Coopers Cottage is situated on its own grounds in a tranquil, rural location. It is a traditional cottage which has been renovated recently. Coopers Cottage has three bedrooms (sleeps 6). The main bedroom is a double room with an ensuite. This is a downstairs room. There are two twin rooms upstairs, sharing the main bathroom (bath tub and separate shower) downstairs. White Egyptian bed linen is used in the bedrooms. Fluffy white towels are also provided. The sitting room has a solid fuel stove, creating a very homely atmosphere. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with all the necessary kitchen gadgets (fridge/dishwasher/microwave). The laundry room (outside) houses a washing machine, dryer, freezer and fuel supply. Heating in the cottage is electric. There is a south facing patio, furnished with table and chairs. A barbecue is available.
For larger groups, additional self catering accommodation is available at Rathellen House (sleeps 12/14)
‘This adorable cottage is perfect for a family wanting to explore the southeastern counties of Tipperary, Waterford, and Kilkenny. Stella and Eamonn Long have lovingly restored and renovated this 19th-century cooper's cottage, once Eamonn's family home, into a comfortable, tasteful hideaway. With exposed beams and polished wood floors, the Longs have created a house full of light, with spectacular views of the Galtee Mountains. While retaining the cosy proportions and traditional lines of the original dwelling, the Longs have created a house full of light, with generous skylights and windows opening to spectacular views of the Galtee Mountains. The furnishings have a bright, contemporary feel. The house, which has three bedrooms and sleeps six, comes with absolutely everything, and there's even a barbecue and a modest fenced-in garden, with a patio for sunny days’. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. The cottage was as quaint, nicely appointed, and comfortable as the pictures and description had described. It is nicely furnished, very clean, and has a home-like feeling. For us, it was a "The Quiet Man" experience! Stella and Eamonn are the perfect hosts! Their knowledge and willingness to share it, of the surrounding area, is second to none. There's nothing better than getting "non-tourist" suggestions and directions to must see places such as the "V", Rock of Cashel, and taking the "daring" ride over Connor Pass to Dingle Bay. Eamonn is a human GPS. We plan on returning to Eire and staying in Cooper's Cottage again. Thank you Stella and Eamonn for making our stay so enjoyable. Coopers Cottage was exactly what I expected Ireland to be: charming, tidy, cozy, convenient but with a flavour of the past. Having the helpful owners right across the road at Rathellen House was very handy. This was a great location for us (you need a car) as it was a central location from which to go out on our daily trips and in easy travelling distance to a lot of highlights. I loved communing with the cows while doing the dishes in the evening - right outside our kitchen window.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Our stay at Coopers Cottage was everything we wanted and more. It's in the most beautiful, peaceful setting with views of the Galtee Mountains. We spent several days hiking in the Glen of Aherlow Nature Park and just when we thought it was the most beautiful view, we'd turn a corner and find another! The owners, Stella & Eamonn, gave the best recommendations: a pub in Tipperary for an evening of traditional music, great food in Cahir after walking along the river that runs by Cahir Castle, restaurants in Dublin that featured local food and shops that carried Irish products. Coopers Cottage made you feel like you were home. It's an easy 2 hr drive from Dublin but feels like you're deep in the heart of Ireland. We would go back in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

About the owner: Coopers Cottage has been in the Long family for over one hundred years. Eamonn's grandfather, Michael, was a cooper by trade. He ran his business from the cottage. With his team of coopers, barrels were made to supply the Butter Market in nearby Tipperary Town. Coopers Cottage has been completely renovated. It has been operating as a vacation rental property for a number of years now. Guests enjoy the traditional cottage feel, the wonderful views of the Galtee Mountains from the kitchen and sitting room.
