Don't even know where to begin, but would encourage anyone considering the PRIVILEGE of renting this amazing home, to read all of the reviews. We agree with every single one. We have been fortunate enough to stay in some fabulous places over the past 20 years...Carmel Valley, CA, Thousand Islands, Canada, Long Beach California (on a B&B that was a yacht), North Captiva Island, FL, Snead Island, FL, Sanibel Island, FL, Luray, Virginia, Canandaigua NY, St. Thomas Virgin Islands, Montreal, Toronto, Estes Park Colorado, New York City, Chicago, Puerto Rico, Lake Charles Louisianna, Annapolis MD, New Haven CT, Plum Island Mass, etc...with at least 2 of our "kids"(our dogs) and we've NEVER, EVER been treated as royally as, the owner, KIM, has treated us. Someone else said, Kim, who lives in Virginia, is ALWAYS available to help make your stay as stress free as possible. The home is "beyond beautiful"...it is breathtaking...doesn't matter what time of day or night you are there...just before sunrise is incredible....sunrise, watching the clouds disappear, the small streaks of sun spraying their rays over certain trees and certain parts of the lake, are treasures we will never forget...the fresh smell in the air...the honor of watching the hummingbirds feed only feet from where you are is hard to describe...we, too made "S'mores'...OMG, hadn't had them since I was a girl scout....100 years ago, it seems. Also want to mention the thoughtfulness of the Owners to make telephone and wi-fi service available at no cost....even encourages using the free long distance services. WOW! Want to mention cell phone service in the Watauga Lake area...AT&T does not work up there, but, I'm told Verizon works fairly well. Kim provides access to free wi-fy so you can send and receive emails and browse the Internet. Sirius XM music channels and tons of TV stations also there at the click of the remote... Washer and dryer is a HUGE plus...Dishwasher is the quietest I've ever NOT heard..There's even a Lobster Pot. Final comments..I wasn't bragging about all the places we've been...most of those have been because we have top show dogs that we show personally...which involves much travel, money and pet friendly places. Doesn't get any better than the TREE HOUSE! We loved it so much we put a deposit on a lot. We are an average couple, (husband is auto tech) but this vacation has shown us where we want to spend the rest of our lives. THANK YOU KIM!

Owner response: You are most welcome! Such kind words, from guests who had so much rain during a 9 night stay, that they were unable to get out on the boat once. The lake was 12-15 feet above its normal level and there was much flooding. Fortunately, it is an area, that, despite the weather, is almost magical in its beauty. We will look forward to having you as neighbors one day!!

We loved the Treehouse! The house was perfect for our needs and we loved all the unique features. Kim was great about answering all my questions and was very accommodating. We are already talking about doing it again next year!

A few friends and I stayed at the cabin for a pre-wedding getaway. My only regret is not to stay longer. The cabin is even more beautiful than the pictures. A cherry tree bloomed in front of the porch swing, and we cooked some wonderful meals. Kim the owner gave us some good tips on nearby activities. We didn't bring children, but the layout looks good for that, as there are two nice bedrooms on the lower level, and a large room/loft with 3 beds on top level. Enjoy your trip!

This is a beautiful mountain home with great views of the mountain and lake. Very peaceful with great light. The home is very comfortable with space for togetherness as well as privacy.

We decided to rent a cabin for Thanksgiving this year. Family came from Texas and we a total of 5 people. The cabin was excellent! Clean, comfortable, well-stocked and everything was taken care of to the inth degree! The owner was available via email and phone at all times and answered all my questions quickly and efficiently. With two master bedrooms downstairs and a roomy loft upstairs where the kids stayed, it was a nice and quiet atmosphere. The views of the lake and mountains were great and we only had a 3 minute walk to the pontoon boat. I would HIGHLY recommend this cabin as a nice and quiet getaway for a family of 5 or 6. Will be staying there again soon :) The only thing I could recommend is to bring your own paper products (e.g. paper towels and toilet paper). Other than that, everything else was available!

WOW, not sure words can fully describe the ambiance of this lovely home overlooking the most pristine lake I've ever seen. If I could compare this lake to any, it would have to be Lake Tahoe, only a smaller version. And the Tree House - this cabin has every creature comfort anyone could want, and it is decorated exquisitely. Both Kim and Bill are flexible and charming, but mostly they are gracious hosts. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed using the pontoon boat and had the time of our lives just cruising around this beautiful lake - we will be returning again and again! Thank you so much for allowing us to share your Tree House!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful house. Everything was better than your description. The house was very clean and well maintained. Smores cooked outside in the firepit was a nightly happening!! Make sure to rent the pontoon boat. The lake is incredible and so clean. We spent a day shopping in Boone and another day riding bicycles on the Virginia Creeper. My family has asked to vacation here again next year!! Again, thanks for everything.

About the owner: For years, my husband and I have been looking for a 4-season place to get 'out of the rat race'. We love the outdoors, and wanted a place to do it all-hike, boat, snow ski, fish, golf, horseback ride....and relax. This past Fall, we finally discovered Watauga Lake and The Tree House. It is one of the most beautiful, peaceful places we have seen. We immediately fell in love with it and hope you will too!
