We had been looking forward to renting Starry Nite for the month of August 2013. With the help of the owners we worked out each detail of our stay. Unfortunately unexpected circumstances occurred and we had to cancel our plans and ask for our deposit to be returned. The owners were extremely understanding and our funds were returned within a week. We would definitely consider renting Starry Nite again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I waited really late to reserve lodgings for an anniversary weekend and chose this very large house because of its location, overlooking a lake (but not lakefront) and near Jacob's Pillow, Shakespeare & Co., Lee/Becket/Stockbridge/Lenox restaurants. The owner was very responsive and easy to deal with. HIs private website is detailed. We were glad for the extra space as Hurricane Irene came to visit, forcing us to stay in on Sunday. The house is on a lovely wooded lot. There is a small house nearby but we wouldn't have known they were there if it wasn't for seeing their cars. The photos and description are accurate: the kitchen is huge and well stocked--2 couples vacationing together or a family could cook for longer than a weekend with no problem. Nice having a dishwasher during a vacation. The main floor open floor plan includes a lovely dining table that faces the sliding glass doors that face the woods at the side of the house and the pond across the street. There is a wraparound deck facing the pond with a porch swing for relaxing, a very large table and chairs for outside dining on the side of the house, together with a gas grill. Irene intervened with our cooking plans, but we're sure it would be great in the summer time. We spent a lot of time in the upstairs living room, watching The Weather Channel and CNN about the storm hitting NJ and reading on the comfy couches. Didn't play with the karaoke machine downstairs, but did turn on the gas powered fireplace with some difficulties (couldn't figure out the mechanism), but once it got on, it was charming. There are plenty of games and some DVDs for entertainment. There is a master bedroom and bathroom on the main level and 2 bedrooms plus bath on the upper floor. The upstairs "master" bedroom also has sliding glass doors and an upper deck, with even better views of the pond. Huge closets, comfy beds, plenty of towels and linens, all spotless. The only con about the property isn't the property itself, but its location right on the Route 20, a busy, double-yellow road. For getting around, being on Route 20 is convenient but if you like to sleep with the windows open and are a light sleeper, the traffic going by until midnight might keep you up. Solution is to use the large bedroom on the main level, which is at the back of the house facing the woods. If you want to shop for groceries or go out to eat, Lee is closer than Becket. I'm not a shopper but the Lee Outlets are about 15 minutes from the house.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We spent the weekend of April 15-17, 2011 at Starry Nite, and we had a great time. We went for a quiet bachelorette weekend with 6 friends and we couldn't have been more comfortable. There was plenty of room for all of us. We really enjoyed hanging out around the kitchen breakfast bar (which was open to the living room/ dining room). The house is brand new and was spotless. The views from several rooms were really pretty. We also appreciated the house's convenient location (we were only a few miles from Lee, where we went to the outlet mall and also stopped to get groceries). Finally, the owners Steve and Dave were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They gave us excellent suggestions about where to go to dinner for our special occasion. Overall a very nice time, and we hope to make it make to Starry Nite sometime in the future!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We all chipped in with the rebuilding of this house. We finished construction in the fall of 2009. Here are Dave and Steve drilling a well pipe access point. As you can see, we literally started from scratch. We also enjoy two other family homes on GreenWater, and we visit all summer long! And btw, we are always looking for people to wakeboard!
Why the Owner Chose Becket:
We are an extended family that all fell in love with Becket and can especially appreciate the recreation that GreenWater Pond has to offer. Our family all went in and bought a rundown old cabin and decided to rebuild it. It was really a no brainer. With gorgeous Mountain and Lake views, private access to the lake across the street, and close proximity to year round activities, it really is a great place to bring the whole family.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This is where we go to decompress from the craziness of Boston. Whether it is soaking up sun, wakeboarding, hitting the shoppes, hitting the slopes, catching a James Taylor concert in the summer (always around the 4th by the way), catching some Hollywood folk starring in summer stock, or grabbing hot cider at the Red Lion Inn after a day of hiking the Trail in the fall ... One cannot help just feel the stress of life just melt away.
