The house was absolutely beyond expectations. The fresh aroma of baked bread was a great way to bring a smile to our faces upon arrival. The extra thought was appreciated. I definitely recommend this property to any other families. We had two sets of parents with a total of three children under the age of four. There are stairs, but there is a baby gate provided. Our children were entertained the whole weekend. The snow right outside the door was awesome. We did not leave once during our whole stay. We had every amenity we could have hoped for and even some that we were amazed the owners provided. We are already contemplating another stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was our second stay in this great crafted home! As before, our main objective was trout fishing and, as usual, we were not disappointed. This time we did a lot of "catch and release" fishing. We kept some but returned the lions share back to nature. We recorded and measured and by the end of our 10 night stay we had caught 76 trout 12" or over in length. Most were in the 13" - 14" range. Diann caught the largest rainbow at 16.25" (an all time record for us) and Howard was a close second place at 16.0" This trip we visited three lakes in the area as well as Hat Creek. Also, to our delight, it snowed the last two days of our stay. All in all, it was a very satisfying and enjoyable adventure. Of course we immediately signed up for another 10 night stay in 2013. Thanks Rebecca and Bob! We'll see ya then!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our first trip to Lassen. The park was stunning and only minutes away, but we spent most of the time hanging out and relaxing in the house. We enjoyed sipping coffee and reading books in the shade of the pine trees, grilling dinner nightly on the back porch, sitting by the fire alongside a picturesque creek in the backyard, and watching cable TV late at night. The kitchen is tricked out with everything a chef needs, and it's hard to go back to cooking in my own closet sized kitchen back home! Everything was clean and well maintained, with lots of personal details. Would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks Rebecca!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Two couples came, stayed, played liars dice on back deck, enjoyed the house and the Park nearby. Rebecca recommended Anselmo Winery as a place to have dinner and she was dead on accurate with her description of the place. Good call. The house and property are wonderful. We are glad we chose this place. The aroma of fresh bread baking in the bread machine greets you upon arriving. Dont know if I want to share any more as I want to keep this place all to myself.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

You cannot go wrong! Beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Bob and Rebbecca were wonderful hosts. They made us feel very welcome and were available to give us some ideas about what to do. We had 9 people and there was plenty of room. My sisters and I rented the cabin for our parents 50th wedding aniversary and (patting myself on the back) we couldn't have picked a nicer place. My parents could not have been happier! Great location to take day trips and good fishing nearby. We will be back next time we get a chance.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed here with some friends - it's a lovely home, with great amenities! We have an 17-month old, and the house was easy to toddler-proof. Our friends went hiking in Mt Lassen park, but we just hung out at the house. Our daughter enjoyed running around the house, climbing the stairs on the decks (holding hands!), and playing in the back yard. (Note that the creek is not really accessible for little ones - kids older than 5 or so might enjoy playing in it). We took advantage of the well-equipped kitchen and grill, and relaxed in the jacuzzi tub.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Where to start!? A perfect balance of comfort and nature: From the beautiful house with cozy beds, great kitchen, and barbecue decks galore; to the miles of nature just outside your door - This place has it all. Lassen park and beautiful Lake Manzanita entrance are 5 minutes away, or just lounge in the hammock by the creek. In the evening enjoy a small fire in the outside fire pit by the creek, then crawl into your cozy bed. My wife called it "glamping" - glamour camping. And she's right - all of the beauty of the great outdoors with all the comforts of home. We will be back soon! PS the owners are a joy to work with - efficient, accessible and helpful throughout the entire process. Thank you both!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

