  Unit 623 was the perfect location for our stay in Maui. The unit was modern and clean with all the amenities of home to make our stay enjoyable. Little extras like the Hawaiian chocolates and bottle of champagne were the icing on the cake. Watching the beautiful sun rise and set from the lanai was amazing. The location of the unit is superb with direct ocean and pool views. The Honua Kai is an environmentally friendly building with recycling for bottles, paper and glass on each floor. Rhonda answered all my pre arrival questions promptly and Joe met us at the front door of the resort and escorted us to the unit. Both were super helpful and friendly and made my first VRBO experience a breeze. I would certainly recommend this property to a friend or relative and hope visit again someday. Thanks Joe and Rhonda.

  This was our 3rd stay at the Honua Kai and staying in this unit was our favorite location at this resort yet! The views off the lanai are truly wonderful--especially to watch the spectacular Maui sunsets. Working with the owners was very easy and smooth and their condo is equipped with everything you need to make yourself at home and truly enjoy all that the Honua Kai and surrounding area has to offer. We hope to stay here again on a future trip to Maui because it really is a gem of a condo! Mahalo to the owners for sharing their home with us for a glorious week of "fun in the sun"!

  This condo is almost brand new and has pretty much everything you could need (beach towels, chairs, cooler, every kitchen utensil and appliance). One of the best things about staying here are the amenities of Honua Kai - gourmet food store with sandwiches, fruit, coffee, smoothies, etc right downstairs, the concierge who is extremely helpful, and convenient parking underground. The pools and hot tubs are big and numerous (although there are a lot more little children than we anticipated) and the beach front of Honua Kai has kayak, paddle board, snorkeling rentals. The condo unit balcony faces the ocean. We saw tons of whales! The location of Honua Kai is ideal...just about 10 min from Lahaina town, and even shorter to Whalers Village and other shopping/restaurants.

  We have stayed in this unit three times and plan to stay here again. In fact, we are so happy with this unit that we want to keep it to ourselves. The owners have the Aloha spirit of hospitality and have done more than expected to make our stay comfortable on every occasion. Honua Kai is a great place, but all owners are not the same. Mahalo Joe and Rhonda! The posted photos realistically represent the unit and views, but nothing can capture the beauty of the environment. The unit is kept clean and in good working condition with extras like beach chairs and boogie boards in the closet. Contacting the owners was originally done through vrbo.com and could not have been simpler. The owners responded quickly and it was easy to make a reservation. This unit books well, so make your reservation early. Honua Kai is centrally located between Kapalua and Kaanapali at the end of the north beach boardwalk. The drive to Kapalua or Kaanapali is only a few minutes in either direction and there is a full-service market across the street. There is also a small gourmet market in the lobby with a very friendly and responsive staff, and a health-conscious collection of items. When you want a good meal but do not feel like cooking in the beautiful kitchen in the unit, Duke's restaurant is only a short walk past the pool. The Spa is not opened yet, but the best spa on the island is only a few minutes away at Kapalua Spa. Honua Kai's two condominium towers are a wonderful new addition to West Maui and this unit 623 in the Hokulani tower is one of the best.

  We loved our stay in this Honua Kai studio! The previous reviews say it all, the property was great as was the attention we received from Joe and Rhonda. We had everything we could ask for including late checkout at no extra cost. The unit was beautiful and comfortable, and the view was gorgeous! In fact, it's nicer than it looks in the photos. We snorkeled every morning and hit the hot tubs every night. Dukes, Aina Market and even the parking were so convenient. This was our 6th Hawaiian trip and our best value on a great place to stay. We will definitely be back! This is the same unit my sister and her husband stayed in last year and we didn't even know it when we reserved. They are headed back to stay here in a few weeks. Lucky them! Do not hesitate to rent from Joe and Rhonda,

  We stayed here for 11 wonderful nights...the listing description and photos are right on...actually the view seemed better in person...Joe was there as promised to assist with our check in and the unit was very clean and comfortable...the extra attention to detail from Joe and Rhonda is terrific...you will not be disappointed...we enjoyed romantic meals on the balcony...and whale watching right from the balcony, too...we participated in Duke's Happy Hour on more than one occasion...and the cupcakes at the gourmet market were delicious...the location was perfect for us...close to surfing spots and great restaurants...we are frequent travelers and have voted this trip as one of our best...we hope to make a return trip in the very near future...thanks Joe and Rhonda!

  My husband and I were blessed to enjoy our Maui vacation in our 6th floor studio at the Honua Kai. From initial booking to check out there was not even one minute of stress. Rhonda had us well prepared before arrival, Joe met us at the curb and showed us around. The room was perfect! It was clean and well appointed and we had everything we needed. I had forgot my iPod charger and Joe let me borrow one of his. I had let Joe know during our stay that one of the kitchen lights burned out and he might want to replace it between renters. He actually had the bulb changed in less than 24 hours. The property has a great location on North Kaanapali. The property has beautiful grounds and pools and is very kid friendly but not obnoxious. Every day we woke up to the awesome view of whales just right off the shore you see in the picture! The whales were so active, we ended up going on 3 whale watches (though one could easily see mothers and calves and breeching males right off the property). Snorkeling was great right off the shoreline as well. The new boardwalk runs from the north end of Honua Kai all the way to the south end of Kaanapali - about 6 miles round trip all along the beach with just a few little deviations along different properties. This walk is great if you are wanting a short stroll or a good run. With over a dozen Maui visits, we have never had such relationship and attention to detail as we experienced from Joe and Rhonda. They have certainly set the standard for properties in Kaanapali

  Joe & Rhonda -- thank you for sharing this great spot with us. As first-time visitors to Maui, we found #623 to be everything we hoped and even some things we didn't even know to hope for. The property itself is gorgeous, contemporary, environmentally friendly and sooooo welcoming. We loved that Honua Kai was just a bit away from the fray of the main beach resort area at Kaanapali, but still close enough to be anywhere in a snap. We loved walking the beachwalk down to the restaurants at Kaanapali, but to be honest, we spent most of our restaurant and bar time at Duke's where we found the best bartenders, the best happy hour and a great menu. We snorkeled right off the beach there, and save for a couple other snorklers, we virtually had the coral gardens and fish-filled sea to ourselves. . and your beach chairs were PERFECT for the occasion -- we left you a couple of floaties for your next lucky guests. . . I was really happy that the pics on VRBO were totally accurate, the view off the lanai was prettier than it looked online. . everything was comfortable, we were really dragging ourselves out of there yesterday.   We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this unit and at Honua Kai. This sixth floor studio is perfect for couples and the ocean views were better than expected! This was our first time using a vacation property rental service and we are completely satisfied and will stay again. The unit is superb in every detail and comes very well appointed with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. Not of least significance we are quite impressed with the property managers as they are friendly, thoughtfully attentive, and provide a flawless experience to their guests. They truly live aloha and will make you feel like welcomed guests. We are especially grateful to them as they allowed us to checkout late-something that has been expensive or impossible at other hotels. We can't help but realize that quality property management should be a key item on everyone's list of things to evaluate when choosing a place to stay. Our experience was outstanding and we highly recommend staying here! Aloha a hui kaua...
