Welcome to Casa Paradisio, our home away from home in Bocas del Toro, Panama. Our goal is to provide you with an unique rental experience that you will never forget. You will find Casa Paradisio to be a place where dreams come true if only for a week or so at a time.
The house provides an authentic island venue with excellent amenities and incredible opportunities to enjoy nature. Our lies off a white sand beach at the end of a long dock surrounded by the waters of the Caribbean. The area is very quiet and relatively remote with only a few houses and even fewer resorts found along miles and miles of beach. Despite its distance from town there are still dining and entertainment options available at nearby resorts and restaurants.
When building the house we chose to use only local materials and remain consistent with the Island Style of construction of the area. As such, you will find natural wood walls made of Cana Fistola – a rich looking wood with a rusty reddish tint, hand cut floors made with dark and dense Niespero – one of the hardest woods known to man and an authentic thatched roof fastened with Bahuca vines from the surrounding jungle. We also chose to build Green and as such have incorporated solar panels for generating electricity and a solar hot water system to heat water. The furniture is all hand crafted – some cut out of huge trees that were then decorated with carvings by a passing Teribe Indian and others that were made by local craftsmen in Almirante. The home is simple but exotic with locally made Bahama shutters and a porch to die for.
Rancho Paradisio is the perfect place for a family getaway or for romance – it is a place to unwind and to relax and enjoy the island lifestyle most of us only dream about.

Be informed when visiting this hut on the beach it is relly a hut!. We had a great time. Place was clean and quaint. The hut is not around groceries so make sure you have plenty of food and ice. (there is no refrigeration, but they do supply you with a cooler and blocked ice.) Be aware there are no restaurants but there are two eco lodges near buy, about 1 mile from the hut. You have to have a 24 hr. notice but certainly worth it. The hut is really open too..like things can fly in though rare..and don't forget you are in the tropical jungle. The local natives are wonderful. The neighbors are all helpful. There is this fabulous little beach bar, it is not opened often..but they have these potlucks that are a great time and fun drinks. There is great security as well . May want to be sure septic systems are up to par...Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This place was awesome and the caretakers Mike and Christine were so helpful and nice. It was beautiful! We went over Christmas vacation, which is not the best time to snorkel. The water was cloudy from the rain and wind. They were having unusually rainy and windy weather when we were there. I would definitly come back during better snorkling weather because you could snorkel from the house. Isla Bastimentos is a great place to get away from it all. I know Mike and Christine can arrange snorkeling trips by boat also. We had a guide take us up a river on kayaks to look at sloths and birds. Lots of beautiful sunsets right from the porch.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I spend a week at Casa Paradisio in January and had an amazing time. The warm, crystal clear water was perfect to cool off in, and the beaches provided lots of places to explore. If your looking for a place to kick back and relax then this is the place. Falling asleep to the sounds of the waves coming to shore at night was perfect, and waking up early with a cup of coffee to watch the local villagers head out to fish in their canoes... this place was great. The caretakers, Micheal and Christine were very helpful and were always close by if you needed anything. They were able to help us top up our water supply with no notice, and even lent out their personal mask and snorkels so we could go explore the reef close to the hut. Casa Paradisio was the perfect escape from everyday life for us, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to truly relax.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The casita met all of our expectations and more. We were looking for an 'off-the-grid' experience, and found it here. The description and pictures are very accurate. This space was perfect for relaxing. Snorkeling is perfect here; nearby reefs everywhere and shallow, clear waters. The back deck of the house was where we spent a lot of our time. It feels very private and offers nice views of the other islands and mainland. Not a lot of people to be seen, besides indigenous locals. One came by to sell us fish, which we grilled up one night. We're foodies, so we cooked almost all of our meals, which wasn't too hard in the space. Not much is cheap here (I suspect due to the high cost of gas and difficulty getting anything to the islands), so we found it advantageous to buy groceries in Bocas town and bring with us. We definitely recommend bringing more bottled water and ice than you would possibly think you'll need. Chances are you'll need it. Outdoor shower was great. A solar water heater insured that we had warm water (not that you really need it. It's perpetually in the 70s). We don't have a lot of negative feedback, but the beds were a little short and uncomfortable. We also recommended a couch downstairs, rather than single seats. Beyond that, it's was quite an amazing experience. We would also recommend only two people stay here. It's small, which is perfect for a couple, but we have trouble imagining how well the place would be for a family. Be advised, you're essentially off the grid, so don't expect to have much access to internet or food stuffs. A trip to Bocas is almost an hour each way and not cheap. Really plan to bring everything you need for the entire time you're staying. Having said that... Michael and Christine (the house managers) are very friendly and helpful. They did a good job of preparing us for the stay, but were also willing to help where ever they could. Michael went out of his way to provide guidance for us, answered all of our questions, and took us on some great excursions. These are good people who want a better world for the local Panamanians. We felt like we left having developed a friendship with them. We would definitely stay here again to get away from it all.