A lovingly built 200 sq. ft. Cottage with a deck overlooking a peaceful garden.
A gravel driveway leads you to a hidden Urban Oasis in the middle of a pleasant city block set back from the street.
Our SMALL ABODE is ideal for a SINGLE visitor or a COZY COUPLE. I make no false claims and many a cozy couple love it regardless. As one guest recently described, 'very European'
Keep in mind, The Cottage is a BED WITH A BATHROOM. The DECK offers you a place to sit and enjoy the garden.
WE DO NOT OFFER A KITCHEN as our Cottage is intended for short stays but we do offer A HOT WATER KETTLE, SMALL FRIDGE and T.V.
We also provide WIRELESS INTERNET and PRIVATE PARKING in our driveway.
SMALL and COZY is what we offer and if you simply
want a good night's sleep overlooking a pleasant garden, this is the place.
NO SMOKING, CHILDREN or PETS.
We are GAY, RACE and AGE FRIENDLY and expect that you are too!
I believe there is an unspoken language among respectful travelers that you treat someone's home as if it was your own...
There are vibrant neighborhoods surrounding us offering a great variety of food and entertainment: The INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT, DOWNTOWN, GEORGETOWN, COLUMBIA CITY and CAPITAL HILL are great representations of Seattle and easy to access from BEACON HILL.
Refer to the VIDEO offered on this page (scroll down)...this will give you a clear picture of the Cottage.
We sit in a prime location with transit and freeways in close reach. You can access I-90/I-5 easily from the Cottage.
The #36 bus is a walk across the street and will take you downtown in 20 min. If you are familiar with South Seattle, we are a few blocks south of the V.A. Hospital.
If you are on FOOT and coming from the AIRPORT, jump on the LIGHT RAIL and get off at the BEACON HILL stop. From there, the Cottage is a short bus ride.
RENTING A CAR: 15-20 minute drive (depending on traffic) from the airport to the Cottage.
Driving Downtown from the Cottage is no more than 10 minutes but it depends on where you plan to go and parking. Like any big city, you have to consider high volume traffic and parking.
ARRIVING ON AMTRAK: A simple walk up to JACKSON ST. and hopping on the #36 going south. It will drop you off within steps of the cottage.

Taking a break from work and intent on exploring Seattle from a central location, I was thrilled to find this perfectly described cottage on VRBO. Communication was smooth, and property was as described. Parking off-street was provided (Yay!) and the hosts have put together some informative neighborhood guides that are a great resource during your stay. I genuinely felt lucky to be their guest.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I stayed here mid-September to kick off our Seattle to San Francisco road trip. The cottage is so sweet and well-cared for. It's cozy and homey and I was excited to come home to it at night. Mary is so hospitable, warm and friendly. It really adds to the trip when you get to know people along the way, exchange stories. She was so great and helpful, very accommodating. It was a great start to a wonderful, memorable trip; we will definitely stay again when we travel to Seattle in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

After exploring urban Seattle each day, I would come home (yes, it felt like home) to a tranquil garden setting, a clean and comfy studio and share good wine and great conversation with my hosts. It felt more like I was visiting good friends! Mary has lots of positive energy and genuinely cares about her guest’s well-being. She checked with me each day to make sure I had everything I needed. The studio is filled with books and binders (she put together) with all the information you need to have a great vacation in Seattle. The studio looks and feels brand new and it’s nicely decorated. The bed is big and comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet so you get a good nights’ sleep. There's a flat screen TV, a refrigerator stocked with soda and water, even a bottle of wine on the counter when you arrive! Great public transportation, lots of nearby restaurants. For the budget traveler, it doesn’t get any better. I would definitely recommend this property -and there’s a bonus - getting to spend time with two great people who love their city.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My boyfriend and I stayed the weekend in Seattle and felt fortunate to stumble upon this amazing cottage to stay in! We had grand plans for the weekend but mostly decided to stay in, enjoy the awesome deck and beautiful little cottage! Everything was just great. The bed was comfortable, the decor was tactful and warm, and the entire space felt really comfortable. Thanks again for offering such a great rental! I'm sure we will be staying again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Driving on vaca is NOT relaxing for us, especially in a strange city, state. Easy access on short light rail from airport. Bus right outside rental to downtown. Downtown buses all FREE! Ferries to BC, Canada. Stayed here 3 nights, lovely, and owner very friendly and helpful. Walked to Georgetown neighborhood behind house and down, then took bus to downtown. International foods and restaurants here are amazing! Very nice cottage. And wonderful hosts! Thank you.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I was very impressed that you took your trip without renting a car and used our light rail, bus and ferry system to see this great city! This is what it's all about and I hope to get more travelers who have this in mind because it's such a grand idea and we are so conveniently located to downtown and other great neighborhoods! Again, thanks Marilyn, you are a true traveler! not a tourist!

