Everything you will want in a place to stay in Sidney BC
Everything you will want in a place to stay in Sidney BC
This is one of the nicest little spots to stay if you are visiting Sidney, BC. Not only is it spotless, it has all the conveniences.. including an espresso maker! A washer and dryer sure come in handy if you have been travelling. We have family in the area but don't want to be "under foot" so we stay here and it is really lovely. We used the BBQ when our family came to visit and it was so nice not having to go to a restaurant! The bed is so comfy... with the salt air you could sleep for hours! Sue and Don are excellent hosts and are very accommodating as well. An easy walk to everything in the area. We will return again soon!

Owner response: It's really lovely for us to have guests, like yourselves, who continue to return time and time again. Makes the booking even quicker and easier than usual, since you know what to expect. And we love to hear all your latest news.

This property was perfect for us as we needed to rent somewhere close to our own home while we negotiated with contractors for future renovations. It is the perfect location for getting out and about in Sidney, with or without a car. Everything is so convenient, and the suite is lovely. We are back there again in September while we oversee more projects to our house, and are thrilled that it is available for the time we need it. Highly recommend it for anyone in our position needing somewhere to stay while renovations are underway, or for just a holiday vacation in beautiful Sidney.

Owner response: So glad that we were able to play a small part in easing your move back to Canada. Our suite has been a 'first home' for several guests who are now our new neighbours. It's also a great little sanity saver, for anyone doing a major renovation on their own home, in the Sidney, North Saanich area. So lovely to not have to live alongside the contractor and trades, amid the dust, etc.
Great Place to Stay
Great Place to Stay
The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The unit was as advertised, very clean and well maintained. Loved the fact that we could walk anywhere in Sidney, our sister and family lives close by so it was easy to visit back and forth. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone. Enjoyed Island Touring, wineries, scenic drives, etc. Thank you Susan and Don, would love to stay again.

Owner response: Though the home sleeps 4, 1 couple to the bedroom and 1 couple on the fold-out (with air bladder for extra comfort) in the living room area, it's a rare two couples that wouldn't find the arrangement fairly close quarters. How nice that the four of you travel so well together! Usually the additional sleeping accommodates short visits from relatives and friends quite comfortably. Great to have your own accommodation while visiting Sidney/Victoria relatives. Some time together and some time apart is always welcome. Nice also to be able to reciprocate & have guests in to your place for a meal now and then. Extra leaf available for the table & enough dishes for entertaining. Enjoy!

The Patio Suite
My husband and I spent three months in the patio suite this past winter and enjoyed it very much. It was nice to be so close to the shopping area and also the good restaurants. My sister in law visited from Scotland and she thought the apartment was lovely..Being able to take the ferry to one of the islands and the bus to Victoria was very convenient . We would have no hesitation going back there again especially to escape the winter in Ottawa.

Owner response: Most of our guests do either drive or fly and rent a vehicle, in which case we do offer 'off street parking'. But, for those who decide to 'go green' without a vehicle, the suite is within a short walk of just about anything you could need ... groceries, beverages, pharmacy, banks, medical attention, restaurants, shops, attractions, lovely seaside walks. And as you mention busing also available. Glad this worked out so well for you this winter & that you were even able to reconnect with relatives from afar. That's why we put the fold-out sofa (with air bladder for more comfort than you'd expect in a fold-out). When we are in town, we are happy to do airport pick-ups and drop-offs. If we happen to be out of town, it's just a short cab trip.
Thank you Susan and Don- we had a wonderful two weeks at the Patio Suite. The location is perfect. Within walking distance of the town centre, the Anacortes ferry, the seafront and minutes away from the airport and BC Ferry terminals. We took public transit from Sidney downtown to Victoria downtown. No parking hassles and bus stops in walking distance of the waterfront. The patio suite is just as described - perfect! We are looking forward to returning.

Owner response: Wow! Thankyou so much for so promptly posting comments in our guestbook. Don & I were both in awe of all the cycling you both did & the number of sights you saw. Wonderful to meet you both and we'll certainly look forward to having you stay again. PS Found 1 item left in the suite, so I've posted that in the mail to you.
We had a very rewarding stay at your Patio Suite. It was perfect. Both kids did manage to separately come over for 2 nights each. They shared our enthusiasm for Sidney and it helped to confirm that we do want to relocate. The location is perfect for exploring the area and quiet as well. Susan was a great host!

