Don't travel all the way to Hawaii and book a condo without an ocean view!
Kumulani G-1, our luxury 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom condominium home in the world-famous Mauna Kea Resort, boasts the prime 'front row' Pacific Ocean view, and also overlooks the 4th fairway of the Hapuna Golf Course.
Book directly through us to receive the lowest ocean-view rate in the Mauna Kea Resort. Your entire family can stay in this private $1 million vacation residence for less than you'd spend on a single hotel room!
Known as 'Hale Melehuna' (or 'House of the Secret Hawaiian Song'), Kumulani G-1 features panoramic ocean views across the Hapuna Golf Course, from most rooms. The unit is centrally air-conditioned, but -- for fresh air lovers -- it's also cooled by island breezes and trade winds nearly every day, a rarity on the Kohala Coast. This special home features an ocean-view great room with comfy leather sofas and dining table that seats up to 10, and an upscale kitchen with ocean views that is well-equipped for preparing gourmet meals. Grind fresh organic Kona Coffee beans and brew in the french press for an unsurpassed, smooth hot beverage; and steam rice to perfection in the rice cooker.
Sleeping accommodations in Kumulani G-1 include an ocean-view master suite with memory foam topped cal king bed and elegant en suite bath offering twin vanity, shower, soaking tub, separate toilet, and separate walk-in closet; a second bedroom with two twin beds that can be put together as a king bed; and an enclosable small den that becomes a third bedroom with a Murphy bed wall unit containing a queen bed with real mattress. A second marble bathroom, adjacent to the second bedroom, ensures privacy for everyone.
Comfortable, uncluttered furnishings, local art, 10-foot ceilings, sliding-glass doors framing the blue sea, and ceiling fans in all rooms complement Kumulani G-1's Hawaiian motif.
You won't want to leave the covered ocean-view lanai, the perfect place to dine, or to relax, and enjoy tropical trade winds and gorgeous sunsets.
Situated on 11 sprawling acres, the serene and private Kumulani community boasts the lowest building density in the Uplands at Mauna Kea. Steps from G-1 is the complex's private recreation center, with pool, Jacuzzi spa, barbecue grill, tables and chairs, chaise lounges, outdoor shower and bathrooms. It's also a 2-minute drive to either of two of the U.S.'s top-rated beaches, Mauna Kea and Hapuna, which are part of the Mauna Kea resort, but also open to the public.
Guests at Kumulani G-1 can enjoy access to the world-renowned Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Prince Resorts*, including 36 holes of championship golf, first-class seaside tennis and workout facilities, two pristine white sand beaches, and upscale restaurants and shops. Golfers can experience the reopened Mauna Kea Golf Course, which has been replanted with highly efficient ultra-dwarf Tifeagle Bermuda grass on the greens and Tifway 419 hybrid Bermuda grass on the tees, fairways and roughs.

* Kumulani G1's owners participate in the Amenity Program at Mauna Kea Resort. Thus, guests wishing to receive charging privileges at the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince Hotels, as well as free tennis, access to both hotels' fitness centers, discounted golf, and reserved chairs and towels at both hotels' pools and beaches may pay $100/family + $50/adult + $30/teens for the length of their stay. These surcharges are in addition to the annual fee paid by the owner, and are available only when owners of Mauna Kea Resort vacation rental properties pay the annual amenity fees.
Of course, guests may visit both beaches without paying but won’t receive chairs and towels, or use hotel pools or fitness centers. See Rates below for more details.

