This was a wonderful apartment, conveniently located on the Upper West Side. Easy access to subways, Central Park and large number of restaurants and shops. The owners were very accommodatiing to our last minute rental request, even making the apartment available for an early check-in time. The space was exactly as pictured -- very clean, comfortable bed, small but efficient kitchen. Building is home to many families with children and yet the apartment was very quiet. Fully staffed doorman 24/7 were very courteous and helpful. We visit NYC a few times each year and will most definitely plan on returning to this great apartment.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car.

Stayed in this apartment over Thanksgiving and it could not have been better. The owners assured us that they hired a new cleaning service and they did! All the linens and towels were fresh and the apartment spotless. The doorman were lovely and helped us with taxis and directions. The owners work in the theatre and helped us get tickets for a Broadway Show on Thanksgiving weekend! Really a perfect stay for our holiday. We would comeback without a doubt!Recommended for: Romantic getaway
Owner response: Thanks Betty...Happy to help our guests with theatre ticket advice and anything else...Glad you could appreciate the extra attention to cleanliness....We love our apartment and are glad you had such a great holiday.

My daughter lives in a tiny NY apartment and I have been looking for somewhere to stay when I come visit that is not a hotel. I just stayed in this condo for a week and thought it was lovely. The location is great- very much a neighborhood. Everyone in the building was helpful. The restaurants around the area are real, not touristy places. The accommodations were exactly as portrayed and expected. Everything was clean. I will certainly come back to this condo as often as my daughter invites me- she even stayed with me for a few days since it was much larger than her place. We had a blast. I've read some of the reviews below and wonder if they have the wrong address! The comment about the tiny TV was especially silly- who goes to NY to watch TV??Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for you review...Hope to see you again when you vsist your daughter...

This apartment is located in a convenient area, upper Upper West Side, very near Central Park. This area has lots of upscale young families, and is a bit away from the heart of Manhattan, though it's easy to get everywhere via nearby subways and buses. If you come here, you must try Turkuaz nearby on Broadway, also Pearl's fusion Asian, and the Flor De Mayo Peruvian. Broadway Bagels has good bagels, and all the NYC-style pizza places nearby are good. Whole Foods downstairs is very convenient, though we spent as much for a week's worth there as we do for a month at home in Silicon Valley. A ubiquitous Starbucks across the street is there is you tire of French-press coffee or just need a cappuccino fix. You do need to be aware that north of 100th starts the projects, though the area around the building seemed quite safe, I wouldn't venture too far north along Columbus. The building presents as quite luxurious, the attentive and helpful doormen greet you as you come in, and there is a semi-circular drive off of Columbus that is handy to avoid double parking on the street when you are dropping off. The lobby is clean and spacious. The common areas include a very nice 3rd floor outdoor area with tables and chairs (outdoor dining if the weather is right), plus a well-equipped little gym which always had aerobic equipment available, though the weight machine sometimes got backed up. The pool is huge, and nice. Adequate for-pay laundry facilities in the basement, though avoid Sundays! The apt. is modern, adequate sized, minimally furnished. The dining area is small but fine for four. The BR has a comfortable, but low platform-style bed, someone with mobility issues might have difficulty getting up from it. Decent closet space. The LCD TV in LR is a tiny joke. The kitchen is minimally equipped, I bought and donated a toaster, since we couldn't deal with a month without toast. No sharp knives or sharpener, no blender, no cutting board, no microwave bowl. We donated wine glasses, too. Cleanliness was ok, not perfect. Smoke detector still disconnected! The apartment faces the western back of the bldg., so traffic noise is minimal, but the proximity to the 100th street NYPD and NYFD stations means sirens at random times all day (and night) long, plus, the buildings in back are under major renovation with construction noises all day, so keep the air conditioning on and windows closed. I'm pretty sure this is a sublet, not owned as this appears to be a rental bldg.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the toaster... The apartment is equpiied for 4 with glassware/wine glasses and dinner and flatware. Perhaps some have been broken . But we will make sure that anyting missing will be replaced. Honestly most guests do very little cooking so I have not equipped the kitchen for major cooking. But for a month I totally understnd that you needed a better kitchen. pLease come back and visit again and I would be happy to provide a great bottle of wine for the 2 glasses and toaster you purchased...