An extremely comfortable house, with the perfect location for Lassen. Our host was most helpful, both throughout the reservation process and at the property. The welcome home-made bread, and the lit fire at the creek on arrival were nice homely touches. Whilst we had mixed weather, we (father and 3 grown up sons from the UK) had a great time exploring the surrounding area and enjoying the many photographic expeditions that we undertook for the scenery and wildlife. We really liked Burney Falls, and we were there early enough to avoid the Memorial week-end crowds thus allowing for excellent photography. Mount Shasta and McCloud were other favourites, including the Mushroom, Wine and Music Festival at the latter. A visit to the Fall River Valley provided a delightful contrast to the forest and mountains of Lassen, and a day in the Caribou Wilderness reminded us just how easy it would be to get lost if not taking proper care.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Our family of 7 stayed here for 3 nights during Easter break 2012. This home is certainly a notch above many rentals we've stayed at. It's a custom home with spacious floor plan (my estimate around 2000sqft) and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with spices for your cooking. Obviously the owners care a lot for the need of guests. There's a neighboring home on the right but no one on the left. We love hearing the sound of the stream in the back and the lovely forest. The home is so conveniently located 10 minutes from Lassen Park. Too bad the park roads were closed this time of the year, though we ventured in and spent an hour walking around the frozen lake. We understand trout fishing must be good here. I wanted to go fishing with my newly bought poles, but my kids were not patient. We look forward to a return in warmer time when the park is open. This time we went to Redding, Shasta Caverns and Shasta Dam (good free informative tour) as side trip. This beautiful home has been a great retreat for us. Next time will have be a longer stay. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The mountain home is clean, warm, comfortable and welcoming. As a serious home cook, I loved its kitchen. Three families fitted very well with 4 little kids. Our trip was to seek for snow for our city kids. There was not much accumulated snow like last year this time, but luckily it snowed while we stayed and kids enjoyed falling snow and sled on a shallow hill near the house and in the north gate Lassen park (the park was closed but we played near the park office) which is very close from the house. I walked around the house in the snow and I enjoyed a relaxing and tranquil moment very much. We definitely come back for summer to enjoy its large deck, a bbq grill and a little creek next to the deck. Thank you for sharing your house!Recommended for: Families with young children

This was our first VRBO experience and we were very pleased to find such a quality dog friendly listing. The home is furnished in a very comfortable and practical manner, and the kitchen is well stocked with most every appliance and gadget you will need to prepare your meals. With outside temperatures getting down to the single digits, the kerosene heater in the dining area puts out more than ample heat for most of the house. The forested setting and creek create a relaxing atmosphere. Our original travel plans centered around snow related activities. However, Mother Nature cheated us on this and there was no accessible snow to be found in the entire region. Despite this, the area still provided our rather active family with plenty of brisk and beautiful hikes, even with the many seasonal closures this time of the year. We are already discussing a return trip when family schedules permit especially being it finally started to snow the day after we left.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a hidden gem!! Such a beautiful spot in the forest, especially with the babbling creek behind the cabin! No snow yet this winter but we didn't miss it a bit!!! This mountain home is above and beyond the description! So inviting, relaxing, quiet, and we are foodies, wow, what a kitchen to work in! Everything is at your fingertips and exceptionally clean! Our hosts, Bob and Rebecca were so gracious, giving us lots of information about what is within just several miles......We will certainly RETURN for more adventures with family and extended families! We are only 1 1/2 hrs away and the drive up to 4,500ft is spectacular, so close, yet so far away (or so it seems)! My husband and I, and our dog, Radley, spent 4 wonderful days in Lassen Park area and thoroughly enjoyed the home of Rebecca and Bob. Rebecca and Bob have thought of all of the details to make their home comfortable including placing chairs right by the creek. We cooked out every night and took walks down the lane in the evening. We didn't want for a single thing and have already talked about returning. This is a great place for a dog. Our puppy, Radley, is a 'city' puppy and she had a ball playing outdoors, especially by the creek. Five stars this home is!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners.

