  We just got back from a week at this most wonderful home. The first impression we had was that it was so private and well maintained. The pond became a focal point for our family. We had morning tea/coffee there on the dock and watched the sunrise reflections. We also sat there and fished and then when sunset came, we watched the colors dance in the water. The home was spacious and beautiful. We had 7 adults and we all had a place to escape to if needed. The owner lives nearby which makes it great if you have a question. The location was perfect. A short walk to Dorries Cove beach and you can sit there and watch the sunset while leaning against driftwood. We have nothing negative to say about our stay. We fell in love with Block Island and also this home. Thank you so much to the owner and for providing so many extras that we have never had at other vacation rentals. So many games (outdoor and in) and the hammocks under the trees were perfect during the heatwave.The house had many fans to cool us and also the nearby ocean breezes. We would love to come back to this house. Just totally perfect. We miss it already. We recommend it 100%.

  Owner response: I am always happy to hear when people enjoy their stay at my rental home. I make improvements and add amenities every winter while the house in not rented. I am always open to suggestions on how to enhance the property so that people can really relax and have the get a way they deserve. Leave all your electronic gadgets at home, if possible, and take time to smell the roses. Life is too short to be a slave to the rat race. These guests had the right idea and were a pleasure to rent to. They are welcome back any time!

  We stayed here with a few friends for Fathers Day weekend. We ony had two nites but loved it here. the house ison a private road and has a beautiful deck, very peaceful. The hammocks were wonderful and so is the swing on the deck. Just what we were hoping for. The house had plenty of room, Very nice living room. It is very breezy which is perfect! !Close to new harbor. Hope to come back and stay longer. Although we did not have a chance to meet the owners, they could not be more helpful. Sue P

  This was our first time staying on Block Island so I don't have much to compare this too but overall it was a nice place to stay. Our biggest complaint was being overwhelmed with the smell of febreeze and air freshener when we got to this house. It was overwhelming, and with the rainy weather, it took a few days to air out the master bedroom. The owner is more than accomodating and it should be noted that he lives in a house on the same property so its not totally private. The property is very spacious and the hammocks are a delight. We didn't spend any time on the fishing dock as there was just too much goose poop. I personally wouldn't stay here again but is good for large families looking for a spacious place to relax that isn't too fancy. I thought the cleaning fee was a little steep for the condition we left the house (especially considering the smell when we got there) but not enough to make a big stink about it.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, families with teenagers.

  Owner response: I apologize for my zealous efforts to eliminate odors from previous guests. I do my best to ensure a clean and fresh environment when new guests arrive. I live about 400 feet from my rental property and I am quickly available for any questions my renters may have, without being intrusive. I do not control the wildlife on the property and many guests find the various animals appealing. I try to clean the dock as often as possible. I am an animal lover and allow pets on a case by case basis. I do not charge any extra rental fees or security deposit fees, as do many other property owners. I will reconsider allowing pets now due to the large amount of dog hair and odors that some renters leave. Most pet owners in the past have been very responsible.

  I'm submitting this review to vouch for the integrity of this owner. We didn't actually get to stay at the property thanks to Hurricane Irene interfering with our vacation. We were very disappointed about having to cancel, but the owner made it much easier for us by giving us a full refund right away - no questions or hassle, just sympathy. I find renting on VRBO to be a little nerve-racking because you don't know who you're dealing with, but have no fear renting from this owner!

  Recommended for: Families with young children.

  Owner response: I try to work with my renters as much as possible, from beginning to end, to make the process hassle free and provide as much as I can to make their stay enjoyable. When natural disasters strike, it's nobody's fault - more than reasonable efforts are made for a full refund or credit towards a future rental.

  Our family truly enjoyed our stay at the house -- we have 2 teenage boys and a pre-teen girl and they were thrilled with the property. We've stayed at Block Island as a family 2 other times elsewhere but the owner added many special touches like the volleyball net, boogie boards, croquet, horseshoe's, fishing poles, etc. We took advantage of these perks so despite a nice flat-screen TV we didn't watch a second of television. Despite the week being hot, the house sits on a hill so the breezes really helped. The house has views of ponds from both sides of the house, with 2 decks, so there was a choice of 2 peaceful views for all meals and lounging. We would highly recommend this to friends/family and hope to return.

  We and our young adult children spent a wonderful week here in early September. The house was very spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for all of us. The house was immaculate and well equipped. We enjoyed having dinner on the deck as the sun set, and our sons loved fishing in the pond right on the property. The location is just a short drive away from New Harbor and town, and a 10-15 minute walk to Dorrie's Cove. The owner was extremely nice, very hospitable and helpful. We highly recommend this rental.

  Our family stayed for 2 weeks this summer and enjoyed every minute of it. Very comfortable, a home away from home. Plenty of space indoors and out. Afternoons, we enjoyed the shady hill top under the apple trees in the hammocks after hiking or a day at the beach. Horse shoe pit, badmitten and volleyball provided other outdoor entertainment. The outdoor shower was also a treat with a window to watch the sunset while you shower. Walking distance to Dorries Cove or Graces beach, far enough away from the noise and crowds of town. The owner was very hospitable and welcoming, gave us lots of privacy but was available if we needed him. We will be back.

  What a wonderful experience on Block Island! My family and friends rented this home and enjoyed everything about it. The house is spacious and has a simply relaxing atmosphere with its refreshing Block Island breeze, beautiful sunsets, and daily wildlife on the property. The owner was extremely helpful and readily available to any needs we made have had. The house is well-maintained and pride in ownership is certainly evident. Also, the house is located very close by to Dory's Cove which had the most amazing sunsets, also visible from the house deck and the outdoor shower! Town shops, beaches, and restaurants are a short drive or bike ride away. My family and friends were already talking about how we would love to return to this home next year.

  We enjoyed staying in this peaceful and pastoral setting. The owner was very helpful; even waiting for us at the end of the road to make sure we found the right place in the dark. The property was very clean and well maintained with a well-equipped kitchen. Our grandchildren, ages 10 and 11, loved the pond, horses down the road, and the hammocks. Their favorite activities were fishing , drawing the horses, riding bikes to Mohegan Bluffs, and at Mansion Beach; boogie boarding and finding starfish. We would love to return to this wonderful home. The property and amenities are better than the photographs suggest.

  We had a beautiful week on Block Island. The location of the home was beautiful, walking distance to wonderful sunsets on Doreys Cove beach. Sitting on the deck of this home was extremely relaxing with a great view of the pond and wildlife. We saw deer almost everyday. Owner was very helpful to our needs.
