Like most who book a vacation at Villa Sylphide, we excitedly anticipated our arrival for months. But the pictures and descriptions do not come close to the actual experience of arriving at the house. Sylphide is perfect - modern, immaculate, "beachy" elegance. The kitchen is better equipped than most restaurants, the bed and linens are exquisite, the location perfect, and the beach beautiful and deserted. Brian was a pleasure to work with, and took the time to answer all our questions and provide some tips for enjoying our stay. As a previous review mentioned, the only amenity we might suggest adding is a pair of binoculars, especially considering the many bird books in the library (as well as local fish, shell and even tree guides!).Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Just back from our vacaton at Villa Sylphide on June 2, 2012. Seeing is believing ..... this Villa is definitely the best vacatiion home we have stayed in. This home will help to take all your stress away the minute you walk in. We enjoyed the beautiful open floor plan, the cleanliness, and all the thoughtful, modern creature comforts. Anne was there to greet us, showed us where everything was and helped with any questions we had. Just steps way was the beautiful pink sand beach where we had many long walks. We were also able to enjoy snorkling and kayaking the reefs. Sunrise and sunsets were fantastic, weather permitting. Bahamians were friendly and we felt safe wherever we went. Also enjoyed local pineapple which is now in season ..... the sweetest we have ever tasted. Brian, the owner, answered all our questions no matter how small. This helped us to have a fantastic, worry free time. Thanks to Brian and Ingrid for sharing their paradise home with everyone who has had the privilege of staying there. If you are looking for a hideaway to relax and enjoy in Eleuthera, we highly recommed Villa Sylphide, you will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

If you are looking for solitude without being isolated and for a beach house that is flawlessly designed, well appointed, and offers the comforts of home, this is the place. Villa Sylphide is the most spacious single bedroom beach house we have had the privilege of rentng. From the large bedroom and adjoining bathroom with open shower to the wrap around deck there has been no detail left out. The kitchen and great room flow beautifully and offer an open modern feel. The entertainment system is state of the art. The filertered water is delicisous directly from the tap and the back up generater kept the electric power continuous... And you get all of this in an awesomely beatiful setting. You won't find an owner who is more congenial or easier to communicate with. Our only regret was that we did not book more time. It was very difficult leaving after only one week. We just cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Villa Sylphide!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

This was our first trip to Eleuthera and we absolutely loved it. And Villa Sylphide made it that much more enjoyable. Our first 2.5 days were non-stop rain and winds. So we got to experience all the villa had to offer...given we couldn't really get outside. From the satellite tv to the Ipod docking station to the built in sound system to the Wi-Fi...we used it all. The furnishings are contemporary and comfortable. And most things are new, given the house was built in 2009. The views from the home are incredible. You're own a quiet road where very few cars pass by. We'd get excited if one did. King-size bed was comfortable and the kitchen was very usable. Some past guests had left spices, alcohol and non-perishable items. So you might want to come to the villa first before grocery shopping. Anne (the caretaker) met us at the home and gave us the tour. She was very friendly and helpful. This home also has a generator...which is a good thing since the electricity went down 3 times. (Again...very rainy/windy weather in the beginning.) I don't think many of the homes have a generator...at least according to the folks we talked to. There were lovely flowers blooming in the yard and a view of the lake behind the villa. Home also has a kayak and bikes, which we did not get to use. The beach in front is great to look at, but we didn't get to experience it because it was too rough. We explored most parts of the island...and there is a beach out there to please everyone. Brian (the owner) was easy to communicate with and also called to check in on us on day 2. He also provides an internet line for long-distance calls; and a land line for local calls. The home also has 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella that you can take with you to the beach. We kept them in the trunk of the car and used them a lot. Because of the high winds, we had no problem at all with bugs. I came armed with plenty of bug spray; but really didn't need it around the villa. North Palmetto Point is centrally located with a lot of upscale homes along Banks Rd. The settlement itself is more modest with plenty of small grocery stores/bars for your needs. The ONLY thing this villa needs is a pair of binoculars. We saw a pod of dolphins out in the Atlantic and would've loved to see them a bit closer. Plus would be helpful for birdwatching on the lake. We also saw 3 dogs playing in the lake. To sum it up: We loved it and highly reccommend to anyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

The only reason I rated this 5 stars is because they won't let me say 10 stars. Brian and Ingrid have created something rare here. Villa Sylphide is the most comfortable well apointed place for a romantic get away you will ever find. This is not your typical garrishly apointed floral furnished cheesy beach rental. This is a place I would be proud to call home. It is apointed with modern stylish furniture and apliances. It is well stocked with everything you need to live here during your stay and everything is in like new condition. My new wife and I were married here this week on the lovely beach by the house. Brian, the owner, was amazing with his communication and advice. He helped us with everything from a rental car to advice on who others had used for wedding services in the past. He even called shortly after we arrived to make sure everything was as expected. It wasn't, it was actually better than expected. Anne, the caretaker here, is the most amazing person I have ever met on a vacation. It was as if we had a friend we had known for years here on the island. She has an awsome farm down the road that makes incredible baked goods on tuesdays. If you are looking at this place and considering staying here, stop considering and book it now before someone else does.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