Thank you Rebecca and Bob. Great home! The attention to detail was truly appreciated (the crown moldings). Our trip was mainly to trout fish and there were several prime locations near the rental (sorry, the actual locations and methods are top secret). For our 8 night stay we scored 48 trout. The largest was a 16" rainbow caught by Howard and the largest brookie was 13" caught by Diann. The others were in the 11" range. The trout were frozen and survived the trip home to be enjoyed over the next few weeks. Every time we crank out the frying pan and toss a couple on we'll be thinking of you and your great home in Viola. See you again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is one of the best vacation homes I have ever stayed at. Very nice, clean, well layed out floorplan. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready. Sitting just a few yards away from a beautiful stream, in a very private location. Close to all of the Mt Lassen activities. Nothing can beat enjoying dinner on one of the several large decks, overlooking the stream and forest around you. Then, falling asleep to the sounds of the stream at night. The owners are fantastic and very accessible. A beautiful house in a wonderful position, everything you could want or need. Lassen Park is only 10 minutes away and only an hour to the SW entrance. The hiking is excellent lakes, forests and mountains as far as the eye can see. We had an amazing time exploring the park for the first time the highlights included Bumpass Hell, Lassen Peak (unfortunately the summit was closed - path repairs), Brokeoff Mountain, Cinder Cone, Subway Cave, Burney Falls and of course not forgetting the encounter with a bear and her three cubs. This a place you must not miss and must spend time to relax and to get to know the area, Rebecca and Bob provide the ideal location - relax on the decks in the sun or down by the stream or just walk in the woods from the door. Rebecca and Bob are very and helpful and friendly and were a delight to meet their house full of interest does them credit. We just hope we will be able to visit again - sooner rather than later.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed here while hiking for a few days in Lassen. Everything is new and all the details have been thought of. The decor is comfortable, but imaginative with several hunting trophies and exotic touches in the main room and master bedroom. The outdoor spaces are especially lavish, with 4 decks and an array of comfortable, cushioned chaises, chairs and tables to enjoy the lovely, creekside setting. Even though the home is in the woods, it's extremely light at all times of the day. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from spending 3 nights in this beautiful mountain home. It exceeded our expectations, expectations that were already high after reading the reviews of others! The home is in a beautiful setting and we particularly enjoyed the sounds of the rushing creek that runs behind the home. We had a lot of fun relaxing on the home's four decks, hiking in Lassen Park which is just up the road, and catching our limit of trout in two different nearby lakes. Just want to echo the content of all the prior 5-star reviews. Extremely nice, serene, comforatble, and well equipped place. The pictures do not do it justice, without a doubt, the nicest back deck and back yard of ANY place that I have ever stayed at in the Sierras and I've stayed at quite a few. Be sure to come well provisioned as you can't just run down to the corner store to pick up a stick of butter or a 6-pack. Its a good 15-20 minute drive to the nearest market, and while it has all the basics, it is pretty small. The hosts are extremely nice and accommodating.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The prior reviews are accurate... pictures don't do this home justice! It is absolutely beautiful. Your vacation begins with a sign posted outside welcoming your party. You then enter the home and it is kept in immaculate condition. I think this is partially the case because the owner has a "no shoes inside" policy. This was fine with us as we don't wear shoes in our own home. My party and I then ran through the home as if we were kids in a candy store. Our "tour" ended by exploring the backyard- this was the best! Nothing can beat a hammock next to a running stream. At night we made smores next to the firepit in the backyard and simply relaxed. If we had planned to stay at the house longer we would have spent more time just hanging out. However, because my party was there for only three days, we felt obligated to explore our surroundings. The house is in a perfect location. It only took about 50 minutes to get to Burney Falls and about 15 minutes to Mount Lassen. The ony complaint that my party had was that the beds were a bit uncomfortable. They were too soft for our tastes. Good thing I was amongst a group of chiropractors! Thanks Rebecca for sharing your house with us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. The VRBO description is very accurate. The house accommodated our party (four adults, two children) easily, allowing enough privacy for everyone. It is very well equipped and maintained, and the setting is magical. Lassen park is just around the corner, and there are many other attractions nearby (we loved Burney Falls and Subway cave). The fire pit was the high point for the kids - and we had all the fun of camping (s'mores etc.) AND a decent shower and bed afterwards. We highly recommend it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from vacationing in this very comfortable home. The owners have thought of everything to make staying in their vacation home welcoming, easy, and relaxing. From the warm bread and jam waiting for us, to spices in the cupboard, cooking equipment, linens, cleaning supplies, and logs for the fire pit, it was a perfect getaway place. