property itself you will enjoy making home cooked meals, toasting s'mores in the fireplace, watching the star studded nights and waking to dew kissed mornings. Hiking the property through its own trails, creeks and crossing over to the Dan River is a calming and healthy exercise. Taking a five minute trip to the Hanging Rock State Park, exploring its nature trails, sandy beach and waterfalls also make for an adventurous commune with nature. Excursions to Winston Salem, Mount Airy, Dobson, Sparta, Elkin, Pilot Mountain, Walnut Cove and all the wineries in the acclaimed Yadkin Valley, will add even more spice to the trip should the visitor begin to feel cabin fever.
Owner's Map of Danbury
Hi there, my name is Tom, along with my wife Mercedes, we own a real state company which invests in Florida and North Carolina, two of our favorite places. We truly love the Triad area, specially the charming town of Danbury, which has embraced us as our own family and where we have built our second home. When we first came to Danbury, we fell in love with its natural surroundings, its friendly folks and the overwhelming feeling of community and wholesomeness reminiscent of a bygone era.

Great family vacation spot, a must you can not miss!We just spent a great New Years at the cabin in The Retreat in Hanging Rock, Danbury, North Carolina. What an adventure for our kids and one we will remember for the rest of our lives. Danbury is in a great location minutes from the state park (Hanging Rock), moments from great places to eat, movies, supermarkets and anything you may need. Every day we had the opportunity to see vineyards in the surrounding areas for example Childress Vineyards was one that we visited and it was awesome! One day we took a day trip to Boone not too far from Danbury and saw snow and the kids had a blast on the sleds. Another day we went to Andy Griffith’s hometown that is close to Danbury and that brought my wife and me back to our childhood memories of the great Andy Griffith show from the 50’s-60’s. This is a great experience; the cabin was clean, spacious and comfortable for our family of 4 but 8 people can stay there without a glitch. We plan on making this our retreat at least 2 times a year for now on. If you want more details please feel free to call us on our great stay. The management team has this experience easy for any family to come and disconnect from our crazy daily lives and experience nature and more. Feel free to call me anytime, Donny Hudson 786-554-9597, Miami Florida.

My family and I were the first to rent the cabin after it was built. It was Thanksgiving of 2009. We loved the warmth its log construction and hearth provided, even when it got nippy at night. We very much enjoyed the elegant and classy decor, which deviates radically from the "country-rustic" look of similar places. It was peaceful and relaxing to wake up to darting deer and fall asleep to a sky full of stars. Our family of six felt comfortable in the three bedroom two bath and CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!
