This was an ideal spot for an adult family holiday. Two of us stayed for the entire month and kids and partners came and went. The house is ideal for a relaxing and active warm holiday. With the diving at Captain Don's only two doors away and a beach for swimming even closer. We rented bikes, went windsurfing and took time to read and visit. The house was exactly as pictured, clean, fully furnished and good cooking facilities (including the BBQ). Luca (the property manager) checked in with us regularly and was availble extra in the first few days as we settled in.The house is on a small quiet side street without a lot of traffic, feels very safe and private despite close neighbours. If taking small children they would need to be on a tight rein as the shore edge is quite steep and dangerous for a toddler... probably OK for 5-6 year olds.Having a car was useful for groceries etc but if eating out lots might get away without one. Would definitely recomend the place and have already booked for next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My family of four (2 teenage sons) spent a week at Casa de Sal. The house was even nicer than indicated in the pictures. Location was great. Short dive to town for groceries and restaurants. Far enough out of town to avoid traffic. Fantastic snorkeling and birding right at the house. Kitchen is extremely well equipped. I was able to make dinner at home several nights. House was spotless and the caretaker, Luca, was very helpful. Luca was waiting for us at the airport when we were two hours late and was available to talk to us Chrstmas day to organize our return. There is an excelllant new grocery store in town and a great gym almost across the street. Snorkeling is the best we have ever experienced anywhere in the Carribean. My only complaint about the house (otherwise I would rate it excellent) is the mattresses were uncomfortable and there was no washing machine. The owner indicated she was looking into replacing the mattresses, and as a result, I hope to go back this summer. Very special place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed for 3 weeks in Casa de Sal. We just got back yesterday (sunday the 19th of august). We had a wonderfull stay in Casa de Sal. The house is situated near a resort, which is nice to enjoy the happy hours as wel as their (diving) facilities. The hidden beach near Casa de Sal is great and is a great way to explore the riffs which lay in front of the house. The house itselve is fantastic. The landlord Luca is very precise (in a good way) about your experience, so if anything is not in order he will fix this immediately. For exemple, we had a broken airconditioner and this was fixed within a day. In the tropics I have experienced this differently.... Luca is a nice and easy going landlord, who dropped by several times, just to check if everything is ok. Good service so! We enjoyed fantastic sunsets and rises (because of the difference in time, the first week we were very early) and used the BBQ (professional stuff!!) several times. Having breakfast, lunches and homecooked diners (or BBQ's) is fantastic and you just can't get enough of the view from the house. So we really enjoyed our stay and would tell anybody to go there without any hesitation. Luca and Laura many thanks for your hospitality! Our family of 5 and sister's family of 3 spent the week of Thanksgiving at Casa De Sal. We had just certified two of our three children and two adults in the party. We wanted to dive alot and we wanted the experience to be easy and fun. Staying at Casa De Sal was perfect for our needs. Although we dove elsewhere on the island (at last count some of us made 18 dives that week), several were made right in front of Casa De Sal. Talk about easy. Put your gear on and hike 25 yards to the beach entry, swim out maybe 20 feet and drop. The underwater sea life was simply amazing (from turtles to lobster, hamlets, tarpon, etc.). Two night dives--rewarded with a spectacular octopus which we followed for 10 minutes. There were 8 of us and we lived comfortably in the house. We did a combo of meals in and out. We had two trucks for our gear (Buddy Dive right next door to rent gear and pick up tanks every day). The trip was simply fabulous. We also bonefished and did some horseback riding (trip a little long for us) and took a day to tour the island. Walking in the park was fun. We were in Bonaire in November. It gets hot by mid-day. Casa De Sal was great for our needs. We even had a resident iguana who visited daily. He likes grapes. The only downside were the night bugs so just take some bug spray. This was one of our best trips ever.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Nine of us shared Casa De Sal - plenty of personal space. Common living room, kitchen, & lanai were perfect for gatherings where we all could catch up on each other's activities. The 3 married couples had the 3 upstairs ensuite (with bathrooms) bedrooms, while the 3 single women shared the large bedroom (also ensuite with its own bathroom) off the dining room. There was a 5th bathroom off the living room so no one had to go into anyone's bedroom. The photos are deceiving: yes, you are close to the water, but it's a 50-foot drop! However, just a short walk in either direction gets you to snorkeling or diving (both FABULOUS). Luca and Laura are the wonderful & attentive property managers. They picked us up at the airport, gave us suggestions for grocery shopping & other places. We also were given a cell phone to use (for free). We lost power at 4:30 a.m. one morning, and we called Luca at 7:00, and he was