The Bird Cage - Waikiki Hideaway, Steps from the Beach!
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The Bird Cage is a breezy and bright studio giving you clear views of the Koolau Mountains. With historic Waikiki Beach just outside the hotel lobby, the Bird Cage is the perfect home base for you.
An expansive sundeck on top of the hotel provides a bird's eye view of Diamond Head. There are lounge chairs for sunbathing and tables for alfresco dining. No one else in Waikiki has a better view of the sun setting into the Pacific. Kapiolani Park is just across the street and offers the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, the Royal Hawaiian Bandstand, tennis courts, soccer fields, archery ranges, weekend art shows and the city's Sunset on the Beach free concerts and movies - all this in its 500 green acres.
One of the main reasons for coming to Hawaii is of course the sun and sand. Surfing, stand up board paddling, outrigger canoeing, swimming and simply lounging on the beach are all just a few steps from the Brid Cage.
Hawaii is the crossroads of the Pacific and its culinary offerings reflect that abundantly, so while the Bird Cage has a full kitchen and microwave, you are a short walk away from countless cafes and restaurants catering to every taste and price range. Similarly, if you can get yourself out of the water and away from the beach there is a lot of shopping to be done in Waikiki, and the many other shopping venues just a short drive away.
The Bird Cage is at the end of Waikiki. Kapahulu Avenue provides easy access to the freeway, and makes getting in and out of the area very easy because you avoid all the traffic in the heart of Waikiki. This is perfect for when you decide to explore the rest that Oahu has to offer.

I thought everything was great for the price. The only thing that was a bit of a pain was there were only 2 towels. We both have pretty long hair and need a towel to wrap our hair and 1 to dry our bodies. Without daily housekeeping 2 towels are extremely rough. We had to do lots of laundry. The a/c was pretty loud. The location was fantastic as it was feet to the beach it and within walking distance to all the shopping and restaurants. The unit was very clean. The cleaning woman was phenominal and was very accomodating and Kevin was so quick to answer any questions. We will definately be staying there again. You can't beat it for the money.Recommended for: People with disabilities, sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: We always appreciate hearing that guests have enjoyed their stay at the Bird Cage. Just steps from historic Waikiki Beach is probably the best thing about the condo, and we're glad to hear you agree that our location is a great one. We'll definitely take your suggestions to heart and work to improve the experience for future guests, and hopefully welcome you back to the islands again soon.

The Bird Cage was perfect for my needs...Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We're always glad to hear when guest are happy with the Bird Cage. While most of our guests are on holiday - we're starting to see more people who are using the condo as a place to live while they are working on Oahu. So it's nice to hear that we are a good place to relax and unwind when the workday is done. Whether you're working, or on vacation - that roof deck is a great place to put your feet up and relax. Thanks again for coming to stay with us!

The Owner was very helpful in giving us extra information on the area, ie parking, stores, etc. This property was very nice, Clean, and tastefully decorated. A great bargain for the price. The sunroof was great, beautiful view. Great location. Get the parking space if you rent a car, its definately worth it to avoid the hassel of parking elsewhere.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+.
Owner response: We're always glad when guests enjoy their vacations in Hawaii, and especially so when our condo has helped to make it so. The roof deck is a great space, not usually very busy, and affords a spectacular view of the Pacific and Diamond Head. Thanks for the kind words, and we hope to welcome you back to the islands soon!

Our stay was wonderful, relaxing and peaceful. We walked up the road about 20 mins to Leonard's for malasadas (deep fired dough like doughnuts) which were a delish treat. What we really recommend, though, is a massage from Rachael at Honua Theraputic massage in Rm. 216 of this hotel.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed at the Bird Cage for 10 days at the end of April/early May. It is a very cute/clean little condo. The location is awesome! We loved being across from the Zoo and so close to the beach! We did find is a bit weird that the bathroom and kitchen were combined. The toilet and tub/shower is in a separate room, but you brush your teeth in the kitchen sink and do your hair in the same spot as you cook breakfast. It was not a big deal, you get what you pay for! It is a great deal for the price! It would have been nice to have a private lanai but the roof top is awesome! We never saw anyone in the pool the entire time we were there, probably due to the fact it is totally shaded.Kevin was very prompt in replying to our request to stay, as well as email questions we had. The photos are accurate. I don't think I would stay here again, as I would prefer an ocean view, private lanai and a pool with sunshine...but I would recommend it to others who don't find those issues a big deal.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