My husband and I and our 20 month old daughter stayed in this condo in early August 2012 for a week. Everything was in order when we arrived and we able to get the keys from the reception and access the apartment as soon as we arrived at the building. The building itself is new, all of the general building amenities are great. The location is okay. It is almost at 100W so quite high. It was however a huge plus to be steps away from Whole Foods and there was a good selection of restaurants and shops of all sorts in the vicinity - typical upper west side scenario. The condo itself is small but in NYC, that is to be expected and it was manageable. It was not however, the cleanest of places. We were greeted by trash in the kitchen garbage bin right upon our arrival. Under the bed looked like it had not been swept in ages (with a toddler, things fall on the floor so I had cause to look under there, unfortunately). For a week's stay, we had a handful of bath towels, if that and one set of sheets for the bed. Just not enough in my opinion. I'd say that the listing description and the photos for this condo are accurate and it is a very decent place with a nice contemporary finish and decor. My issue was really with the cleanliness of the place and the lack of amenities to some extent. The owner was helpful prior to our arrival and answered all questions promptly. However, I felt that she could have been alot more helpful in providing us with information about the area other than by way of the few brochures and menus that were left in the kitchen. We visit NYC every summer and always stay in VRBO sourced accomodation and found save for this experience, the owners of the places we have stayed to be so much more helpful in providing tips, guidance and information about what to see, do, where to eat etc in the vicinity (local inside information if you will) and that has so enhanced our experience in the past. We did not get that from this owner. All in all, a decent stay but I don't think we will stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: We have hired a new clenaing service recently so I am happy to report all is spit spot...as for information we afre happy to provide information about Broadway and Off Braodway tickets but we did not hear from you...Most people who come to NYC know what they want to do but we are here to help if you give us a shout out!

Just wasn't clean. I was not comfortable in the space when I arrived because of this. Carpets in hallways to apartments were stained and tired, hair on floor in bathroom, dingy floor mat, dead bugs in corners of den, tons of dust on window sills, air vents caked with dust, scared to look under bed, walls and trim on doors were dirty and needed painting, fridge had open food left in it, fridge shelves were dirty, not enough linens, a/c in den not as cold as one in bedroom, mold on plastic shower curtain, outer shower curtain stained, used bar of soap left in shower--yuck! I called the owner that evening and she instantly said she would have someone come the next day and clean again. I left a list of things I saw and they did do as much as they could on the list. some of the dust was still on the windows/ on the air vents, but I was much more comfortable in the space once they returned. It seems like the owner is a busy lady and she would have her assistant clean the space instead of professional housekeepers, but not really sure. On the day I left, she sent me a text that she was having a cleaning service come in and when I spoke with her on the phone earlier that week she told me she would address the other things like the walls, but couldn't do them in the time frame when I wasn't in the apartment. The most dangerous thing I saw was the smoke detectors (2) in the apartment that were disconnected. I only saw hanging wires from the devices. Not sure if they are suspose to be in there are not--maybe the building has another system in place, but it was quite alarming to see this. I did make her aware of this too. If all of the above is addressed and fixed, I think this could be a decent place to stay in, but for now I would be weary.Owner response: We have hired a new cleaning service and the apartment is inspected before anyone arrives by the owners rep.