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor living space to enjoy. The photographs don't due justice to the beautiful location of this home. Everything was very clean. The owners checked in with us during the week to make sure we had no questions or problems. Despite 2 days of rain mid-week, and three-fourths of the trails and roads in Lassen Park being closed due to the snow cover, we found something to do each day of our vacation. The park is beautiful, and worth a visit. Highlights include kayaking on Lake Manzanita, hiking up Cinder Cone, hiking the Spatter Cone trail, and visiting Subway Cave. One rainy day activity was visiting several local wineries; a great way to spend some time. Visiting nearby Mount Tehama Winery was especially fun. There are very limited options nearby for eating out, so be prepared to do your own cooking. We planned ahead and shopped before arriving in the area. The local stores do have items available to fill in whatever you might need. All in all, this was a relaxing vacation. We heartily recommend staying at this home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I wanted to go away from the city (SF) to a relaxing, restful spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This "Touch of Home" was the perfect spot for our needs. We found the house to be just as described in the VRBO ad, only better. The pictures are accurate - this place is a gem! The house is very clean and well-maintained. The owner came to greet us a little while after we arrived, and brought us fresh strawberries! And there was a loaf of fresh, warm homemade bread ready for us with butter and jam. The house is about 40 miles from I-5 and the big box stores but it's far enough that you feel totally secluded (you ARE totally secluded!). The house is beautifully furnished and all cooking necessities are there (except, of course, your food). We had planned on driving into Lassen Park and seeing the sights in and around the area. Instead of that, though, we got 4" of snow (in late May!), which kept us inside, watching the snow fall in thick blankets outside. It was really beautiful. We had a wonderful vacation just being together at the house - instead of driving all over the place sightseeing. It was probably in our favor that it snowed. If you decide to rent this house, you won't be sorry. The owners are wonderful and very caring people. They want their guests to be comfortable and that's just what happened for us. We loved it and hope to go back at some point in the not too distant future! One last thing - the "Shingle Shack" restaurant in Shingletown (12 minutes from the house) has good, home-cooked food at great prices. Not fancy but definitely good.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

To wake up every morning, sit on the deck in the middle of a scented cedar forest listening to the music of a babbling creek and enjoy the bluest blue of a cloudless sky was pure heaven. We stayed for a week at this lovely home in a most beautiful area, Rebecca & Bob have placed great attention to detail when planning for their guests. The home is very comfortable & welcoming with such creative use of the substantial outside space that you are never short of somewhere to sit & take in a different view. Beds & bathrooms can so frequently let a rental home down, not here, lovely comfortable beds & spotlessly clean bathrooms. The park itself is quite beautiful & if you are a keen walker there are more than enough hikes available to keep every level of experience amused for a week, we ran out of time. We would highly recommend this home to others.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This lovely mountain home was ideal for our family and friends. We truly relaxed after arriving to fresh fruit and the aroma of baking bread. There was not anything we could have wanted for, except maybe a personal chef. The weather in August was perfect. There was some successful fishing and a delicious fish fry was had by all. Sitting by the creek watching the children enjoying a bon fire, roasting marshmellows, telling ghost stories was especially fun. We would surely try and return in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We spent three relaxing, happy days here in mid-July. A modern, spacious, artful and practical house for the five of us. Perfect for meals, sitting in the sun, sleeping, planning for the day in Lassen park and going slow in the evening. Loved the windows and