Large historic house creates a warm setting for creating memorable events

An atmospheric and elegant venue for special parties and celebrations. I recently attended two different events, one of about 25 people, the other of over 50. Each one flowed magnificently, because there are many conversation areas and easy moving from room to room, and indoors to outdoors. I especially remember the firepit on the deck during a light rain - beautiful. A wonderful place to create happy memories. There is plenty of space for sleeping, and several guests stayed overnight after each party. The kitchen and eating areas are spacious and easy to get to without being crowded. A sit down dinner was served at a long table for the smaller function, and a barbeque with potluck was staged for the second venue. Beautifully decorated. The property meets all the criteria specified, and the owners are available to answer questions and guide you around the area. A warm and welcoming house. I recommend it to anyone seeking comfort and elegance.

Spacious and charming

My family surprised my brother for his 40th birthday with a BBQ and a weekend at the Browning Mansion. What a treat! I'll be back for more in future if ever we have another gathering in Ogden. There is plenty of space for the entire family, and with all the nooks located throughout the house there's always room for large games of charades or small groups of adults having deeper chats about life in general. The big backyard came complete with a busy squirrel whose walnut-gathering antics kept the kids busy watching for hours. And of course the hot tub was a treat for all ages.

Family Reunion

Guest: Ruth (Fort Bridger, WY)
Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 09/08/10

We just finished our Family Reunion at the Browning Mansion. The home is a Beautiful Old Lady, with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and a wonderful layout that made the kitchen the heart of the home. The yard was spacious, and we were able to have a barbecue with everyone the last day there. The Hot Tub and Steam Shower and exercise facilities were big hits. Everything we needed was readily available, clean and ready for us. We do this every year with out family, and I think this was our favorite destination so far. We had friends in the area who came and saw the home and they loved it too.

Stay was ok :(.....

Guest: Disappointed (AZ)
Date of Stay: 07/17/10 Review Submitted: 08/17/10

The house was very spacious for the amount of people we had in our group. We all slept comfortably. Unfortunately, the house was also VERY dirty! The floors made the bottom of our feet black. The showers appeared to have not been cleaned. The leaky portable AC unit soaked the carpet & caused the floor to smell of mold. The "clean" linens had dog hair on them, etc... For as large as the house is, and for as often as the house gets rented out (back to back) I don't see how the owners have time to give the house a thorough good cleaning. Also, I think the owners should post that they have a dog because parts of the house had a very strong dog odor & one person in our group is very allergic to dogs. This made her stay very uncomfortable. So anyone sensitive to animals hair/dander or mold I do not recommend this place for you. I brought these matters to the attention of the owner via email & he had nothing to say to me in return. He just mailed me back my $200 damage deposit check (which was refundable anyway) without a note, nothing. I viewed this matter should have been handled the way any other hotel or "professional" business would've handled it, a simple acknowledgement would have been nice. Instead it was as if it got swept under the rug. I would not recommend this place.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at the Browning Mansion. It was an elegant and tranquil environment where we could just relax for the weekend and forget about everything. We especially loved the interior decor of the house with its historic atmosphere and warm cozy sentiment. My husband loved how quiet and peaceful it was and also how close it was to downtown Ogden and the ski resorts (he's an avid skier). I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a romantic getaway or even something for the whole family because of its spaciousness and its numerous accommodations. The pricing was great! We feel like we got more than we paid for. The owners were so nice and helped us out with all of our questions that we had. All in all, in was a perfect experience that we will definitely do again.

What a terrific house! When I stayed at the historic Browning House I had no idea how luxurious the restoration would be. I walked in the front door of this seemingly narrow house, and I couldn't believe the spacious room inside. Your eyes take you to the great room on the left, the dining room on the right, and the stairway straight ahead. But there are even more luxurious rooms ahead. You follow the hallways into the stunning modern kitchen, go into the informal living room, and find nooks and crannies everywhere, each with their tasteful decor, each begging for you to sit there and read or just relax. And the upstairs bedrooms and downstairs office space are just as amazing. The Spanglers' taste is superb. You feel you have stepped into an elegant, quieter world -- but one with every modern comfort and convenience. I try to stay in hotels that are on the National Registry whenever I can. This house is much better than most rooms I have stayed in -- and the whole house is yours! It has so many features and is beautiful in so many ways, it is hard to know how to describe it in just a few words. Staying here is an experience that will make your visit to Ogden and the Salt Lake Valley unique and special. Don't miss it.
