The Boone Family Lodge absolutely has it all! This place is perfectly equipped for a large family reunion We had 10 computers up and running on the WiFi easily, moved around some tables so everyone could eat together and we used both ovens and both fridges since our group was so large. Oh, two sets of washer/dryers too and plenty of parking. We love how some rooms slept 4 comfortably and the little additional "nook bedrooms" were a nice unexpected bonus (they added a new bed since last time), we count 11.5 bedrooms as there could be 12 with the addition of another door in one NE bedroom! We cannot thank Blue Ridge For Rent enough - they helped us plan the trip, gave great recommendations (River Girl Fishing, Stickboy Bread Company, Sky Valley Zip Line which is brand NEW this year!) and allowed us a late check-out without expecting us to pay more. Top notch and reasonably priced! We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

Just returned from "Boone Family Lodge" and already want to go back! This rental was as-advertised or maybe better than described. Kids loved having their own TV room, the game tables and, of course, the hot tub. The old folks loved when the kids finally went to bed. A lot of bedrooms, great views, plenty of privacy since we are a loud bunch and a complex heating system all made for a nice stay. Clean, Huge and everything we wanted. Maybe 2 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 10 minutes to a Wal-Mart or multiple grocery stores and we had restaurants delivered to the home twice by a local company. We recommend this rental to anyone that has a large group or just needs a lot of beds. The girls want to plan a girls getaway with more of their friends, so we will be return visitors!!! Thank you so much and cannot wait for next year!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

We have a large extended family that travels to Boone, North Carolina every year. We've been doing this for the past 20yrs. Every year our family gets bigger and bigger with the addition of generations. We usually struggle to find a house that can accomdate our entire group until we came across the Blue Ridge Family Lodge. The spacious cabin provides enough room to house our entire family of 24+. It has a beautiful scenic overview of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Complete with a hot tub and pool table there are plenty of things for the adults and children to do in the home. There is a nice man that lives next door who allows the children to visit his horse stables. He even let the children ride the horses last year! The only downside was the appearance of the carpet, and I have just been told by the mamagement company that they are replacing all of the carpet with hard wood floors. Overall, we had a great stay! We can't wait until next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The cleanliness and general state of the lodge did not meet our expectations. Here are the major items we noted: - The first level has a very stale, moldy smell and the second floor had a strong odor of cat urine. The smell in the upstairs laundry closet was particularly bad. - The screens in the kitchen had a substantial amount of dust. - There were long black hairs in several piles of bath towels throughout the house. - The carpet is worn and stained in every room. - The ceiling fans were unusable due to thick layers of dust on the blades. - Most showers had a green substance on the floors. - The walls had multiple structural cracks, and they were scuffed or marked. - The windowsills in the upstairs common area were very dirty. - Dishes did not seem to have been cleaned or dusted off in quite some time. - The rugs in several bathrooms were very worn and dingy. - There is a very concerning hole in the ceiling above the pool table. We noticed a tarp was used to cover it. - The upstairs bedroom with the mattress on wooden slats did not have bed sheets. - Lamps were broken, some light bulbs did not work. - Quilts, bedspreads and comforters did not seem to have been washed. - Buckets, shelving and other items in yard.Owner response: Thank you for the list of issues you feel you encountered while staying at Family Lodge. Please be reminded that we had to approve a last-minute FOUR hour early check-in so your group could arrive before the impending snow storm? We like to think that if you had called either caretaker upon arrival or at any time during your stay or not showed up 4 hours early, we could have quickly remedied the issues, those with merit anyhow. After 3 years of happy renters (including those that stayed in the weeks following your group) and only 5 star reviews, this review was quite painful to swallow, especially with how this group left the home, but the review history of this home should speak for itself. That being said, and without addressing the entire list, we completed a full Spring cleaning following this departure and the owner has chosen to replace the upstairs carpeting with bamboo floors, scheduled for delivery on 2/26/13. There is no smell in the 5600 sq ft home nor has a cat ever been in the house (both the owner and cleaner are allergic) and to date, we have yet to have another group question the cleanliness of the home, its linens or its towels. In hindsight, we should have never approved a 4 hour early check-in (we try to be overly accomodating) and we probably should have charged this group's security deposit for the broken pool stick, the new carpet stains left for us and the overall mess left. Per the cleaner's notes, it looks like this group had a really, really good time, so some things just don't add up. The only good to come of this is that everyone in the future will get to enjoy new hardwood floors upstairs. Should anyone reading this have any questions, please do call the office directly, and please make sure you read all 20+ reviews.

