Payment must be made by personal check, cashier's check, or money order. Checks must be payable in U.S. funds; otherwise any bank fees to convert to U.S. funds will be the guest's responsibility. No post-dated checks will be accepted. Returned checks will be charged according to Florida law up to $300 or 5% of the amount of the check, whichever is greater.
Monthly and multi-month rentals require a 25% rental payment 90 days prior to occupancy. The balance of the rent is due 15 days prior to occupancy. Shorter rental periods will follow the same payment schedule unless the 90 day and 15 day prior to occupancy time limits have already passed in which case payment is due immediately. Boat and kayak rental available nearby as well as bicycle rental. We have compiled a 'Guest Information' manual with a list of local attractions, favorite restaurants, maps, and other helpful information including a comprehensive restaurant list. Dolphins and Manatees may often be seen from the lanai or dock. Fishing is great as is bird watching.

About the owner: My wife and I first came to Anna Maria Island in 1975 and fell in love with the beautiful beaches and laid-back living style. We have come back almost every year since and finally purchased Bay Haven in 1985 with the intent to retire there. We retired in 2007 after teaching overseas for 37 years but decided to live in nearby Palma Sola in order to be closer to aging relatives. We cherish the time we spend on the island and the peace and tranquility of Bay Haven.
Why the Owner Chose Anna Maria: Anna Maria Island is old Florida at its best. There are no high-rise condos along the beaches or any place else on the island and you can go to dinner in shorts and flip flops if you want, although fine dining is available. We debated whether we wanted to be on the beach or on Bimini Bay and chose the Bay because it would afford us complete privacy, would allow us to have a boat at our doorstep, and if we wanted to go to the beach, it was nearby. Since Bay Haven is at the end of a cul-de-sac and off a dead end street, South Bay Blvd., there is no street traffic and only an occasional passing fisherman off the dock.
The Unique Benefits at this House: We especially enjoy watching the dolphins and manatees, as they glide just feet from the dock (and sometimes under it). We also enjoy watching the pelicans and laughing gulls dive for fish and the giant blue herons strut across the dock, looking for handouts of fish or hot dogs. Occasionally, a flock of noisy green parrots will wing by, as well as many other varieties of birds. Sometimes we kayak in the calm bay waters and up and down the many canals or bike around the island. Our favorite eating place is the Rod and Reel Pier, but there are numerous quaint little restaurants nearby. Our dream was to buy a boat and in January 2010 we purchased a used pontoon boat. Since then we have spent many hours exploring the waters around the island including the Gulf of Mexico,Tampa Bay, Palma Sola Bay, Anna Maria Sound and the Manatee River. Highlights include excursions to Egmont Key to swim and explore the island, three circumnavigations of Anna Maria Island, and a lazy trip up the Manatee River.
