This is a classic, 100 year-old beach house, with original heart-pine 'bead-board' interior, which was built by the family of the current owners. (The firemen who inspect it annually have told us it is their favorite house on Sullivans Island!) The kitchen is newly renovated with modern appliances. (cooking & eating utensils provided.) Living room, dining room, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (shower in each). There are 2 bedrooms downstairs (each with a queen bed). Upstairs is one large room with a queen bed and a double bed and another large room with a queen, a double and a single bed. Central AC & heat, plus cast iron wood stove (firewood provided). Two large covered & screened porches, with ping pong table, rocking chairs & other wicker furniture, plus a small roof-top deck, great for evening viewing of stars and glimpse of ocean.
The house sits on a grassy, 1/2 acre lot, with lots of play-space for kids. Sandy area under the house is great for playing & digging. For extra fun for the children, there is a Charleston joggling board as well as a dollhouse in the backyard. Our home is on a beach access station and the child-friendly beach is an easy hundred yards away.

This was our first try at renting a home. We usually use our timeshare, but it wasn't large enough. This place is EXACTLY like it is portrayed in the pictures, and MORE. We used all the space, with 13 of us staying here at one point during our week. The kitchen has all you need (many dish sets, serving bowls, made it fun), it was super clean too. It was stocked with paper towels, dish and dishwasher soap and garbage bags....even spices! Plus, what you ran out of could be could in one of the many storage rooms all over the house. This place had more towels than anyone could ever need, including some beach towels. The owners were exceptionally helpful with questions we emailed them ahead of time, and even while there. It was very hot and, being from Canada where we have NO ac, it kept us cool, even in the upstairs rooms. The walk to the beach was picturesque, close (about 2 blocks) and the beach definitely kid friendly with tidal pools just right for an 8 year old. Under the house was a goldmine of equipment, from propane and burner for boiling the crabs we caught outdoors instead of in the kitchen to beach chairs to water toys big enough for teens and adults, plus a wagon or a cart to tote it all to the beach. There was even a large beach umbrella that worked for shade! This place, called "The Island", I believe, in a book on Sullivan's Island found in the house (which has books and games tucked away for use) - is convenient to grocery stores in Mt Pleasant and an easy distance to Charleston and the other islands for restaurants (try Bowen's Island restaurant - fried food in a "shack-like" building - great "local feeling"). We won't stay anywhere else on return trips to the Charleston area. This place MADE our vacation better! We can't say enough good things about it! Thank you so much!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family had a great time at this vacation spot-house held all of us nicely. Had plenty of towels, etc Nice roomy kitchen, dining room for all to cook and eat. Nice access to the beach and close to great restaurants. Grandkids loved the place. Hide and seek, ping pong were popular when not at the beach or being forced to take family pics. Loved the porch too-room for everyone to visit outside without bugs. I do have to say that Sullivan's Island has big mosquitos-rivals Louisiana. Great place. Would recommend highly-owners very helpfulRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family has been renting this beach house every summer since 1995 and it never disappoints! It has such a classic 'Charleston beach house' feel although it has great modern updates. I've been with my family for 15 years and last year, I brought several of my girl friends (mid-20's) and we had a blast. It's a great place to vacation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: So many of our renters have returned year after year and now Sullivan's Island is a summer tradition. We enjoy getting to know our returning renters and hopefully making them feel a part of our extended family!

About the owner: Our family lives here in Charleston and Mt. Pleasant and are easily available for any concerns or questions that arise for renters. Many of our renters have rented from us for over 10 and some for 20 years with summers at Sullivan's Island becoming a family tradition!