This house was exactly what had been hoped for when our group rented the property. The home has fantastic views from all sides and is very accommodating for a large group. The home was very clean when we arrived, you can tell the owner takes pride in the property and guests' experience. Overall, we had a great time in Boone, and I do not think it would have been the same with a different house. If you are debating renting this property, don't, it is very much so worth it!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is a great house to use for a big group. We had 16 adults, and everyone had a real bed and some privacy and there is plenty of space in this house to spread out. The kitchens are fully stocked. We spent most of the trip in the sun room or around the pool table. The pictures and description are very accurate, and the rental company is helpful and responsive. Our group plans to come back next year. The house is an easy drive to Boone and Blowing Rock.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We found the "Lodge" excellent accommodations for a large group; the location was great for shopping, sightseeing and restaurants. It certainly met all the needs of our group and we would certainly return for another reunion. Also, the owner was most helpful in answering all our questions and concerns.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

"We had a blast staying here this weekend. The house is incredible and we are very appreciative of the accommodations. We rode horses at the Stable, shopped downtown, and enjoyed the beautiful weather all weekend. Thank you again so very much for allowing us to stay and create more lasting memories with our youth group. We're already looking forward to our next stay here. The Family Lodge was the perfect place for our Spring Retreat. It was very spacious and had enough bedrooms for our married couples and for our single people. The two kitchens were a hit with the cooks that allowed us to cook for the entire group 20(people) at one time, so that everyone could eat at the same time. The layout of the house was great with most of the rooms having private bathrooms and private entrances and exits that provided lots of privacy. This year the vote was unanimous on our location for our Spring Retreat. The Family Lodge!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The house was really great. It was simply decorated with lots of rooms for large groups. We had 23 people and everyone had a real beds to sleep in (not fold-out couches or futons). The house has an interesting layout but had a nice communal family room upstairs attached to another nice large room with a pool table. The back deck had a great view and the hot-tub downstairs was great after skiing. All of the cookware you need is supplied including a coffee maker. I hope we return! Oh, and it's located about 45 minutes from Sugar Mountain. Very close to Boone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Ryan, your group is welcome back any time and we are happy you enjoyed the area's largest rental! We truly appreciate it when a younger group takes great care of our property. For clarity, we have a Boone address and it is a 10 minute drive into downtown Boone NC from Family Lodge. Thanks again!

