Welcome to Ashgrove Lodge! Our town home is a duplex located in the 'Lodges on the Green' section of Trillium, a beautiful golf, lake, and mountain resort community in the Blue Ridge Mountains on Lake Glenville near Cashiers. At an elevation of almost 4,000 feet, we are situated on one of the highest--and coolest--spots in the North Carolina mountains.

Ashgrove Lodge is a very comfortable and livable home-away-from-home. On the ground floor is an open kitchen/dining/living area with a wood-burning stone fireplace and a large flat screen TV with Direct TV and a DVD player. The master bedroom with a queen bed, a twin daybed and a full bath is also on this level. The master bath has a double vanity, a garden tub, and a separate shower. A screened porch, which is accessible from both the living area and the master bedroom, has a wood-burning outdoor fireplace on one end and a gas grill on the other. The lower level of the lodge features a queen bedroom with a full private bath and a bunk room with two sets of bunks (full lowers and twin uppers)and a full private bath. Between these two rooms, there is a landing or bonus area with a twin daybed with a trundle and a large flat screen TV that is equipped with Direct TV and a DVD player. The bonus area is perfect for children.

The Village Green is also a great space for children. It is a flat, open lawn area where all kinds of games--volleyball, football, croquet, and badminton to name a few--can be played, though you will need to bring your own equipment. A common campfire area is an inviting place for adults and children alike to sit and visit while making s'mores and enjoying the lovely mountain views. And strolling around the green is a pleasurable activity for those of us older folks who find hiking the mountain terrain challenging!

Lake Glenville is one of the centerpieces of the Trillium community. This 1500-acre lake is a watersports paradise. Fed by three waterfalls, the lake is a wonderful venue for skiing and wakeboarding. Canoeing, kayaking and simply cruising supply much enjoyment, especially at dusk when the sun is setting behind the mountains that border the lake. Pontoon boats and canoes are available for rent on site, and there are other marinas on the lake that provide various types of boat rentals as well.

Membership in Trillium Links and Lake Club, which allows use of all Trillium amenities, is included with the rental. In addition to an exceptional clubhouse with breathtaking views, these amenities include a spectacularly scenic golf course, a chip and putt course, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a full service state-of-the-art fitness center, swimming pool, fishing, hiking trails, horseback riding, the aforementioned boating, an attractive lake club, two restaurants, organized activities for both adults and children, and much more. Trillium Links and Lake Club membership also affords golfing and other privileges at Chinquapin, a sister resort development set on 2,000 pristine acres. Rivers, waterfalls, more lakes, and several national parks, including the Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, are nearby. Whitewater rafting and paddling and the fabulous Biltmore Estate are all within an easy drive. Asheville is also home to other attractions such as a zoo and a botanical garden.

A grocery store, farmers' market, and other antique, arts and crafts and retail opportunities are conveniently located in the mountain village of Cashiers just a few minutes from Trillium. The town of Highlands, where art and antique galleries and shops selling local crafts line the main street, is approximately 10 miles away. Along with upscale shopping and restaurants of all kinds, spa services are available there. For those who enjoy music, the Brevard Music Festival which takes place every summer is always a treat. And in the fall, the leafing season provides a colorful backdrop against which to appreciate the tranquil beauty of this extraordinary mountain setting.

                  About the owner: We are the Sharp family from south Louisiana, and we bought Ashgrove Lodge as a second home for our extended family and as a place for others to enjoy when we cannot be there.

                  Why the Owner Chose Cashiers:
                  Our family loves the mountains of North Carolina. Many of us attended summer camp in the area, and some of our children still do. Ashgrove Lodge allows us all to be campers again and take advantage of the many recreational activities available both within the Trillium community and in the surrounding area. Since most of us reside in Louisiana, the cool mountain air makes a refreshing change.

                  The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
                  We particularly like water-related activities so we keep a boat on Lake Glenville. Whitewater paddling is also a favorite, and the Nantahala, Chattooga, and Tuckasegee Rivers are all very close. Our unit is ideal either for adults who want to get away and have a relaxing resort experience or for families or couples who want a more active vacation. Because we are at different ages and stages within our own family, Ashgrove Lodge has been equipped to provide something for everyone.