Our family of 6 enjoyed this lovely condo for 9 days over spring break and we highly recommend it. It is larger than the photos depict, very clean and comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need, We never needed the a/c, the north-facing corner location ensures it receives less direct sun than other units in the afternoon, and the trades blow gently to keep it comfortable. The sunset and golf course views are lovely from the lanai, and can be seen easily from inside as well, as the large windows afford nice views and light. We enjoyed use of both the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince Hotel pools and beaches. At the MK, you park in the valet parking area and can access the beach through the hotel. There is no shame in trudging through the lobby with your beach gear, the staff is accustomed to serving guests of the residences and you are never made to felt like second-class citizens. The breakfast buffet at the Prince is abundant - with a gorgeous view overlooking the beach - and is a relative bargain. The beaches at HP and MK are second to none. Our kids we're in the water non-stop and had a blast. The booking agent, Nelson, of Island and Beach Rentals was terrific to work with as well. Wonderful vacation and we can't wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What's not to like? The location on the Mauna Kea resort property is the nicest spot on the Island. The condo is very very nice, clean and comfortable with fabulous views of the ocean and the golf course. The condo area was quiet and peaceful. (Was I breaking the rules sneaking out on the 4th hole of Hapuna Golf Course(100 feet away) for a little chipping and putting at sunset?). It was the perfect way for my family to spend a week enjoying the Big Island.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed here for three perfectly self indulgent weeks enjoying all of the amenities of the Mauna Kea Resort. The accommodations were incredible -- comfortable, tranquil and furnished with everything we needed. Nearly every room offered spectacular views of the golf course and ocean beyond! This vacation exceeded our expectations and we look forward to returning. I recommend this property to families, as well as one or two couples.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed in this Kumulani condo for a week in May 2010. The condo is completely stocked, has distant ocean views and is on one of the golf fairways. What we would have done differently: Purchase the amenity package before you arrive. The pool adjacent to the condo is on 3 feet deep, and very tiny. Also, you WILL want to use the lounge chairs at Mauna Kea Hotel-do not bother with Hapuna Beach Prince hotel, lounge chairs are rusty and disgusting. You cannot use any of the hotels beaches, towels or anything unless you pay for the $40/pp per day fee. But it will be worth it! We tried to contact the amenity desk after we arrived and never even got a call back, so we were unable to go to Mauna Kea resort without heavy security eyes staring at all times. We got too close one day and were approached by Mauna Kea Security and asked what our room number was, then we were asked to move away from resort area!!! Ouch, was that embarrassing!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This was a wonderful place to stay. I stayed here and had such a wonderful experience that I am sure to return! The condo is clean, open, and airy with large windows and good air-circulation. The condo complex has its own private Jacuzzi as well as beautiful lanais with outstanding views. Furthermore, the condo is located just minutes from the 2 best beaches in the world: Mauna Kea and Hapuna. I highly recommend this condo to those who're looking for a peaceful break!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

I've stayed in 3 units in this complex, but this was the best. Same great ocean view (facing west for nice sunsets most days) but this space stays cooler late in the day because it is on the north side of its building, and sits up higher above the golf course - nice sea breezes in the afternoon. It's one minute from the 2 beautiful beaches, and the two resorts and their facilities. Very quiet - no traffic noise ever. If you want Hawaii and relaxing, this is how it's supposed to be.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 7/7

The Seafood Bar, Sabroso Grill, a small deli and shops View on map
Sabroso Grill serves Latin American specialties in a historic Kawaihae building. The tumble-down, overgrown stone structure to the left of the front lanai is the former jail for the harbor. The Seafood Bar is a local favorite, and one of the few places that serves dinner until 11 pm or later.

About the owner: We live on the Big Island full time, and moved from this condo to our nearby home about five years ago. We want to continue to be part of the Mauna Kea community, so we've kept our condo. We hope that you love the Mauna Kea resort as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Mauna Kea:
We chose the Mauna Kea Resort for the same reason Laurence Rockefeller did back in the 1960s when he had first choice of locations on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island: it is the finest property with the best beaches. We quibble with the way it's managed, but we wouldn't be anywhere else.
We chose our condo because it's perched a bit higher along a ridge of seven other condo buildings that front the fourth fairway, and gets better breezes all day long -- in addition to its spectacular views.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Nothing beats waking up with the fresh breezes kissing your skin, deeply inhaling the fragrant air, living in the Hawaiian sunshine, and spending time on Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Beach!
