Bisbee cabin description
The Sleepy Dog Guest House is a one bedroom, artist owned, restored miner's cabin perched high in the hills above Historic Old Bisbee. Sitting on an acre of land, it is incredibly private and quiet--with no neighbors and no noise-- yet we are close enough to town that it's an easy stroll to great restaurants, shopping, sight seeing and antiquing. The Sleepy Dog's memorable atmosphere is regionally eclectic and features folk and contemporary art. The 850sf house features a sitting area, dining room, bedroom, and full, working kitchen. We supply simple makin's for breakfast (self catering) in the morning including coffee, teas, eggs, and bread. The pantry is also stocked with basic spices.
Our guests rave about the incredibly comfortable king sized bed, the well appointed linens, feather bedding and the clawfoot bath tub--great for a long, hot soak--and the stunning views of town and the Mexican mountains in the distance. The views from the house are without a doubt the best that Bisbee has to offer. We also have our own private viewing point out the back gate and up a short trail where you can enjoy coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening and watch the town unfold in front of you. It's a fun little spot unique to the Sleepy Dog. Our guests are welcome to use all of the sitting areas, porches, both front and back. The overall setting is welcoming and private and is a convenient walk to Old Bisbee
A television (with satellite reception, DVD/VCR player and a collection of over one hundred movies) is available for down time relaxing. Wi-Fi is available, however there is no telephone. Verizon and Sprint cell services are most reliable in this area. We also offer an iPod dock and a three piece speaker system should you be inclined to plug it into your laptop.
The Sleepy Dog is the quintessential Bisbee lodging experience with hiking right out side the front door, amazing star gazing because of the clean, high altitude air, bird watching, and, of course, the house itself. The bird watching is superb! Guests have seen over 30 species of birds ranging from sandhill cranes (10 miles away at their winter home), woodpeckers, roadrunners, goldfinches, vermillion flycatchers, lazlu buntings, towhees, juncos, owls, bluebirds to violet crowned, lucifer and ruby throated hummingbirds.
Bisbee is a quirky little town and so is the Sleepy Dog--very colorful, filled with original art, kitschy collections and a unique blend of comfort, one of a kind decor, and amenities that bring our guests back time and time again. So, if you're looking for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation and an escape from reality for a bit there's only one place to stay, and that's the Sleepy Dog!

Great weekend getaway
Great weekend getaway
We had a great time in Bisbee at The Sleepy Dog Guest House. Tad, the owner, is a gracious host who made sure we were comfortable. The property is lovely (very fun decor) and cozy and has a beautiful view of the town and the surrounding mountains from the living room and the backyard deck. Highly recommend The Sleepy Dog for a romantic weekend getaway!

My Dog Tonka and I enjoyed this guest house some years back. Perfect little get-away for us. Although Tonka can no longer 'do stairs'.... I hope to return once day.

About the owner: Tad Cheyenne Miller is a watercolor painter, lover of dogs, world traveler and a woman who loves road trips, new experiences and meeting people. She has lived in Bisbee for sixteen years.
Why the Owner Chose Bisbee:
The Sleepy Dog Guest House has a fantastic location in Bisbee--it's on the edge of town yet close enough where a car is not necessary. The house's orientation to the sun means warm, sunny days in the winter which is a real plus for snow birds visiting the area. The layout of the house is convenient and comfortable, small enough to be cozy yet large enough not to feel cramped, and the two porches add great el fresco opportunities.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Waking up to the sound of birds, the morning sunshine, the view of town, the comfort of an old house, the clawfoot tub, and the rockers on the porch are the best things about the Sleepy Dog. There's also a private little table and chair arrangement on our special viewing point which is a one minute walk out the back gate.