My wife and I are just returning from Villa Sylphide where we celebrated our 25th wedding Anniversary. As we had never been to Eleuthera, we spent months reading everything we could find including trip advisor, bahamas4u, elusive beaches of Eleuthera, etc. We had excursions tentatively scheduled for each day. Well, most of those plans were thrown out the window as soon as we got to Villa Sylphide. The owners have truly created a tropical oasis! We did enjoy a week of beautiful weather (highs in upper 70's). We most enjoyed the time we spent at the Villa and on the beach adjacent to it. Although there are houses right next door to the North, they were not occupied, and we had the beach to ourselves. We carried out the chaise lounges provided, and packed a cooler, and spent nearly every morning at the Sylphide beach. It changed every day, and we found interesting shells and sea glass everyday. This home truly exceeds the advertisement: great kitchen, great sound system, access to a vonage phone, ipod dock, wraparound porch, outdoor showers. Some memorable highlights: watching the 6:50 am flight of the white egrets from the saline pond behind the villa.... hiking the Leon Levy Nature preserve trail up to Ethan's Tower......... Stalking the fish man in Governor's Harbour (we bought some beautiful spiny lobsters, and a mutton snapper) Preacher's Cave and the beach adjacent to it! Thank you Brian & Ingrid for creating this sanctuary. We would rent it again in a heartbeat, but we are actually thinking of bringing our family to the island, and we would not fit in your Couple's Haven!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

This was our 2nd stay at Villa Sylphide and 5th time visiting Eleuthera. Sylphide is without a doubt our most favourite place among all the others where we’ve stayed. It gets booked up quickly and we didn’t want to miss our chance to stay here again, so we booked months ahead for this trip. We were so glad to we did. This level of accommodation is rare in Eleuthera. Sure, there are plenty of nice places to rent, but this place is so many notches above the others. It is so well appointed - the bed is extremely comfortable; the sheets are very luxurious (perhaps 1000 thread count?); the kitchen / appliances are gourmet (I love to cook and cooking here is a joy. We had previously stayed at another villa where the kitchen was less than clean and functional and poorly stocked – what a waste to even have a kitchen, since I could not bring myself to cook there). Oh and the home entertainment system is phenomenal – including the satellite TV, surround-sound speakers in the ceiling and the collection of DVDs. You might think that you would never use this, but when it’s pouring rain outside, it was very welcome. The location of this property is fantastic. The road where the house is situated on is one of the most scenic roads in Eleuthera. We jogged the beautiful palm tree-and-flower-lined road on a daily basis. North Palmetto Point is surprisingly convenient. The stores and gas station are open much later than the ones in Governor’s Harbour (and Sundays too). It’s also an easy drive to Governor’s Harbour and to the tennis courts at Pineapple Fields. We were there in June and it was HOT – being on the Atlantic side, we were thankful to have that breeze to cool us off and blow away the bugs. The owner and the property manager were both fabulous to deal with. The owner, Brian, is very personable and not only did he answer all my questions promptly, but also provided some great suggestions and information to make our stay better than ever. The property manager, Anne, was very responsive with questions and any help that we needed. Her and her husband own Island Farm, which sells all kinds of great local made sauces, salad dressings, fire-roasted salsa, and souvenirs. Thank you once again, Brian and Ingrid, for opening up your beautiful home in Eleuthera to renters like me. We are truly spoiled when we stay at Villa Sylphide.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My wife and I stayed here in July 2010 and were married on the beach. The location is secluded. Many times we were the only people on the beach. It was heaven. The owner's were wonderful to work. It was like staying at a luxury resort! The pink sands of the beach were unbelievable.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

The only word I kept saying was UNREAL and for my husband WOW... We had the most fabulous time, covered just about every inch of the island 600+ miles we put on our Jeep as a matter of fact. All the way from Lighthouse Point to Ben Bay! After adventuring all day down sandy coral roads, basking in the sun, snorkeling the reefs and reminding my husband to drive on the left there was nothing more perfect than to come home to Sylphide. This home on Eleuthera should be must kept secret! The design/layout of the home is wonderful, one day I yelled to to my husband "I can see the ocean even from here" everywhere you turn there’s a view. Almost every night after dinner we would go down to the beach, tides were perfect day and night, lay flat on our backs and stargaze. I thought our place in NC had stars, Eleuthera has NC beat by far! One of the first nights there my husband said look outside, well obviously I looked towards the ocean, it was just slightly after the full moon and on the horizon was a "candle lit" ocean liner, my gosh I thought I was dreaming it really didn't seem real, absolutely gorgeous! I must say we felt right at home, everything we needed to prepare dinners, watch a little TV, listen to music and catch some shuteye for the next day's adventure. Brian and Ingrid you truly do have a piece of paradise! As Anne was taking us to the property my husband kept saying which house is it, wait you'll see, then there was the first WOW! He loved the architecture then once inside another WOW, "I can see why you chose Sylphide it's perfect for us!" We have a small home here in FL we built with very similar features, the open concept. Its truly amazing what you can do with 850 square feet. We had many choices throughout the Caribbean for our 25th anniversary, the only thing I can say is UNREAL and we will return to Sylphide sooner than later!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: My wife and I have been traveling to Eleuthera since 2001. We very much enjoy it and hope to retire during the winter months in a few years. We built our house the way we would want to live during retirement. We like good food and wine, as well as cooking ourselves. Sylphide has a great kitchen for just that. We had the choice of renting our house or not. Opening it up for rental has been a wise choice since we have had a really great experience with renters who also happen to like the things we do.
Why the Owner Chose North Palmetto Point:
Eleuthera is a quiet out island of the Bahamas with friendly people and a laid back lifestyle. We felt safe and comfortable the first time we arrived almost 10 years ago.
It also offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Signs designating public beach access dot the Queens Highway and are there to explore.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You can watch the sunrise from bed or sit on the deck with a cool drink and watch the sunset. The full wrap around deck also allows views of the ocean or a small lake to the rear with migratory birds, Heron, Egret, and waterfowl.