My husband, teenage son, and I stayed in this apartment for 8 days this July. This apartment was just as depicted on the website: small, but comfortable space with a great view. The cleanliness upon arrival was not up to my high standards (some hair in bathroom, dust on floor - especially under the bed- that would migrate out, milk and other perishables left in the fridge) but I was able to find supplies to help remedy that. The kitchen was not really conducive to lots of meal preparation, but there was no need to do that with an amazing Whole Foods market next door. Complete meals could be bought there and brought back to the apartment-no tips necessary. The tap water actually tasted good. The best thing about this site was the 3rd floor outdoor area and indoor great room. We ate, relaxed and played cards in our own private park complete with grass, trees, flowers, tables, lounge chairs just 6 floors down. It was amazing to be in the middle of Manhattan and have such a beautiful spot to get away from the hustle and bustle. I wish a few photos could be included of this place. The pool was ok, but very busy during the week with lessons for little ones being taught there. Everyone we encountered at the desk and throughout the property was helpful and pleasant. The bus was about 1 block away and the subway was about 2 blocks away, which made travel quite easy. Just down the street is Central Park with a nice lake and great strolling. Definitely on the mid to lower end price range when compared to other accommodations in the area. With a little extra care in its cleaning, perhaps a bit more in the way of dishes (more than one wineglass perhaps?) and I would have marked this as excellent rather than good.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The positive: Good location. Ideally it would be 20 blks further south in order to be in walking distance of best shops, midtown, theater, etc, but you couldn't get this property at this price there. At 98 and Columbus, you are so close to the bus, two different subway lines, Central Park, and yes, the Whole Foods (it can't be overrated!). Great for us. Great building/apartment. Everyone who worked in this blding was helpful/courteous--with directions, luggage, laundry issues and maintenance. The air wasn't working in one room, and they took care of it immediately. The tub needed to be drained, and they took care of it immediately. The apartment has internet, a small but perfectly functional kitchen, a comfortable double bed, and very comfortable living area furniture-- though I don't know why the tv is only the size of a small computer screen. It's the one thing that isn't in keeping with the rest of the amenities. The pool is great and the green space is amazing! Lounges to read outside (in NY!) and tables to eat on as well. Amazing. The not so positive: The apartment cleanliness. Like someone else who reviewed this property before me but after I booked, the apartment did not feel clean, specifically the bathroom. It was icky. There was much long dark hair on the floor, which then makes one ask, was this bathroom cleaned at all? The tub did not drain so the water in the shower collected around my ankles, in what felt like a dirty tub. The dishwasher was full when I arrived. It was probably clean, but I would have no way of being sure, so I first had to run it myself. I had to buy bath soap immediately and sponges. I did some cleaning immediately. And it's not the way one wants to walk into an apartment/home for two weeks. Upside: once I cleaned it, it was a great home for me and my 12 yr old. The owner: It was made clear from her assistant, Katy, immediately that she wasn't available prior to booking. She was somewhere working, or she was on vacation. I was to go through Katy (who was lovely overall). That was odd for me given many previous VRBO experiences. Also, the website directly mentions they can help you with theater tickets which is misleading as she had no help other than to direct me to broadwaybox. com, a website I already use. When we had cleanliness issues and requested it be cleaned, both Katy and the owner got hostile and offered me a refund if I'd like to leave. Bottom line: Good apt/location; Odd/uncomfortable interface dynamic.Owner response: Just had a chance to read your review. I was out of town and Katy is my assistant. I believe she met you at the apt and she left after you had inspected the apt. I remember we offered to have someone come and clean again . Since your stay we have hired a different cleaning service and all is sparkly clean. If we knew what tickets you wanted we could help arrange the tickets.

