My parents bought this property in the early 60's: They were both teachers and had summer vacation free to live in Maine. As a result I vacationed and summered in the area for my whole child-life. I held jobs in the blueberry business both raking and on a farm receiving and transfer station. I grew to appreciate the abundant wildlife and natural beauty that this site and the surrounding area had to offer. I learned that Acadia National Park is the only National Park in the North East. By day, if it wasn't blueberry season yet, I swam in the lake, read (you'll have internet), hiked or biked down the dirt road or just generally communed with nature. The Owls, Loons and Cicadas are a nightly symphony.

Now I bring the kids back to do the same. They love to wander on the dirt road, swim, kayak, play ping pong, air-hockey and basketball, and have the nightly campfire and s'mores. All on a quiet and private 4-acre lake-front site.

It is a great location with easy access to Ellsworth, Bangor (I-95), Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Goldman's home in Eastbrook. The house was very well accomdated and supplied and is very child friendly. My toddler had a blast there with all of the games and fun things to do outdoors. Mitch was very easy to communicate with and the entire reservation process was very simple. He also provided me with lots of great informaiton to make the most of our stay. Thanks for a great vacation!

Great house for all seasons! Quiet, serene & away from it all. Being from NYC this was a welcome change for all of us. It felt like we had a better chance of seeing a bear than people! Secluded yet close enough to town & other activities- like Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor. This year we rented in the Spring which was perfect weather for our hiking & biking adventures in Acadia. Last year we rented in mid August, at the height of blueberry season & perfect for feasting on blueberries. Both were great fun for young & old alike. Both times, from the moment you step out of the car & into the driveway you can smell the pine/fir trees all around. Mmmm...nature at its best! Across the road is a huge blueberry field. The birds are chirping & the chipmunks are scurrying about. Down the path is the pond, alive with sounds of ducks, loons, frogs & various other wildlife. We’ve even seen an adult & a baby Bald Eagle & a Great Blue Heron! The house was clean, new & spacious enough that our boys claimed the upstairs & we claimed the master bedroom on the main floor. Our toddler daughter slept in a child size futon in the bedroom with us. On the kitchen table, the Goldman’s left a House Book, welcoming us with a wealth of info about the nearby area, dining & events that we found very helpful. They also left current newspapers & other guides that made planning our day trips easier. Loved the PC connected to the internet, preloaded with helpful shortcuts to Maine links & guides! We swam in the pond, kayaked in the early morning when the mist was still coming up off the water, played ping pong, darts & air hockey, did arts & crafts & played with the dollhouse on the screened in porch, swayed in the hammock, barbecued, took walks down the road to the little sand beach & watched the dragonflies follow us down the path, roasted marshmallows, made s'mores & ate blueberries. On rainy days we played games & puzzles. The house also had wireless broad band internet so we could watch TV/movies. It was a great escape from the everyday craziness & never ending chores. Time seemed to slow down for a while when we were here. Springtime offered us very little traffic & congestion. It was like having the road & sites all to ourselves. Summertime especially mid-August was great too because of all the blueberries & pancake breakfasts! Next time we’ll rent in the fall. I can only imagine how beautiful the pond & countryside will look with the foliage ablaze with color!

We had a wonderful time this year with 2 of my 3 daughters, 2 of 4 grandchildren, 1 nephew, 1 son-in-law and a girlfriend. The ability to bring pets the first week was much appreciated. You will find a few extra frisbees left behind to replace the one our dog chewed. The dog had a ball learning to swim in the pond. The fishing was great. My men and granddaughters caught a 5 gal pail full of white perch. The men cleaned them (not my job) had 1 fishfry and froze the rest to take home. After that it was catch & release only. 2 bathrooms, washer, dryer, and dishwasher means I get more time to go kayaking (What a plus). We brought a 6 foot folding table to set up on the screened-in porch and had many relaxing meals, card games and puzzle sessions. As you have no closets, I bought an inexpensive clothes rack.. I left it in the upstairs bunk room. Thanks again, Coleen in CT

Our family arrived at this lovely vacation home in Eastbrook, ME to find a clean, comfortable, child-friendly haven of rest. It is situated just steps from a calm and serene pond (more like a lake) where our family enjoyed spending time conversing, watching ducks, and having personal devotions. The owners (the Goldman family) provided us with excellent service and all the amenities that we needed to feel at home. There are also several nearby shopping centers in Ellsworth where we were able to purchase food, clothing, and souvenirs and a wonderful place to attend church (Franklin Baptist Church) only a few miles away. Acadia National Park is also a short drive (less than an hour) away and a wonderful place to enjoy nature. All in all - a great place to stay to visit beautiful Maine!

Want the best of two worlds? This Abrams Pond cottage offers a slice of solitude as well as the possibility of numerous activities. Positioned recreationally, this cottage offers enough to keep you entertained on-site, but provides easy access to tourist activities such as those featured at Acadia National Park. We liked the sense of remoteness and privacy. Neighboring cottages are not readily visible from this ample 4-acre treed lot. The “pond” about 100 feet from the cottage is more like a small lake by our New York State standards. Because there was very limited boat traffic, we were able to enjoy the quietude of this waterfront property. We explored the pond using the double kayak. Each day loons and ducks swam near the cottage’s dock, and we even saw osprey and an eagle. Our dog enjoyed a swim every day, and we checked out the nearby blueberry fields when we took her on a daily walk. Other outdoor activities such as roasting marshmallows in the fire pit, barbecuing on the grill, and swinging in the hammock rounded out our time at the cottage. Besides giving us the opportunity to feel close to nature, this cottage offered us a range of amenities including a well-equipped kitchen complete with new appliances. There’s computer access and games such as ping-pong and darts. This cottage suited the two of us as well as our dog, and because it is spacious, a party of 8 would be quite comfortable here, too. We wish that some of our friends could have joined us for the week! The cottage’s deck, porch and numerous windows overlooking the pond, created an intimacy with nature for us. The small city of Ellsworth is just 20 minutes away with major shopping and restaurant options. Closer to home, just a short distance away is a small store that makes a tasty steak and cheese sub. The owner was accommodating, providing us with quick responses to our questions and additional information to make our stay special. It is obvious that he loves his place and is eager to share this Down East experience. Overall, we would rate this cottage highly and consider it an excellent value.

What can I say that is negative about the Goldman Vacation house? Absolutely nothing! I recently spent the most peaceful week in that lovely lakeside house in the Maine woods with my sister, my daughter and her two young children. Jeremy (3yrs old) got to fish off of their dock, catch frogs on the shore and swim in the clean clear water. Kaylie (18 mo. old) found Michelle's daughter's Fisher Price doll house about five minutes after we unpacked and ended up spending hours quietly playing with her little people in that house. This vacation house is totally child proof, with protective gates on both staircases. With beautiful front doors, which open onto the front screened in porch, the grandchildren had plenty of room to safely play. Both mornings and evenings the call of the Loons on the lake remind you of the peace and solitude of the surroundings. Sit on the deck over looking the beautiful landscape and quietly read a book. Pull out the hammock and rock while looking up to tall trees swaying in the breeze. At sunset build a fire using plentiful firewood from the property - stare into the flames wishing you never had to go back to reality. Have I mentioned the Jacuzzi bathtub in the master bathroom...I could go on forever, but I think saying I will definitely go back again, says it all. Rent this house!! Enjoy the Goldman's blessing!!
