70th Birthday Celebration
70th Birthday Celebration
We are a family of 7 adults and 5 grandchildren between ages of 13 to 20. The best thing we did was to spend the $400 to use the watercraft. The difficulty with teens is that they can get board and can't find anything to do. That did not happen on this vacation. The paddle boat, canoe, 2 person kayak, ping pong table and pool table kept them always with something to do. Fishing from the dock and paddle boat worked out great also. One of the 15 year olds snuck out at 6am the morning we left to get in some fishing (sunfish & perch). The California family have 3 boys and our daughter said, "I have not seen the boys spending so much time outside as I have seen them this week"; they're into video games and computers at home. The open kitchen, dining area and family room is great for entertaining. If you just want to vege they have hundreds of videos; the owner must have bought out the VHS's of a a video store. Part of the rental included the cleaning crew which was great. What was required for us to do before leaving was easily accomplished. We found things clean and tidy with ample supplies. Shopping for small items we could find at a nearby gas station/convenience store and major shopping was not too far away. There is a back way to Mashpee Commons rotary where the major shopping area are. Instead of going left on rt 130 to 28, go right on 130 to the first set of lights then left to the rotary. You will avoid the 28 backup.

Perfect Cape house!
Perfect Cape house!
**this visit was actually in October of 2011, but life gets in the way of timely reviews sometimes... ** My best girlfriends and I had been talking about planning our great Cape escape for ohhh about a year, and I was put in charge of scouting out a location. Having been away from the east coast for a few years, I wanted to find a perfect little waterfront cape house that would allow us to fully enjoy the New England fall - and this home fit the bill (and budget) to a T! Booking was really easy, as the owners were super easy to communicate with and very much on the ball with things, which I appreciated. Big things first - Gorgeous open layout and sweeping views of the water and surrounding woods whether in the living room or outside on any of the (several) decks. Fabulous kitchen with alllllll the gadgets which is key if you're a bunch of foodies like we are. Everything was neat, clean, and fresh, despite the fact that it was the 'off-season'. Speaking of which, we had a couple blustery New England days that kept us in a bit, but there was no shortage of stuff to keep us occupied - there were board games, a ping pong table, a pool table (my personal favorite!), and a ginormous video collection. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into this place, there's helpful tips everywhere from photos and labels in the cabinets telling you where things go, to coffee table books about the local Native American tribes which help you better appreciate some of the really neat art/decor. There was also a great book they had put together with tons of information about local attractions, restaurants, etc which was helpful on several occasions. Oh, and it's a small thing (but kinda a big thing), but one of the main outside motion lights went out the our second night of our visit so we checked with the owners about replacing it, and the next morning their handyman was there fixing it. Awesome! In summary - We had the best besties week ever, and this great location was a big part of it. I speak for all of us when I say that your property is at the top of our lists for cape destinations for our next east coast escape!

Our Visit to Cape Cod
Our Visit to Cape Cod
Note that most of the reviews are VERY old. I do not think anything has been done to this house in 20 years. Stayed in downstairs bedroom. Entire downstairs was VERY musty. Mold growing on bathroom ceiling. Our Bedroom had no windows, no smoke alarm and no closet. The "bed" was an old futon with three mattresses on it. So bad that I slept on the couch the second night. The "clean" towels smelled so bad we had to wash and dry them before we could use them. Bottom line---I would not recommend this house to anyone.

Owner response: We take pride in our home; it’s rented year round. We’re available by phone & email & respond immediately to all issues. Guest did not request assistance. 2009 replaced couches, tables, lamps. 2008 replaced 2 mattresses & entire bed. 2007 dishwasher incorrectly loaded, glass broke shredding inside, replaced w/ top of line Kitchen Aid in 24 hrs. 2011 replaced washing machine within 24 hrs of being told it wasn’t working properly, its only repair issue ever. We are on a lake, so dehumidification is integral to our HVAC system plus a 2nd dehumidifier runs 24/7 on lower floor. Immediately after guest departed, cleaners reported dehumidifier had been turned off. 1996 rebuilt home, inspected to ensure proper fire detectors, we added wireless smoke & heat detectors & radon & CO2 detectors too, fire extinguishers throughout home. It’s possible a battery smoke detector was detached by a guest to stop beeping battery. A call to us would have our handyman replace battery quickly (they are checked weekly) Windowless “bedroom” is our Library, which is described twice in our “Frequently Asked Questions Guide” emailed to every potential guest. Copy: Library (this room has no windows) 2 Adults, 1 Queen - full size futon with cabinets to store personal items, Color TV, cable, VCR, reading lamp on nightstand, clock, phone, games & books. Room approx 11 x 12, maximum 2 guests. Adjacent to Minor Great Room, this room has no view & is attached to utility room. Futon: 3 cotton mattresses. Most futons 6” ours are 8” each. 2008 we replace futon’s with regular beds in most rooms. Library futon has (3) 8" mattresses to increase comfort. No other complaints ever on library. When alerted, we respond quickly to resolving any issues. Manager cleans all towels & linens weekly. Fact; beds are never made for guests, folded fresh linens & towels near each bed, assuring towels & linens are clean & not used, plus we always have extra towels in laundry room & laundry detergent too. Guests write reviews in our hardbound guest or concierge books, we have no control over what they write, or the comments they leave. When this guest left & our cleaners arrived, they too noticed a musty smell, + detected a foul odor coming from the laundry room. We immediately called our plumber he discovered the sump pump plug had been disconnected. This was fixed immediately. We respond when called.
Great Time, Super well equiped
Great Time, Super well equiped
We have rented this property many times over the years. Our family meets here at least once every two years. It exceeds our expectations, the family leaves all sorts of spices, films, entertainment vhs and more we don't ever see in other rentals. They say their goal is to exceed expectations... and they do. They just changed out lots of the furniture and continue to upgrade beds, art, etc. They seem to care about our stay and know how important it is to keep us happy, so we continue to come back. There is plenty for our children to do as well 0 they play pool and ping pong, watch movies and we even caught them reading and relaxing (only once). The neighborhood is quiet and our children always feel safe - no traffic! The lake is just beautiful.