the light, especially in the morning. And the sound of the creek, which fills the house. Great decks and grass down by the creek. Lovely decor and artistic touches. Good, fun and practical shopping in Shingletown, not so far down the road. And going into the park, which is just a few minutes drive from the house. Also, fast wireless connection for laptop children. And Rebecca and Bob. Perfect hosts. Highly and totally recommended. We will be back. This is truly a 5 star vacation rental. Spacious and colorful rooms are stunning with their combination of of Asian and whimsical decor. The setting is gorgeous among the pines overlooking a sparkling creek. We spent a great deal of time relaxing on the lush lawn creekside. The several decks offer a variety of settings for outside dining. We prefer a firm bed and the upstairs King met our standards, while our guests said the downstairs queen was also firm and comfortable. There is an abundance of closet space for storing anything you bring. The owners have obviously invested a great amount of time and labor into making this a Shangri-la in the woods. We walked the lane to look at other homes and this is the nicest on the block in a premier setting. Will definitely try to rent this again when we visit Lassen area. We were here for five days, but can see it as being a perfect retreat for relaxing for even a couple of days.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This house was just beautiful! It says "touch of home" but it was better than home! The creek-side location provided cooling breezes and a woodsy view. The home was comfortable and spacious. The owners, Bob and Rebecca, were especially accommodating (even with our late arrival). There were only three of us, but the house would definitely suit more. We didn't even have to use the upstairs. The multiple patios were great for meals or just relaxing. The house was very close to the north entrance of Lassen NP. If we make it back to California, we would definitely stay again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

A beautiful house in a great location. Everything is first class, the house is decorated beautifully and has all the amenities of home. We especially enjoyed spending time on the multi-level deck, dining and just lounging. The creekside firepit made for great evening family time, making s'mores and telling stories.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your positive comments about our property. We hope to see you up our way in the future, Regards, Bob & Rebecca Moore

Our group of nine had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home near Lassen National Park. When we arrived fresh bread was cooking and there was sliced melon in the frig! Rebecca came soon and gave us more info on the house. The kitchen was very well equipped and we enjoyed using it. We grilled out and ate outside on the decks...there were heaters to take the chill off! My husband LOVED the comfort of the stream, he said he could sit there all day long. The house is remote - but so is the whole area around Lassen. You have neighbors, but don't really see them - if you do they are friendly and wave. One of the best things about this house (besides it's beauty!) is that is close to the park. It's only about 10 minutes away to Manzanita Lake entrance. Rebecca had several suggestions for things to see and do during our stay. She also helped us with a quick route to the interstate on our departure. She is very attentive to her guests! When we arrived home, a thank you note was waiting and the deposit we made. WOW! Our only complaint was the bedding, which apparently the folks in our group all like really firm beds. If we ever make our way to Northern California again, we will definitely stay at this property...but book early because it will go quickly. There are many other perks, including internet, movies, books and games!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Photos can't give proper justice to this beautiful home. We, 3 adults + 4 kids (9 to 12), were extremely comfortable in this spacious home. Fully equipped kitchen with gas grill on the deck. Owners just down the street and very gracious and fair. Cleaning deposit returned before we got home. Beautiful stream running out back provides great view regardless of weather. Close to Lassen Park and Burney Falls. Easy drive from Sacramento and to Crater Lake (with a stop at Shasta Dam). Have used 12+ VRBOs over 20 years from Lake Tahoe to Door County to St. Croix. Highly recommend this home. Beats any hotel!!! Love the fresh baked bread. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit for which our host and hostess went out of the way to ensure a good time. The charming location on a burbling creek, the eclectic wildlife decorations and the superbly furnished kitchen, baths, great-room and bedrooms were a joy to the four adults in our party. Do those musicians on the rocks out back really come alive at night and play enchanting tunes? Ah, maybe it was all just a dream but what a dream it was! Kudos for Rebecca and the highest possible recommendation for this very special property.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
