Our "casa piccola" is a cozy, little place, with a spectacular terrace, in a lovely part of Italy.
Sarnano is located the Marches, a beautiful, largely undiscovered region between the Apennines and the sea, filled with rolling hills, winding roads, dramatic vistas, medieval towns, and amazing agri-turismo restaurants.
Sarnano, a medieval hamlet at the foot of the Sibillini Mountains, is in the province of Macerata. It gives the refreshing impression that time truly has stood still here. The town is rich with faithfully restored historic buildings and piazzas, including the Palazzo del Popolo, and the church of Santa Maria Assunta. Relaxed and accessible, Sarnano is the perfect starting point for day trips through the Marches -- to the beach, the mountains, Ascoli Piceno, Urbino, or any of the area's many architectural and cultural treasures. Sasso Tetto, one of the Marches' main ski resorts, is just 12 kilometers away. It's a scenic three-hour drive from Rome or one hour from the Ancona airport.
Our charming "casa piccola" is located within the medieval walls of Sarnano. The authentically restored home is one of the few properties with a large terrace and garden in the heart of Sarnano's historic old town. It has two bedrooms (one with a queen bed, the other a triple bunk bed) and one bathroom and is equipped with modern amenities. However, the exposed wood beam ceilings and stonework remind guests of its impressive age. Comfortably sleeping 4-5, the casa piccola is perfect for a family looking for a relaxing holiday in a wonderfully authentic part of Italy.

Casa Piccola is in a perfect spot for seeing, and doing all that is going on around you while in Sarnano.. We 3 senior ladies enjoyed our stay there. If you are unable to do stairs, then this place would not be for you. The bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs. The shaded patio was a great place for eating our meals outside. The owners were very helpful by answering all our questions, and Linda, the housekeeper was around if we needed anything, All in all Casa Piccola was the perfect place for our Italian adventure.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1995
About the owner: We are a young family currently living in the US. I am former teacher (now full-time mom and pediatric sleep coach) and my husband does international sports marketing. We love traveling, eating, and spending time with our one year old son, three year old daughter, and six year old Great Pyrenees.
Why the Owner Chose Sarnano:
My husband and his father bought the property about 15 years ago, when it was literally in ruins, and gradually renovated it (a favorite pastime of my father-in-law's). They had fallen in love with Sarnano, likely because of the amazing restaurants found nearby and its romantic charm.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We lived in Spain for years and would travel to Sarnano to just relax and eat well. We love driving through the mountains, visiting all the little nearby towns (Urbino, San Ginesio, Amandola, Macerata, and Ascoli Piceno for starters), sampling the food, and taking long walks/jogs through the hills...
