Next to open space! Bear Haven is located on a quiet, relatively flat street one block from the Lake and close to all the activities you would need for your vacation. Easy bike ride to the beach, Tahoma, Sugar Pine State Park, Homewood or Sunnyside. Huge uncrowded forest, creeks and trails directly behind the cabin (complete with trail map)! This was the site of the Olympic Trails Winter Nordic Recreation Site for the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics!
We'll send you a trail map to hike, snowshoe, mountain bike or cross country ski from the cabin. You can even ski home into the backyard in Winter from Homewood Mountain Resort! Come and park your car and enjoy all that this neighborhood has to offer. There is even a peak of Lake Tahoe and the shore beyond!
This home is well-known for all of the fun features - especially a large GAME ROOM with pool table, ping pong table, TV/VCR/DVD, video games,CD player, fireplace, wet bar and lots of extras. If you need to work on vacation, we have complimentary wireless internet! Enjoy the private hot tub on one of the several decks after your active day and observe the abundant wildlife that the Westshore is famous for. There is a good reason that we call it 'Bear Haven'! The house backs to Open Space with a great network of trails to hike or mountain bike. Close proximity to the Westshore Bike Path allows you to explore north to Tahoe City (and beyond) or south to Sugar Pine State Park.
In Winter walk or ski down the quiet street to the wonderful Homewood Mountain Ski Resort (check their website) and ski home gently through the trees at the end of your day, or for lunch! Homewood Mountain Resort is the most wonderful place to ski, especially for families, with incredible lake views and is so spacious, even weekends are uncrowded! Groomed X-country trails and a sledding hill are a few miles south at Sugar Pine State Park.
Summer is highlighted by the opening of the famous Chamberlands Membership Only Beach Club (June 20-Sept 7) with two private beaches (a main beach and a baby beach), pool and tennis for members only(no extra charge). Launch your own boat close by at Homewood Marina, and tie up at Chamberlands for the day! Complimentary paddle boats are great fun for the family at the Chamberlands private beach.
Bear Haven is a member of both Chamberlands Beach and Mountain Club (beach) and Chamberlands Recreation Association (pool and tennis) and access to the Club by bike path or complimentary Shuttle Bus(6/27-8/16) will`accommodate everyone's schedule. Our home is within walking distance to Homewood Market, Westshore Sports (bike and ski rental), Pisano's Pizza and Old Tahoe Cafe. If you choose to wander to civilization, Tahoe City's restaurants, shops and nightlife are only five miles away.
This three level A-frame has four bedrooms: the Bear room, Cub room, Deer room and Wolf room and a bath on each level. The bedding is king(first level), queen plus twin (mid level), queen plus full and queen plus twin (third level); 6TV's, 6VCR's with VHS library, 3 DVD players, playstation, nintendo, games, books, toys, Summer sand toys, puzzles, sleds. Linens and many extras included. Although we have made an effort to make Bear Haven child friendly, adult supervision is necessary.

Dear Debbi We are just waking on our last morning at Bear Haven and we had a wonderful time. This is the perfect size place for us and our clan and the large deck out front was perfect for the get together we hosted on Friday afternoon. My sons and grandsons had a great time with the ping-pong, pool and Nintendo. You have a wonderful home that has all of the things you need to have a perfect vacation. I was worried when we left Reno to come up here that we would not have all the things we needed, but you have stocked the cabin so well w only needed food....and we brought too much of that. Last night I was in the hot tub with my two daughters and two grandsons and when I said we should plan a week at Bear Haven every summer from now on, they all gave it a big thumbs up!