My husband and I spent an evening here between a trip to the islands off Vancouver BC and home. WOW!!! The kind of experience Mary provides is what makes traveling a wonderful adventure. The room is so thoughtfully appointed - with art and soulful decor - that we felt immediately at home. The bed was very comfortable and the peaked ceiling adds a sense of space (in a small space). The hand-laid glass tiles and bronze sink are examples of the exemplary thought to color and design. The deck is SO finely finished and beautiful; I did yoga there in the evening and it's a great place to sit and view the neighborhood from the rise of the hill on which it sits. Tastes vary, but for me this was perfect, and I so want to return, to stay in the room and visit the neighborhood, Seattle, and Mary (who was a munificent source of information and warmth)!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Linda! It was wonderful meeting you both! It means a great deal to me when I get such lovely comments as yours...it's only a reflection of what I love to do and hosting visitors is a lot of fun!

This place is wonderful. Immaculate, comfortable, welcoming, in a quiet neighborhood, an easy walk to many things, easy and convenient (and FREE) off-street parking, huge value for your dollar, and the kindest and most caring hosts. I am so happy I chose this cottage for my three-night stay in Seattle - I was visiting family but wanted this quiet and private place of my own. Keep in mind it is as small as it looks, but while it resembles a European hotel room in size it offers so much more in the way of convenience, location, and unparalleled surroundings with the deck and the garden surrounding it. There is a ton of carefully-gathered printed information in the cottage with everything you could possibly need to know about where to go and how to get there - SO helpful and appreciated - and the free wireless internet never failed me. The bed is very comfortable, the lighting is pleasant and warm, and there are also a lot of windows for such a small place so it feels very open and airy while still private and snug. The ceiling in the main room is high, too, so that adds to its spacious feeling. I immediately felt at home - what more could you want? If you are lucky enough to secure this place for your stay in Seattle, you will be so happy you chose it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Sue! You are an eloquent writer and it was great meeting you... Thanks you for being such great advertising for me, as I think people like to read these and draw a decision.

We were visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday and this little cottage was the perfect place to stay for those of us who don't like a hotel atmosphere. A few minutes from downtown, with great views of the city. The hostesses were especially accommodating and super sweet and helpful! We'll definitely be staying here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We recently traveled to Seattle for what turned out to be a stormy (the weather, that is) weekend getaway in January. While we weren't able to enjoy the deck for two, we LOVED the cottage; very warm, cozy, clean and, most of all, quiet. And so conveniently located to the mass transit lines to downtown and the light rail to the airport! We would recommend this for any time of the year and can't wait to return in the summer so we can hang out on the deck.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We stayed in the cottage for a lovely weekend in Seattle and couldn't be happier with our experience. It is the perfect little place to stay for a comfy and relaxing weekend. It's just outside downtown, but still close to everything. Plus the hostesses were so wonderful and know just about EVERYTHING going on in Seattle. So, if you're not sure where to start your Seattle adventure, just ask! We will be back very soon!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info
About the owner: I love gardening and the cottage is surrounded by my efforts of creating a nest of greenery that takes you away from the bustling city. We can't take away traffic or airplanes but they can be put at bay while you nestle in for a pleasant urban experience.
Why the Owner Chose Beacon Hill:
Seattle is a great City and I'm happy to show it off from the perspective of a proud home owner and a seasoned traveler. Seeing the interior of a place through the eyes of like minded travelers makes a more relaxing and memorable trip.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Jefferson Park has expanded into a NEW PARK!
Our neighborhood was deprived of a scenic high point overlooking the Puget Sound, Olympic Mountain Range and Seattle's skyline for many years. After a long renovation the land is ours to enjoy for walks and great views.
The park holds four tennis courts, a basketball court and a child play area. It's an easy 15-20 minute walk from the Cottage and don't miss the view of the Puget Sound and Seattle's skyline during sunset!
