My wife and I spent our honeymoon at Ebb TIde. It was just perfect! A great setting right on Bass Harbor. The hosts were very warm, gracious and welcoming. A great location near Bass Harbor Light House and just a few minutes drive from Southwest Harbor. The property was very clean and well represented by the photos. We enjoyed sunsets from the adirondack chairs, fires in the family room and the soaking tub. We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

To say this wonderful house is perfect would be an understatement. Great layout; very private; everything necessary for a comfortable stay provided; spotlessly clean; spectacular views of Bass Harbor and the drama of the changing tides; gorgeous gardens; and a beautiful yard with lots of birds. And, . . . Shelley the owner, was always patient and helpful, making every effort to make sure our stay was just lovely without ever intruding. All in all, my spouse and I had a wonderfully romantic and restful stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I needed an emergency vacation; Ebb Tide had an emergency cancellation. The result was a relaxing, restorative week that could not have been better. The reviews are not exaggerated and the house is as beautiful and peaceful as you imagine when scrolling through the photo album. Shelley and Larry (and let us not omit Rudy) were very welcoming, helpful hosts who provided great information on the area while being ultra respectful of our privacy. The house is fully stocked -- they have thought of everything! Do I need to say that we did not want to leave?Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My husband, our Golden Retriever and I just returned from a week at Ebb Tide. If you read all of the other reviews about this wonderful place then I would just repeat all the great things said about it. Shelley and Larry are super people who made our stay comfortable and relaxing. The house, garden, and the water view were perfect. We came to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary and to tour Acadia National Park. We loved the house so much that the last day of our vacation we just stayed there and relaxed. The pictures are accurate but the real thing is even more impressive. I loved how every inch of space was used with taste and beauty. Our dog also enjoyed himself with Shelley and Larry's dog, Rudy.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was an incredible rental! It was like a little jewel. We wanted to experience Maine in a rural setting and this was so perfect. It was close to every possible attraction that Acadia National Park has to offer and more! We enjoyed the lovely surroundings of this home. The harbor was a stones throw away and was so quiet and peaceful. The hosts were very accommodating with all kinds of local information, including maps and brochures along with dining suggestions. There were sweet touches such as fresh flowers from the garden. Everything was very clean, with a well equipped kitchen and fabulous views....nothing was forgotten to make it comfortable and inviting. We look so forward to going back again someday!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I arrived on September 10,2011 for a two week holiday at this wonderful home in celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary. We did so appreciate the warm hospitality and cozy accommodations. Every effort was made by the owners to make a memorable holiday for us while still respecting our privacy. The house was every bit as welcoming as shown in the pictures with gorgeous views and amazing gardens. Located on the quiet side of the island is perfect. It is far enough away from the crowds but close enough to enjoy the wealth of activities available. Two weeks were not enough. We will for sure recommend this property to anyone headed to Maine.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I had the good fortune to spend two weeks at Ebb Tide this summer. When searching for a house online, we were looking for a beautiful setting--outdoors and in--as well as privacy. In other words, an ideal place for our summer idyll. Ebb Tide completely lived up to our expectations. The views are spectacular, the house beautifully furnished and comfortable, and the kitchen extremely well equipped. The owners could not have been more helpful and the gardens are to die for. We plan to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

This home was a wonderful place to stay at, with great views and a beautiful garden outside. We were able to kayak right from the yard that sloped down to the harbor/bay. The owners were happy to share their suggestions for places to eat and to walk our dog, as well as answer any questions we had. We would gladly stay there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing.

