MY FRIENDS AND I HAD A WONDERFUL GIRLS GETAWAY VACATION AT THE BLUE COTTAGE. THE PROPERTY WAS VERY CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED. THE WEATHER WAS GREAT. THE PEACE AND QUIET MADE OUR VACATION A VERY RELAXED ONE. THE BLUE HERON RESTAURANT IN NEARBY CHAUMONT PROVIDES EXCELLENT LUNCHES AND DINNERS AT REASONABLE PRICES. THERE IS A SMALL COTTAGE BAKE SHOP RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE BLUE COTTAGE THAT HAS EXCELLENT CUPCAKES AND BROWNIES. ONE DAY WE ENJOYED THE FERRY RIDE FROM CAPE VINCENT TO KINGSTON. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY TO A FRIEND OR RELATIVE. THIS AREA IS A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF NEW YORK STATE.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful time in the blue cottage. My husband and I would wake each morning and have coffee in the sun room, overlooking the bay while our children slept. We would watch the birds fly across the bay and fish jump up out of the water and land with a splash. A number of mornings we saw a blue heron standing in the bay. Later the kids would wake, we’d have breakfast, and then start our day. Some days we used the owners kayaks, which they were nice enough to let us use. My husband would usually go in the rowboat with our youngest, who enjoys fishing, while my older son and I explored the bay in the kayaks. My son caught more fish than on any other vacation we have taken, which he was thrilled with. We also enjoyed swimming in the lake. A couple of times we went into town, had ice cream, or just checked out antique shops. One day we went to the Saint Lawrence river and toured the Bolt Castle tour which is not too far away. In the evenings we would either cook or barbeque, hang out on the deck and look at the stars. The internet and cable work well, so we where able to take care of emails when we needed to mid-trip while the kids watched TV or their DVDs (the owners have a nice collection of movies to watch). It was a very nice trip in a beautiful place. I highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We had 3 adults and two children stay here during the last week of August. The cottage is older, but has a modern kitchen with a nice open concept to livingroom. Bedrooms are small, but there was plenty of storage space. We were really impressed as to how clean and well kept it was. It was very quiet there throughout the week, we rarely saw neighbors. Kayaks and boat were fun (as were the board games provided in the cottage!) and we saw a variety of different types of birds, but we were a little disappointed there was no where to swim as the weeds were everywhere. My husband found it very difficult to fish there also and tried numerous different locations in the bay, but too weedy because it was so late in the season. Owners and property manager were also very nice and really made our stay an enjoyable one:)Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We would like to thank Whoppingcrane for discussing the modern kitchen, newly renovated interior, and open livingroom with Amish handmade furniture and a rustic feel. We thank them for recognizing our efforts to keep the cottage clean and up-to-date for our guests. One of the advantages of this cottage at the end of the bay is the quiet, undisturbed days and evenings with nature where you can watch the blue heron, mallard ducks, loons, geese, and an occasional wild turkey from the expansive deck in the backyard. The kayaks and jon boat are provided at no extra cost and bring to this paradise an added aspect of fun and adventure, that our guests typically enjoy. Due to fluctuation in water levels, the weeds can be at their worst in late August. The fishing is world class as described in In-Fisherman Magazine and is always going to vary week to week, and fisherman to fisherman.

the people that own this property are so great. the beds are very comfy which is nice to know. the views are great especially at dusk when the wind is blowing on the reeds and the swallows are flying around. it was nice to see that they care a lot about the cleanlyness of their cottage. they even had complimentary kayaks and boardgames. the next door neighboors are very freindly. the fishing off the dock is pretty good and the fishing in the lake and bay is awesome. it was a little tough to pull out the sleep sofa though. the blue heron inn had great food. the only inconvience is the washing machine is in the garage and not the cottage itself. but i have told all my freinds and coworkers to contact them. overall i'll be back in juneRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