there at 7:30 with the Bonaire utility company. All was fixed. Then the LR A/C leaked later that day: Luca was there right away to fix the problem. We lost power at 10:00 the same night, and Luca was there with the Bonaire power company, & everything got repaired! Luckily, that one day was it on power drops/losses, but Luca was always there to handle the situations (propane tank for stove). The villa is clean, has plenty of room, there are TVs in the LR & each bedroom (if you have time for that!), & great areas to relax both in and outside. We used the outside grill once with no problems. Having the outside shower for cleaning up after scuba diving or snorkeling was handy. Note: Kitchen has just about all you need but no measuring cups (can't remember about a wine bottle opener). Buy bug spray -- you'll need it outside at the lanai (or at least we did the first week of June we were there). Ate out 3 times: Cappriccio's (more expensive, but one of the best meals we've had ANYWHERE), Rumba (family owned, great food), & the restaurant at Captain Don's (conveniently next door, good food). Recommended: half-day Bonaire tour (Voyager Events); 2-hour kayak trip in the mangroves (The Mangrove Center). Pick-up/drop off at Casa De Sal was available with both businesses. Note: you are about 2.5 miles from downtown. Walkable (we did it once) but uncomfortably hot & humid, so not recommended.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We couldn't be happier with our rental experience, and time enjoyed in Bonaire. This location is super close to all the amenities, great dives, and we'll be coming back again. The owers are easy to work with and they provide everything you'd need to enjoy a home away from home. Hotels are tough to live out of, so for our month long holiday we rented a house. Home cooked family dinners preceded and followed by diving couldn't be easier when you have a reef directly in front of you house. An amazing reef. Our location and accomodations were comfortable, enjoyable, and ultimately made for a wonderful trip. Thanks again! See you next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

Casa de Sal is a wonderful location to vacation! We stayed in the reef from late February to early March 2011 and it was an absolutely perfect location for a couple - romantic, all the needed amenities and close to a couple of dive shops. The kitchen has all we needed to make three meals a day and the bbq was an added bonus. The outdoor seating and lounge area is perfect for morning coffee, happy hour in the evening or just a reprieve from the sun - it can get very hot there in the sun. The unit has a big storage room for all your diving equipment and luggage to keep it out of the way plus a drying rack and rinse shower in the yard so you don’t have to be dragging wet gear through the unit to rinse it off in the shower. There is an entrance to the water about 50 meters to the right of Casa de Sal - a great location for snorkeling and diving although late afternoon diving makes for a treacherous return with the waves being quite strong. Saw my first octopus at this site! You can walk in 2-5 mins to either Captain Don’s or Buddy Dive – we dove with Buddy Dive and they were really good. This was our first opportunity to dive by ourselves – no dive master or guide. Previously most of our dives had been boat dives. While at first it was a bit nerve wracking, we quickly got used to it and the dive masters at Buddy Dive gave us some great recommendations about where to go and what to see. If you are at Casa de Sal for more than a week they had a cleaner come in and clean and change the linens/towels etc. but if we needed clean towels during the week Luca, the resident manager, was always just a call away and very attentive and helpful. Luca leaves a cell phone and charger at the unit for ease of access to him at all times – although we didn’t really need it, there was some comfort in it being there. Don’t forget some water shoes for swimming – it is very rocky and the reef, in some spots is very close to the shore so even if you’re going for a swim it could be painful in bare feet. The yard at Casa de Sal is also all rock/coral (it’s an arid, rock island so to be expected) so they are handy for putting out the garbage/recycling and moving around the yard. With three more rooms upstairs Casa de Sal will be a perfect location for a larger group – can’t wait to come back with a bigger dive group!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My wife and me consider (after over ten years of experience on Bonaire) the location of this very nice house as excellent. Reading under a tree, the ever changing scenery of the beautiful sea, snorkeling or diving, as well as enjoying the sunset at happy hour time, all directly from the back-garden is perfect. You have all the privacy but still some modest and agreeable " traffic" from the dive activities of Dons Habitat (next door). The Reef in Casa de Sal is a very pleasant place to stay for two people. Also the support from the easy reachable property manager is alert and friendly. As mentioned in the heading we want to be modest to be able to rent the Reef again next year. The only remark we have made was that we were missing (beside the very nice looking sun beds) one more comfortable bed for the siesta. We bought one so that problem will be solved for you. We also hired via the owner an extra cleaning service in between. Last but not least we can also recommend the rum runners restaurant at Habitat. Beautiful location nice food and modest pricesRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