Perfect glorious weather & really enjoyed our stay
We had a week of perfect glorious weather & really enjoyed our stay! The upstairs little deck is so special, like a treehouse! This is certainly one of the most well-equipped houses we've ever stayed in (or seen!) We even found the milk foamer for our latte's! Our teenagers really enjoyed all of the video's pool, & fishing off the dock. We had a fabulous meal at the Brazilian Grille, thanks for the tip! We highly recommend it. Thank you! ...The Learner - Rosenberg's.

About the owner: Suzi & I travel extensively visiting ruins & great capitals throughout the world, but we always love to come home to Cape Cod! We have collected art & artifacts from around the world, they make us appreciate how lucking we are to live in America. I'm from New York & Suzi grew up in greater Boston (yes it's the classic Yankee boy, meets Red Sox girl, falls madly in love despite this obvious character flaw... which has befallen our 2 grown children as well). Now much of our time is down south in greater Charlotte, NC (Translation: no snow, lower $$ energy, taxes & insurance) with a southern pace... however Charlotte has great theater & dining experiences & NASCAR (whatever that is). Also year round golf & the mountains are just a few hours away... The ocean on the other hand is 5 hours away... which we miss dearly. Our children grew up spending 3 days each week during the year living in this home & they always love being here. When any of us arrive here our New England friends always manage to drop in... it makes for a great time & lots of laughs! Our backgrounds are design, marketing & wound care. We develop point of injury medical devices & serious wound dressings to save lives... the work is its own reward & it has allowed us to give back to natural disasters world wide. Chances are you have bought the consumer products of the companies we have owned & operated. Hopefully you have never had to use our more serious medical devices. Suzanne reaches out to the theater & arts & it's reflected in the decor of our homes. When you stay in our home, we want you to feel at home & relaxed... it's our hope you will return year after year, as many of our guests often do.
Why the Owner Chose Mashpee:
When any of our extended family arrives... our home is already set-up to cook, play, hang out & relax. Living across the nation, when we show-up we don't want to spend time shopping for tea, coffee, paper towels, tissues & toilet paper, spices, oils, soaps, shampoo's & other basic supplies... we suspect you & your guests don't want to either. You'll have access to our 'basics', which our management team keeps well stocked. Suzi grew up across the lake & it makes her smile when we are here. We often get the entire family together in the fall or winter to spend holidays together... cooking in our gourmet kitchen (dishware for 16 & many hand crafted Cape Cod pottery pieces... Make it a point to drive up & down 6A... support our local artists! We often play games, or everyone's on laptops using the wireless internet...how times have changed! Each visit is a treasure we recall past years, make new memories & generally laugh a lot. When you are here... wake up early, grab a cup of coffee, go outside to our wine & coffee bar... a 4 foot tall fence to nowhere... gaze out as the sun rises above the cranberry bog, listen to the chirping birds, or wait until nightfall & listen as the frogs sing bass & the crickets form the background music... it's nature calling an end to the day... its relaxing with a few good friends... what more could one ask for. When your visit comes to an end, we will inquire about your stay & ask for suggestions as to what might add to your next visit... often these suggestions find their way into our continual improvements. For example the 3rd king size bed added in May 2013, along with a Queen, 4 doubles & 2 singles... in 6 private rooms, plus several couches... one is over 12+ feet with goose down cushions... we have countless pictures of friends crashing on the couch, waking up hours later after everyone else has gone to bed... its hysterical...but very comfortable! Vacation should be special, they create memories of our closest friends.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Having a second home can be very special. We have chosen to honor America's Native American Culture with art & artifacts we've collected across America, which are on display throughout our home. The art in our home reminds us of the many trips we have taken with our children throughout the past 33 years visiting ruins & culturally significant places. Visiting with family and close is usually wonderful, but at times the togetherness gets to be two much...The beauty of a bi-level property with many rooms is you can find a place to hide, in your bedroom with it's own TV, or a quiet seat on one of our several decks, or sprawled out on the dock communicating with the ducks...