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We spent a few days in January 2011 with our three children, (pre-teens). What a wonderful experience, visiting the local indians (we went on a trek in the jungle to nearby bat caves), snorkeling, and spending time with each other. Michael & Christine were wonderful but the best part is the house itself. My boys were amazed that when it rained the water did not get thru the thatched roof. A great experience and we hope to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We spent 3 nights here and left completely relaxed. The location on the southern tip of Bastimentos is a world away from the activity of Bocas town. This place is ideal for a couple who likes to swim or kayak (the water is very clear and warm, no waves and quite shallow until you go quite a ways out), go on day trips exploring the Zapatillas, the indigenous community of Salt Creek, or a cocoa farm run by friends of Michael's, or simply sit on your private porch looking out at the water. The kitchen is modest but perfectly suitable for vacation meal preparation; if you want fresh fish, you can walk down the beach and see what the local fishermen have caught. The excellent food of Al Natural (dinner for $30/person, including alcohol) is within a half hour's walk down the beach if you reserve earlier in the day, or you can arrange to have 1-3 meals per day provided in the hut by a local chef. The hut seems larger than it appears in the photos, and felt more private than the nearby cottages along the shore because of its location over the water. It is is not the place for people who expect air conditioning, cable TV, etc., and you need to climb a set of ladder-like stairs to get to the bedroom/bathroom area. You may be visited by some small lizards or land crabs or insects: you are in the thick of nature here. But everything is very well maintained and we had all the electricity and hot water we needed. It's like camping in a private luxury hut. The caretakers and local guides, Michael and Christine, are very gracious and helpful: they give you the privacy you want but are available in a pinch if you need them. All told, we had a very nice stay and would definitely recommend Casa Paradisio to other couples who want to escape for a few days.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Me and my fiancée had a great time staying five nights at this location. Not only was the property beautiful and tranquil but Michael and Christine, the on-site property managers, were delightful and extremely helpful as both friends and guides. If lounging in the house, preparing your own meals, and reading on the porch ever becomes tiresome you need only set off down the beach or slip into the water to snorkel on the nearby reef. Paddle around. Grab a boat to the Zapatilla islands for another great snorkeling treat. This place is highly recommended. I'm already planning our next visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We wanted to thank you for a wonderful experience at Salt Creek. It was great from the initial meeting with Josephine (who helped arrange transport and suggested supplies), to the smooth, glassy pleasure cruise back to Bocas Town on the inside passage of Bastimentos with boat captain Pablo. We'd like to commend you on the great fit of Rancho Paradisio with the local culture and environment. We appreciated that the home did not detract from the native lifestyle in Salt Creek. The local materials and vernacular style of Casa Paradisio are an example of a hand crafted, well-designed bungalow with style. What a nice place to get back to basics and unplug with all we needed to cook and the opportunity to have food prepared for us by Cecilia in the casa. We were able to communicate with an interesting, changing, well-organized, proud local indigenous community with a strong culture and spent much time talking with our hosts Cecilia and village native Rocando, as well as playing with the village kids. Cecilia prepared a great fresh-catch fish and showed us her lovely handcrafted jewelry. We learned a lot walking with our guide Delphine and seeing sloths, twp species of red frogs, leaf cutter ants, with the aroma of flowers and cacao and a great view on Pelican Beach. There is much to be said for the local's knowledge of medicinal plants, the area, and the resources on Bocas. Fresh Noni juice was great! The view of Zapatillas was gorgeous as was the beach in front of the stilted walkway to rancho. We LOVED being over the water. We had a gorgeous view of clear waters from upstairs, lounging on the rear ocean-facing porch. We were treated to views of jumping silver schools of fish high-tailing it from large predator fish, leopard spotted sting rays, jumping Manta Rays, what appeared to be distant Flying Fish hovering over water, Urchins, Huge orange and red Starfish, a variety of colorful tropical fish of all sizes. We enjoyed watching fisherman gliding by in wooden boats and stopping to snorkel nearby for Lobster. We have found our own little paradise in Playas de Nosara, Costa Rica VRBO 96913 & 11240 in the cowboy country of Guanacaste on the Pacific. These neighboring countries share common geography but the culture is quite different. We still love to travel and enjoyed experiencing the contrast of the Caribe and an indigenous culture. The house lived up to it's name...we felt like we were in our own little Bocas paradise. Thanks, We'll be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: My partners and I discovered this incredible part of Panama in late 2002 and bought this property on our first trip. The white sand beach and amazing views plus close proximity to a vibrant reef were too much to pass up. A year or so after buying the property we started construction on what we envisioned as the finest over the water home in Bocas del Toro. I think you will agree that we achieved our goal. At present we have business interests in Panama and visit often with family and friends. Feel free to Google my name and learn more about me. Thanks!
Why the Owner Chose Salt Creek:
There are many reasons why we chose to construct our home here. First and foremost was the white sand beach - the only one of its kind in the Bocas del Toro Archipelago. This beach stretches for miles and behind it lies a beautiful and diverse jungle teeming with life. We also fell in lover with the nearby reefs and the incredible views of Caribbean, the Zapatilla Islands and the distant mountains of the Bluefields. Having the Indian Village at Salt Creek nearby was also a strong determining factor as it provided us with native people who we could interact with and learn from. Finally, we liked the fact that we were 30 minutes or so from the hustle and bustle of Bocas Town. This remoteness lent to the spirit of adventure we felt and still feel today.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Casa Paradisio is a place to relax and commune with nature. There is no TV, no telephone and no computer to distract from enjoying yourself and your friends. Taking a morning swim, or an afternoon walk on the beach or a trip to the reef are experiences you will come to appreciate. Sometimes time seems to stand still. We often climb into a hammock and let the day pass while being touched by nothing other than the breeze coming off the Caribbean. Casa Paradisio is also about romance - it is hard not to grow closer to your partner amid the quite enjoyment of the place. Cocktails at sunset and candlelight dinners are natural expressions here.
