Year Purchased: 2008
This is our 3rd home in Water Color (7 years)and we are from Alpharetta Georgia. I am a Commercial Developer and my wife is an Interior Decorator. We have three children John 19, Mathew 17, and Julia 15. I am also the owner of Gulf Place in Santa Rosa Beach so I am in town quite often. We love Water Color and hope to retire to our home after our children are all in college.
Why the Owner Chose WaterColor
Seven years ago we purchased our home in Water Color after owning property in Destin. After spending some time with friends at Water Color we fell in love with the laid back lifestyle of 30-A. No traffic, no crowds and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We are from Atlanta and live in the country, not a place where you want your kids to take off on a bike ride like we did when we were kids. So as soon as we get to our home at the beach, the kids are off on their bikes and most of the time we won't see them all day unless we run into them at the beach club or the hot dog stand at Sea Side. Water Color is the only place we would ever consider allowing our children to be on their own during the day because it is safe and a lot like the neighborhoods we grew up in as kids. We hope to retire here in the next three to four years and look forward to the good life living here full time.
The Unique Benefits of this House
An average day at the beach for us is a bike ride or jog through the neighborhood in the morning and then a kayak trip from Western lake to the Gulf Of Mexico and Grayton Beach, about a 1 hour paddle. After riding the waves a while, we have a some lunch at the Red Bar in Grayton and then paddle back. About mid day we will meet the kids and friends at the beach for a volley ball game or what ever happens to be going on, then it's up to the beach club with friends for a late afternoon cocktail and to make plans for dinner. Then it's back home for a shower or maybe a short nap before dinner. We usually make plans with family and friends to meet for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. The evening usually begins at Bud And Alleys at Sea Side for a cocktail and to watch the sun set over the beautiful Gulf and then off to dinner. Our favorite restaurants are Cafe 30-A , Barago ,Fish Out Of Water, Stinky's Fish Camp, or Pizza By The Sea. For a special occasions we go to "Cafe" Tango, the best meal on 30-A with very limited seating, so it's wise to reserve early. Everything is casual and a bike ride or short drive away, that's what we love about coming to the beach.
