My husband and I just returned from a wonderful stay at Highland Cottage. The cottage is cozy and warm and perfect for a couple looking to get away. We enjoyed the gas fireplace and the well-maintained hot tub! It was a wonderful bonus to be able to walk right into town without having to look for parking. The cookies were a delicious welcoming touch. We look forward to returning in the future!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Myself and my wife have just had a great 2 days at the Highland Cottage. Just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of town this little cottage was really cozy and welcoming. Enjoyed Cathy's homemade cookies, fruit bowl and fresh coffee. Will be looking at returning in the future either with or without the kids.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We stayed at the Highland Cottage for Ironman Lake Placid and couldn't be happier. The cottage had plenty of room, was clean and had everything we needed to have a smooth race week. The fully stocked kitchen was great. It was a nice touch to have cookies and fruit waiting for us upon arrival. Cathy was a great host. The ability to do laundry and free wi-fi were huge plusses. It is a very short walk into town which saves the hassle of trying to find parking during busy times. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This cottage was extra-ordinary in every way. Very cozy, excellent use of space, fully stocked. The bath tub in the gazebo really took the cake as me and my girlfriend spent innumerable hours there listening to our favorite songs. I cannot imagine a more romantic getaway in the winter. I'm definitely coming here again!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This cottage is a perfect cozy spot for a couple or small family. We arrived for a couple's weekend for relaxation and to have some fun around the High Peaks. It's very centrally located in the village of Lake Placid, walking distance to most of the restaurants, bars and shopping in town (key since it's impossible to find parking on Main St. during the busier times of the year, and you don't have to worry about the designated driver). Cathy (the owner) is very nice, and ensures there is a little treat waiting for you, coffee, cream, juice, a stocked kitchen with spices, condiments, pots and pans, utensils, etc. With its an open layout, it's not ideal (but still acceptable) for mom and dad traveling with kids and seeking some alone, romantic time, but otherwise very private.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

After a long drive from Toronto, this cottage was the perfect retreat for some weary travellers. Greeted by freshly baked cookies, a basket of fruit, a kitchen with everything we needed...we knew we had struck gold. The cottage's proximity to the main strip in Lake Placid, its privacy and welcoming owner made our stay very comforting. A great spot to explore downtown Lake Placid or for the sporty types a nice place to come back to after a long bike ride or some shredding on the slopes. The hot tub was a welcome diversion for some worn out muscles. Cathy was a gracious and resourceful host. Would definitely come back not just for the cookies, but for the cozy bed and relaxing getaway that it promised to be and was!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We were up for a 2 night getaway over the Mothers Day weekend. The weather was chilly, but our hearts were warmed by the charm of thiscottage. It is spotless and smells very fresh, unlike some musty cottages we've rented in the past. All the linens that were included, were also fresh and clean. It's layout makes it appear much larger that it is. Even with our two teens, we didn't feel crowded at all. The two pullouts are perfect for a small family. The deck and the patio, are beneficial for privacy. Everything promised was in perfect working order and the kitchen is very well stocked. Extras included: home baked cookies, coffee and cream(being Canadian-we really appreciate this over Coffeemate!)OJ, assorted condiments and a lovely basket of fruit. We appreciated the recycle bin and charcoal grill. We enjoyed playing the games provided each evening and valued the proximity to town. A mere 25 step walk to Marcy St hill and then right into town. Very close to everything! Cathy is so kind and accommodating. Why would you stay anywhere else?Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