Owner response: This suite is the perfect place for a couple to take an extended stay while considering a relocation to the island. Time to scout out the various neighbourhoods, try our climate, get a sense of housing prices & make an informed decision. We love that our home is the 'first' home away from home for newcomers to the island & are happy to help with answering any questions, sharing any referrals & generally helping in anyway we can to welcome you and ease your transition.

We found the listing description and pictures to perfectly represent the appearance and the amenities of the apartment. It was beautifully decorated, perfectly clean and well-maintained, and altogether satisfactory. We especially loved the wonderful bed, the charming garden, and the espresso machine. Susan and Don were most helpful in giving us directions and recommending restaurants, and we would certainly recommend the apartment to friends. We had a perfect stay!

Owner response: I notice the things that appealed to you most were the little luxuries that make the suite such an escape. Especially, since you were out here to participate in a family reunion. Wonderful to reconnect with the whole family, but nice to have a place of your own to retreat to in the evening.
Wonderful Place for Vacationing!
Wonderful Place for Vacationing!
We loved this suite! It was beautifully decorated with both antiques and contemporary funishings, and painted a lovely, soothing light green. No amenities were spared, from luxurious linens to a fully automatic expresso maker. And the patio and garden were just as nice. We would never stay anywhere else on Vancouver Island.

Don't panic when you see our calendar is fully booked. Call to inquire about our other properties. For repeat clients we'll always make every effort to accommodate. You may get a free upgrade:)!

Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Hi! We're Susan & Don Wakal, We own the Patio Suite. Our other business, Picture Panache Framing, occupies the small commercial cottage to the front of the same property. When first setting up the framing studio we chose to live in the Patio Suite ourselves for a year. In many ways we found it just the right size. Everything in it's place means so little cleaning. That leaves more time for exploring Sidney's many used bookstores, galleries, unique boutiques, walking the beach, eating out in great restaurants and just enjoying all that Sidney has to offer. In this photo we've taken our lawn chairs down to the waterfront park to enjoy the view, meet friendly people and listen to music which plays at the Bandstand each Sunday afternoon in the summer. Isn't life great? Can't wait to greet you. Susan & Don
Why the Owner Chose Sidney:
We relocated from Edmonton to Vancouver Island in February of 2005. All of our friends said we were going to hate it here. It was going to be rainy and overcast and we'd be depressed. Well, NOT! So climate is the first reason to love this location. Lush, green and moist even in the winter, your skin feels better, your hair feels better, you feel better. Then come summer you'll be almost intoxicated by the fragrance, colour and glorious sun. It just doesn't get any better than this. Our first year here we lost count after 55 people came to visit. Needless to say, not everyone is free to move here, but everyone deserves a little island time. We hope this vacation rental suite will allow you to treat YOURSELF to some Island time. Come and enjoy! Susan and Don Now why Sidney specifically? You know this is really just the nicest town. It is so friendly and the main street, Beacon Ave. is packed so full of unique shops that even for those of us who live here feel like every day is a holiday. Did you know that in our Star Cinema movie theater a real live person comes down the aisle to announce the coming movies. It's the little things like this that are small, seaside town, fun! Then of course there are the beaches. Nothing soothes the soul like the sound of waves. While here you could walk a different one each day of your stay! Need more reasons yet ... well people come from all over the world to see the Butchart Gardens, Victoria Inner Harbour, Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre. We love to play host and unlock all the insider secrets Sidney has to share. Please come and experience it yourself. You may never leave! That's happened before! In which case, we're also happy to introduce you to all of the people you'll need to meet, in order to get yourself moved here permanently! Whether you are planning a week or a year, we'd love to hear from you soon. Thankyou for choosing to stay in our Patio Suite. Cheers! Owners, Susan and Don Wakal
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We'd love it if you chose to stay at the Patio Suite. We want you to enjoy the home like it's your own, minus the day-to-day stresses. To that end, we've tried to imagine every detail that might contribute to a special stay. Cozy housecoats, funny movies, a bowl of M & M's, fresh flowers, a welcome basket filled with a favorite wine and tasty local treats. When you stay here, you'll love the quiet evenings, wake refreshed, step out in the morning to the smell of ocean air and never run out of fun things to do. Come experience the joy of living in Canada's paradise. Hope you'll plan a trip to stay with us soon. Cheers! Owners, Susan & Don Wakal