Best vacation spot ever! Nice views, clean, 5000 square feet, comfortable beds, and so easy to work with. We went to the property to get the keys as opposed to 20 minutes out of the way like usual. Plenty to do in the house for hours of family fun (foosball, boardgames, pool table, hot tub and horseriding next door). Also, lots to do outside the house: nature walks, 20 mins to skiing, golf near by, etc... [more] WE HAD THE BEST TIME!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Kyle, we wanted to thank you personally for offering your spacious home for rent and at a price our families could afford. Finding something that provided the privacy each family wanted in our budget was daunting, but Family Lodge passed with flying colors and EVERYONE truly enjoyed our stay. The roads were easy access with the towns a short drive, the hot tub and pool table a hit with the kids, everything functioned fine and we hope to return this Fall. Nice house, nice location, clean, private and quiet. Mins to Boone, Blowing Rock, & Parkway. A lot of space for everyone to enjoy inside with bedroom layouts good for a lot of family sizes. Some bedrooms sleep 4 cumfy -- 24 will sleep very easy without using a couch! A lot to do around the property. Hot Tub in the fall was wonderful -- so peaceful and relaxing. Older family members loved the sun room --- watched the kids riding horses next door, gem mining, Linville Falls, hikinh Grandfather, and really good restaurants including a lot of veggie/vegan options! We just booked again for July 2012.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in this house for my sister's wedding and I was thrilled that the house was big, clean, and stocked with everything we would need, but I was not happy about the lack of care given to this property. The glassed in sun-room looked nothing like it looks in the pictures on your website. There were huge stains n the white carpet; huge stains on the chair cushions; pots with dead flowers laying all around the upper decking; pots with dead plants inside; broken chairs, bent boogie boards and trash laying up against the house and trash piles up against the house as well. The trash can outside the home was filled with debris and plastic and the recycling bin was filled with water. The inside decorations included baskets filled with pine cones and Christmas decorations, and tons of tacky nicknacks that needed to be thrown away (spent candles, Consumer Reports from 2007, broken children's toys, old phone books, etc). These things are not what you expect in a high end property. It took me hours to de-tacky this home in order to make it presentable for photos that would be taken at the reception. I then had to put all of the ugly stuff back so as to ensure that we would get our deposit back. This is a very nice house; however, the caretakers need to do a better job at staging it for guests. Very disappointed in this aspect. I will also note that the front door had just been painted and was still wet and there was a big much pile that had not been fully spread directly in front of the front steps. I do think that this property is a terrific value and a very nice home with a very practical layout, but it is just that the caretakers need to take more time to attend to some of the other details that make a good property a great property without costing anything more!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: We appreciate your pointing out that the property was "big, clean, had a practical layout, was stocked with everything you need, a very nice home" and, "is a terrific value." We pride ourselves in offering the largest and one of the more popular area rentals. Your feedback as well as your care in returning all items back to their original places is appreciated, but we feel it is important to also remind you that the bride in your party personally looked over the property and gave her approval prior to booking. Additionally, the caretakers were involved in spring cleaning prior to your arrival, and a few projects had not been completed before your unexpected early arrival; both earlier than usual and earlier than initially requested. If you had let us know the things that you felt were not satisfactory, we would have remedied them right away as we did with the small pile of landscaping mulch which was removed completely and the area swept upon request. Addressing your concerns about the decor, I should remind you that every vacation rental is a private residence and it is vital to respect the owner's decorative appointments even if they are not in keeping with your own preferences. There are over 45 photos of this property on our management website, including pictures of every single room. We ALWAYS welcome a personal visit prior to renting The Family Lodge, and were happy to have the bride of your party approve this home, its layout, its price, and lastly, its decor for her own wedding events. We regret that your opinion was to "de-tacky" the aesthetics of the decor, but we understand that a sister's wedding is a very special event and you wanted everything perfect for her, even though she had personally approved the home as-it-was. Our caretakers often bend over backwards to appease our renters (including laying brand new mulch for your specific visit). We are proud of the Family Lodge and the many improvements we have made recently, and are happy to also report that the spring cleaning has been completed and our work on the grounds continues to add to the beauty of the overall property. Thank you for visiting Boone Family Lodge and taking the time to provide constructive feedback. - Kyle

Our vacationing party size is 21 and staying in two nearby homes is not an option for how we do the beach, so finding this home made a mountain vacation possible. REVIEW: The rental process was simple (credit card). Directions fine and location as advertised. The offered more than was advertised! We were pleased to find out THE HOME ACTUALLY HAS 12 BEDROOMS, NOT 9. The home is quite interesting, reminded us of a B&B without a homemaker. Everyone had space and seven showers. The home was clean and as-advertised and the grounds were kept for the season. Finding a cabin so big was a blessing. No complaints other than the lack of bath tubs (ONLY SHOWERS) and the restaurant recommendations were perfect "Knights on Main" for breakfast iN Blowing Rock and an adult dinner at "The GameKeeper" (expensive, fancy and amazing!). Would return and would recommend. Good value and quite clean.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.
Owner response: Happy to share the Boone area's largest cabin rental and happy you enjoyed your visit to Boone Family Lodge. We will continue to advertise our home as "9.5 bedrooms" - after discussions with rental parties, it is easier for everyone that way - it is a big house! Hopefully you enjoyed the Fooseball table we just added, we will need to update our websites to include it as well as the fireplaces :) Those are two restaurant recommendations that never let down our guests! Thanks for your visit! - Kyle
