Welcome to Walled Lake Lodge. Not far from Gaylord, Michigan, Walled Lake Lodge is the perfect spot for you and your loved ones to spend time relaxing, sleeping in and having fun outdoors. It's a great gathering place for family reunions and old friends alike.
Our 4,400 square-foot log cabin is nestled among 600-acres of wildlife-filled pine forests and clear blue waters while still offering all of the comforts of home including a full kitchen, washer/dryer, cozy beds, heating/cooling and much more. The lodge sleeps up to 22 guests comfortably and has room for a few more if needed.
Joining us for the summer? Hang out on the dock soaking in the sun with a good book or casting a line to see what fish might be biting. Take a dip in the refreshing water and swim out to the raft. You can take a leisurely ride around the edge of the 40-acre lake in one of our canoes or row boat. Spend the evenings around a bonfire roasting marshmallows, sharing stories and enjoying each others' company. Or sit around the table on our screened-in porch playing cards, board games or just chatting the evening away.
Need to get your feet moving? There are over 6 miles of 2-track roads on the property of Walled Lake Lodge. Take a nice peaceful walk, you might even come across white-tailed deer feeding in the nearby fields or perhaps even an elk or 2! If you're up during the winter, strap on some cross-country skies or snow shoes and get moving. Or bring your snowmobiles and explore the property.
Want to explore beyond our private property? You're in luck, our cabin falls right at the edge of Northern Lower Michigan's Pigeon River Country State Forest. The second you set foot outside our gate, you're on state park land, with over 95,000 acres of trails and rivers to explore (and fish). For more information on The Pigeon River Country State Forest, visit their website or stop by their headquarters during your stay.
Besides exploring the surrounding state park, there's a lot to do just a short ride away:
- Visit Mackinac Island
- Get a day of golf in at one of the local resorts
- Visiting in winter? Bring your downhill/alpine skies or your snowboard and head to a nearby Northern Michigan ski resort
However you choose to spend time at Walled Lake, we know you'll enjoy it.

For a number of years now, a group of church ladies have gone on trips together. We’ve stayed in hotels and a variety of rental homes. Until now, we have not returned to the same rental home a second time because part of the joy is in the discovery of each new property we rent. For several reasons, we plan to change that trend with Walled Lake Lodge. We have never stayed at a rental house that was so well equipped for our stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could possibly have needed and more, including a movie theater popcorn machine. The weather was just gorgeous while we were there during October. Even if it hadn’t been, there was a closet full of games that we could have played indoors and still enjoyed time together and the view through the huge living room windows overlooking the lake. We had a group of 19 ladies with us this year, ranging from age twenty-something to ninety. There was something for everyone, from canoeing, jogging and hiking, to chatting in the screened in porch. It was a level walk to the dock as well as to the bonfire pit, with only a couple of stairs, so that even some of our ladies with health concerns could make it out to join in the fun. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They were responsive to our questions before and during our stay. The Lodge is situated in the midst of nature, so that we were able to relax and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation all around us.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

We just returned from a one-week stay at Walled Lake with extended family of 20 ranging in age from 4 to 70. It was perfect for everyone in the family. The house is very well furnished and maintained with amenities you would not expect in a vacation rental. The setting is somewhat remote but very quiet and private. The 40 acre private lake is crystal clear with a shallow area for young children and large enough for a jetski or small power boat. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The pictures on the website do not do justice to this property. Would definitely stay there again.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1988
About the owner: Walled Lake Lodge is owned and managed by the McIntyre family. We bought the property in 1988 and built the cabin ourselves with the help of family and friends. It's a place we think of as home. The lodge is a labor of love that began with a small bunk house and has continued to expand with our ever-growing family. Our family is a well traveled bunch, however our hearts remain at Walled Lake Lodge. We hope you enjoy our favorite place in the world as much as we do and look forward to welcoming you soon. -The McIntyres
Why the Owner Chose Gaylord:
Tom McIntyre, a.k.a. Gramps, purchased the property around Walled Lake in 1988. Together with family and friends, a small bunk house was built in 1990 and continued to grow over the next few years into the lodge it is today. Based in Traverse City, Michigan, the McIntyres have always enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, swimming, water skiing and much more, and Walled Lake was the perfect, Northern Michigan secluded escape they wanted.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Walled Lake Lodge is the perfect spot for large families, groups of friends or family reunions. It truly is a place to slow down, spend time with loved ones, eat, sleep and relax to your hearts content. Walled Lake is surrounded by private property, so guests have full reign of the lake and property around the lodge during their stay. They have access to fishing, hiking/mountain biking trails, wildlife lookouts, snowmobile trails and much, much more. Walled Lake Lodge has to be experienced first hand to truly be appreciated.