We used to live in Manhattan and wanted our 13 year old daughter to experience her first trip to NYC like a resident. This apartment was phenomenal for all of us. Clean, comfortable, and a great location. We loved that we could show our daughter all of the markets where we used to shop. We were so exhausted one evening we even ordered in from an old favorite restaurant and just chilled. We so appreciated the fact that there were some basic staples we didn't have to purchase. Thank you!! We have recommended to all and will be back again. Loved how close it was to the park and public transportation. One of the best Whole Foods is just out the door.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When we first arrived, the attendant at the front desk didn't have our names as having rented the unit for the time we had reserved. The attendant was somewhat rude and certainly not friendly. I think that some of the lobby staff need lessons in PR and communication skills. Other lobby staff were quite pleasant. I was not happy that the bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned well, hairs not swept up. There were noticeable dust balls behind headboard of bed and on living room bottom window sills near the floor. The living room rug hadn't been adequately vacuumed as there were food bits all throughout shag carpet. The sheets left for futon bed in living room didn't fit. The fitted sheet was for a smaller bed. The one and only blanket for the futon had soiled areas on it like food stains. Cleanliness was sorely lacking. THe location was good, close to Central Park. I wouldn't stay in that unit again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I stayed in this lovely apartment for three nights the week before Christmas, 2011. We were visiting our daughter in NYC, but her apartment is far too tiny to accomodate guests so we looked for something close by the Columbia University campus. I think we hit the jackpot with this unit, so spacious, well-appointed, and light-filled! The furniture is comfortable for relaxing (important to my husband!). The doormen and the desk clerks are friendly and very helpful, and the building is new, clean, and attractive. To top it all, there is a wonderful pool and exercise facility in the building. You really could just spend your entire vacation in the building, but.......just outside the door, there are wonderful shops, including Whole Foods, T J Maxx, and Homegoods, and a bakery. With just a quick walk on tree-lined streets, you can be on either the A B C D trains or the 1 2 3 9 trains to quickly enjoy all that New York City has to offer. The apartment is also in walking distance of lots of interesting areas on the upper West side, including the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. We were pleasantly surprised to meet the owner upon our early morning arrival. She made us feel welcome, and is even more charming than the apartment. We felt incredibly blessed those three days and nights to have such a wonderful place to call home. I know where we'll stay the next time we can get a New York City get-away. Thanks!!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We recently travled to NYC for the ING NYC MARATHON and reserved this great apartment on Columbus Avenue!! As we arrived the first day, we were thrilled at the equisite entry of the condominium!! It had a glass front, double door entry which gave it an upscale appearance. We were delighted as we entered the building to find 2 welcoming doormen who were not only helpful, but VERY PROFESSIONAL!! It only took us seconds to get the keys, as everything was fully arranged and ready for us upon our arrival. We then entand check into our apartment. Afterwards, we got on an elevator that took us to the 9th floor to our apartment. Upon entering, we found a very clean, cozy and nicely decorated area!! Perfect for me and my husband! The bedroom and bathroom are separate from the kitchen and living room. The bedroom has 2 double closets, one with a dresser for us to use so that we that we could feel at home instead of living out of a suitcase!! The bed itself was very comfortable and had a great down comforter which I personally just LOVE!! I spent a bit of time at the kitchen table using my laptop to access the Internet. The WIFI was provided by the owner at no charge to us. My husband enjoyed sitting in the lounge chair in the living room watching televison on a flat screen tv, which was small for the room, but nothing to complain about!! It served its purpose and I liked the fact that it had the Ti-Vo feature where you can pause the show you are watching!! Beyond the great apartment we found an abundance of conveience!! Right next door is SEPHORA (a woman's make-up playground)!! ;) Right next to Sephora was TJ MAX (a woman's shopping playground)!! ;) And on the other side of the apartment was a LARGE Whole Foods Market where I spent alot of my time!! We also found many restaurants, coffee shops and bake shops around us which made it very hard to leave the area!! :) Finally, I want to make a special note about the dooremen at the apartment. These guys were PHENOMENAL!!! Whenever we needed a cab, needed info on the city or whatever the case, they were more than helpful. They were very personable and always held the door for usno matter if we were entering with shopping bags or nothing at all!! They offered all the quality serivce you would expect at an upscale residence like this one!! We will definately stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone traveling the area!! This place offers affordability, quality and convenience!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I am a bit of a snob, so an excellent review is not common place for me -- but this was a perfect stay in NYC. Too often people overstating what they offer -- instead this place was totally understated in the description and photos. This brand new building has all of the amenities you could want -- doorman, concierge, pool, gym, and more! The location was just as perfect -- a Whole Foods, endless food options, and easy subway/bus access! The apartment was also really perfect for the two of us -- everything is new, the kitchen even has a dishwasher (a luxury item in NYC), the bathroom has stylist modern subway tiling and marble, the floor-to-ceiling windows give a sense of space and openness, and the bedroom and living room set-up are very comfortable. The service was also wonderful -- the owner was kind, responsive, and very accommodating. Just can't say enough about how perfect this place is for a NYC vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
