Super Comfortable. We quickly felt at home and the spread-out floorplan gave everyone their own space. Mount Dora is a great little area, we used it as a home base for a variety of area activities and attractions. The eco tour of the lakes and the pool at the house were as cool as Disney and Harry Potter World for my elementary school kids. It's not the Ritz, but it's comfortable and has it's own personality (it's hard to describe until you stay there, the place has its own vibe). The house is really kid-friendly and the kitchen very workable for cooking. The owner seemed like a really nice fellow and was very easy to work with. I'd rent again in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children.

This was a spacious home with plenty of room to accommodate our bicycles, poolside party and a dinner for a good size group of folks. The decor was mostly very good and the master Bedroom/bath were exceptional, as well as the dining room ( altho the great room was ordinary. Kitchen was large and well equiped. ) We ate at nearby Jeremiah's and enjoyed a pleasant and inexpensive family meal; there is nearby Publix for take-out food which we used and had a pot-luck dinner. All my friends plan to return this year. Location was very good. There is a great biking trail within a 20 minute drive- Orange Blosssom Trail. Phil was helpful with the booking; his housekeeper made sure I received items I left. Plan to return this year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have been staying at Oak Treee Villa for the last 6 years (my husband, myself and two couples of our friends). We are very comfortable & enjoy the location in Mt. Dora very much. We fish on the Harris Chain of Lakes and the lakes near Sanford, Fl. It is centrally located between these areas. The owner Phil, and his property manager Lisa, are very accommodating. When you need assistance or if something needs attention, they are very quick to resolve any issue. We stay a full month and enjoy it very much. We book our stay for the following year before we leave each year. We have searched and previewed other properties in the area, but Oak Tree Villa is always our primary choice. We are very satisfied with the accommodations and location, not to mention the reasonable price. We love Oak Tree Villa, Phil and Lisa. Can't wait to return in 2012 in January!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We liked this house when we first saw the place. The longer we stayed there, the more things we found to like. The house itself is terrific. We were comfortable there, and the layout of the house was sensible. There was plenty of room when we had visitors, and all of us were comfortable in our bedrooms. We enjoyed the British tea that was stocked in the cabinets. There were dozens of British videos for viewing. Bathrobes were there for us to use. All in all, it was very well turned out. We were there in late December, and there were plenty of oranges, tangerines and grapefruits on the trees - there for the taking. It was a thrill to us northerners to be able to pick fresh citrus from the tree. In addition to the house, Mt. Dora is a very interesting town to visit. There are enough restaurants to provide variety (including one run by a family from Binghamton - our home). We love going to the enormous flea market on weekends. There were plenty of destinations for day trips that were a short drive away. When we decided to bring our dog with us, we had some trepidation about how it work out. As it turned out, he had as good a time as any of us. The fenced in back-yard was perfect to let him roam around. Having him with us really made the vacation more enjoyable. All in all, we had a terrific vacation, and we really enjoyed the house. We look forward to going back there.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children.

Phil was very helpful and gave us lots of useful information about Mount Dora. The villa was a real home from home and had everything from games, CD's, dvd's to a fantastic children's room with lots of activities to entertain the kids. The pool was great too, enclosed within the back yard for lots of privacy. I would have liked some pool heat as it was early in the year and a little chilly....but the kids didn't seem to mind. Mount Dora is a really pretty place to visit with lots of beautiful shops, restaurants and cafes. There are many lakes nearby and places to hire boats. The scenery around this area is breathtaking. We were lucky to see the air show at nearby Tavares whist we we there. Mount Dora is famous for having festivals and entertainment throughout the year. We visited the parks in Disney while we there which only took us around 45 mins by car. We liked the whole package, the villa and the location and we would definitely recommend staying there....I'm sure we will be back again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

My wife and I visited Florida to attend a wonderful concert in Palm Coast given by The Four Freshmen (if you are not familiar with these guys, check them out on YouTube and their website). We 'found' Mount Dora on a previous trip and decided to take a villa there. We were not disappointed with the accommodation or its location and the town was well worth a return visit.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Mt.Dora is a charming town, very walkable, with great playgrounds...and is near other likewise interesting towns and attractions like Eustis, Sanford, Ocala National Forest, and the Blue and Wekiva Springs It was the perfect counterweight to the fracas of Disney and Orlando, and a remarkably easy 40 - minute drive to the back door of The Magic Kingdom.Oak Tree's floor plan allowed us a measure of privacy from time to time, and the pool heated up quickly when the Febuary sun came out. The Publix Market and Rt.241 are just down the street a ways, but you'd never know it, since the house is backed by a golf course, and is in a quiet neighborhood...we even encoutered, in a most rare sighting, a native-born Floridian!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with young children.

Highly recommended for a comfortable, relaxing holiday close to the centre of one of the most delightful towns in Florida. Mount Dora has good restaurants to suit all tastes, interesting independent shops and sits alongside the beautiful Lake Dora. The house is surprisingly large with a really private back garden with a great pool. It has every facility and is only a few minutes drive from supermarkets as well as being ideally placed as a base for visiting other parts of central FloridaRecommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

My family and I are just back from our week at Oak Tree Villa. The property is wonderful. We enjoyed the back yard, picking grapefruit and oranges from the trees, the large master bedroom, and everything about this house. It was comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed the amenities that were left by the hosts (bathrobes, British Tea, etc.). It was terrific!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Phil Barnard lives in a 500 year old cottage in a small village just 19 miles north of London in the English Countryside. Oak Tree Villa is enjoyed and cherished by his whole family as a home from home when it happens to be available.
Why the Owner Chose Mount Dora:
I had visited Florida many times and finally convinced my parents Bill and Gwen to come and explore Florida for a two week holiday along with me and my partner Tracey and our children Lauren and Billy. My parents had never been to the USA before and we left England and flew over in June 2004. We started on the East coast and drove down into Key-West, then to the Everglades and then up the Gulf Coast. Although not huge lovers of the Orlando area, no trip would be complete without a visit to a theme park. Looking at the maps we decided our last days should be spent within an easy distance of the parks and Sanford airport and so settled on Mount Dora, which we’d never heard of before. Both my parents have an interest in Antiques and were absolutely delighted with the town. My Mum thought it the nicest place of the whole trip and wished that we had longer to stay there. Whilst browsing the realtors down-town she commented on how nice it would be if she could afford to buy a vacation home there, for the whole family – her three children and 10 grand-children to enjoy at their leisure. Then on December the 16th 2004 she lost her 8 year battle with cancer. We sold her house and her estate was left to me and my two sisters. We decided to spend our inheritance on that dream home in Mount Dora that she had wanted for her family to enjoy.
