Very disappointing! There were mouse traps in all the rooms of the house. We had a bird come into the house thru a wood stove vent that did his business in many places in the house and on some of our personal items--owners were more concerned with the welfare of the bird than with our safety or comfort. The owners required us to take the garbage with us when we left yet did not provide a dumpster or garbage service. There was a tornado warning in the area during our stay, yet there was no flashlight in the home or any instructions/directions on where to seek shelter in the event of a storm or emergency. For a five day stay, we were provided one wash cloth and one towel per person yet were not allowed to use the washer/dryer. Property is listed as having RV parking, would be difficult to find any area of the yard that would be level enough for an RV. Much clutter throughout the house, many utensils in the kitchen were unusable, many window screens missing... This property needs lots of general upkeep and TLC. Would not recommend this property or wish to stay here again.Owner response: We were so saddened that one of our guests was disappointed with their stay. We understand their frustration that we did not provide instructions to go into the cellar during an emergency and we will address that in the future. In addition, our beautiful family cabin was never intended to compete or compare with the amenities of a 5-star hotel with laundry service. It is a country cabin. And, yes, it is true that our family does have a passion for wildlife.

We just got back from several days at this beautiful cabin! Everything about our stay there was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed spending time on the deck listening to the beauty of the QUIET, sitting in the hot tub, playing games (Shut-the-Box was a family favorite) with our kids in the evening. Celia has been very accommodating. The kids asked when we were pulling out to come home if we could go back every spring break!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was PERFECT . All information supplied was complete and is exactly what we found. The owners were very helpful and answered any questions that we had in a timely manner. We loved the cabin and privacy of the location. Sitting on the deck watching the river roll along was soooo relaxing. It was just wonderful to be away from the hustle and bustle of cities and interstates. Also, it was convenient for our needs in visiting St. Louis one day and the drive to Columbia for the GA/MO football game was not bad at all-- especially the drive home late that night because we were the victors.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway.

What a great location and oh so quiet; total bliss to unwind. The deck turned out to be lovely of an evening to relax after a day in the city. The home, as you'd expect given its location, is surrounded by wildlife, deers, more deers, birds of prey, an otter like creature, herons and fish and come close to the house. A lovely farmer [also named Jeff] introduced himself and kept an eye on things in our absence, which was rather nice given the remote location. The house itself is very well appointed and comfortable, and dealing with the owners was a delight. There was an incredible electric storm over the city that was wonderful to watch from our deck and provided more than a few hours of entertainment. This home turned out to be a great base to explore the city [only 30 minutes away] and to fully relax afterwards. We will return in the future of that I am sure.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Our week along the Mississippi River was wonderful. The location was so convenient to everything. Downtown St. Louis was very easy to get to, as was St. Charles and even our trip to Defiance. The cabin is very well appointed and comfortable.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+.

5 seniors met and stayed at this home. Wonderful views of the river from a huge deck. Temps where over 100 degrees so we couldn't utilize the sun room. Nicely decorated and well stocked with kitchen appliances and dishes. If you go into St. Louis eat at 1111 Mississipi restaurant. The food is outstanding and lovely decor. We all want to come back to the cabin in the fall or early spring since there are fireplaces. Due to the heat, we spent most of our time at the cabin playing games and eating. Gas grill was utilized and we were able to sit under the covered part of the deck for dinner. Very clean and comfy. Be great for family with kids.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Our stay here was even better than expected. The house is just as beautiful as the pictures portrayed. It was fantastic to have meals on the deck with views of the river in all directions. We stayed here with three boys and they LOVED getting home after each day's adventure knowing they had fishing to look forward to. The house very comfortably slept 8 people so we were able to really enjoy the company of family who met us there. This home has a great combination of allowing you to feel like you are away from everything and truly on vacation, yet close to stores, restaurants (10 minutes), and the attractions of St. Louis (40 minutes to the Arch, etc...). We had a wonderful time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The location was a very nice place to get away from it all. Beautiful cabin located on the river. Listing was very accurate and the owners were very helpful and responsive to any and all inquiries. St. Peters and the Mid Rivers mall area are very close, but that is not the reason you want to stay at this location. Quiet time and relaxation are the big reasons to come here, and it is very enjoyable for that reason. Would definitely stay again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful Girl's getaway weekend! There were five of us and plenty of room. We enjoyed the sunroom, deck and hot tub. Traveling was easy to and from the airport as we were from all over the country. We visited historic St. Charles; shopping and food was great! We loved having lunch at Magpie's. We also spent time at the arch, did a riverboat cruise and visited the casino. An easy drive from the cabin. Enjoyed seeing the critters outdoors as well as the stuffed ones inside! Jeff and Celia's cabin made this a memorable trip for us! We loved it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: We bought this wonderful log home as our family get-away, close to home, about 10 years ago. We have so many wonderful family memories with our kids growing up, adventures out on the river (swimming, boating, waterskiing), entertaining friends... Our kids are now grown and we were not using our lovely cabin as much, so we decided to share it with other people so that they can create and enjoy fun memories of vacations as well. If you want a peaceful setting, winter or summer, this is it! Nature surrounds the cabin and is fun to watch from the deck. Bald Eagles and Golden eagles abound Dec-Feb! Deer visit year-round. Fishing is fun in the summer too....or just relax and barbeque on the deck with the fabulous view.
Why the Owner Chose St. Louis:
We love the cabin because while it is secluded, peaceful, and off the beaten path, it is only 15 minutes to get to grocery stores/shopping/entertainment.