Very nice vacation property on a harbor. Appropriate for two adults looking for a few days of quiet from hustle and bustle of city life: landscaping on property is absolutely beautiful. Located close to Southwest Harbor (a picturesque village that boasts several nice restaurents in a not too touristy atmosphere.)Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay spanned September 25th through October 2nd. Ebb Tide was absolutely perfect for a couple looking for a romantic week away. We enjoyed the many amenities offered by the house as well as the beautiful grounds. The setting is absolutely perfect and the owners are the perfect helpful, but unobtrusive hosts. We highly recommend Ebb Tide.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Our desire in going to Maine for the first time was to enjoy the natural beauty of the coast and have some quiet time away. LIttle did we realize how much of that would be accomplished by simply staying at Ebb Tide! Our hardest decision was where to sit at any given time to take it all in. There are views everywhere, both indoors and out (even from the shower). Watching the stars at night through the skylight over the bed was incredibly soothing. Morning coffee was a delight as we watched the harbor activity and the ever changing tide. Sunset was the best! We always made sure to be back from our hikes or whatever we were doing to make sure we were in the chairs in time for sunset. Shelley and Larry were incredibly helpful and always available to answer any questions. We did not want to leave and are already planning for our net trip. What a treasure!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our recent stay at Ebb Tide was more than we had hoped for. We arrived just as Hurricane Earl was looming. Every contingency was prepared for in advance of our arrival. As luck would have it, Earl didn't cause any problems, but it was a plus that the friendly owners stay nearby. The house and gardens are wonderful! With memorable views from every window and spot in the garden, mornings were off to a slow start. It was so tempting to linger in this well-appointed house with every creature comfort. The setting is private and peaceful, but close enough to restaurants and shops in downtown Southwest Harbor. With plenty to do on the island, it was always a treat to come back at tea time, enjoy one of the many books on hand and watch the sunset glow. This rental is highly recommended. I'm already plotting a return trip.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Watch the tide ebb and flow from the landscaped gardens of this modern " cottage "on the water. Beautiful sunsets and spectacular weather in late August. Accommodation of a high standard and exactly as described on listing .Helpful and friendly local owners on hand in nearby property to assist if needed and offer advice on places to visit on Mount Dessert Island. Perfect spot for exploring Acadia National Park and surrounding area. Great golf club "The Causeway" a couple of miles away or take your bikes and cycle to the Bass Harbor light. Wonderful first visit to Maine , would stay again.Recommended for: Sightseeing

The property looks like the photo but better, a superb garden, a feng sui house setting facing the tidal basin and garden and a truly ultramodern [circa 1985] house with all the conveniences and supplied superbly. Inside the windows dominate the house so light is all over. The bathroom upstairs off the one bedroom besides the excellent sink and commode provides a shower and Japanese soaking tub set against a 10 foot window revealing both the inlet and the woods nearby. You are at once given privacy and feel outside. The basic floor plan downstairs is one open space. From modern Kitchen descend 2 steps to the dining space [and main entrance to the house] with a large glass table with 4 comfortable chairs and then 2 more steps down to the well appointed living room. The stairs going upstairs do need a banister. The property is at least 50 feet down from the car park and poorly lit. They supply flashlights and are putting in electric lights for the steps are granite and the path winds in beauty but needs more lighting. The property is well maintained and the owner is not intrusive but nearby ready to help with any question. The garden veranda needs to be sprayed constantly for the Maine mosquitos do visit you outside. I should highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a wonderful retreat. But one must have good legs to climb up and down house stairs and granite steps to the car park. It is made for vigorous people comfortable with staircases and pathways of gravel and uneven steps. Besides the Acadia National Park nearby, Bass Harbor is 2 minutes away with 2 good down home style lobster restaurants and Rich's ultra fresh Seafood for sale. 7 minutes away is Southwest Harbor with Sawyer's Grocery, outstanding! and a host of very good restaurants too and of different pricing. Bar Harbor is 30 minutes away and it takes about the same to reach the Jordan Pond restaurant with its famous popovers in Acadia National Park. .The property is perfectly set back from the main road but very convenient to drive right out to it. The owner's house is next to the car park so they are easily reached. There is no phone in the house so bring your own cell phone. Once you are on the property, the perfume of the flowers and the salty smell of the sea surround you; then you know, you are inside your own Shangri-La.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, Seth, for your kind comments. We have upgraded the path lighting and flashlights are no longer necessary.

EBB Tide is located in a quiet working harbor on the back side of the island. It is perfect for low tide beach combing! One of our favorite features during our stay was the speaker system wired throughout the home. One can sit, enjoy the view and the breeze - while listening to your favorite tunes. Plus, there are several bird feeders which were constantly visited during our stay, which really appealed to my husband, a bird enthusiast. It is a truly comfortable place that will inspire you to relax and allow one to rejuvenate. It provides linens, towels, all kitchen applicances and necessities - it has everything you could imagine and more. It is special beginning with the path to the home through the gardens and continues as you open the front door to see the walls of windows to observe the most amazing Bass Harbor sunsets. The seawall as well as several Acadia hikes are just right down the road. This is a must stay, one which will remain with me, until I come again next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
