Welcome to beautiful Endless Views on Edisto Island! Relax on forty acres of private waterfront property: a one-of-a-kind experience! Located on a peninsula between two large waterways that connect to the intracoastal waterway, this property enjoys fresh breezes, gorgeous sunrises, and an endless view over miles of marsh grasses, with sailboats in the distance along the Intracoastal Waterway. Endless Views is one of only two houses on the property, you will feel very secluded once you pass the electric gate on the private road and enter the property and thousands of acres of wetlands that surround it. It is 100 yards along the marshfront to the deepwater dock, boat ramp, and great fishing. You will love this beautiful, isolated, and natural location.
This property offers more than a typical beach vacation. Explore land and sea using the property’s bikes and two fishing kayaks (life jackets provided). Take leisurely walks down country roads and forest paths. Immerse yourself in the unique nature and beauty of the Low Country's rich tidal creeks and marshes. By car, you can explore Edisto Island's historic churches and plantations, state parks, and unique activities such as the Edisto Island Serpentarium (open April-October), Bingo Nights at the Lions Club (summer only), strawberry and blueberry picking (May to early July). Edisto Beach State Park and Botany Bay Plantation beach are a short drive down Hwy. 174. Enjoy a day at the beach and then come home the the beautiful endless views. While at the beach, we recommend the SeaCow Eatery for a casual meal. Visit Edisto’s 4,360-acre Botany Bay Plantation. Kings Market, a few miles up Hwy. 174, sells wonderful produce and boiled peanuts (in season). Enjoy Low Country barbeque at Po’ Pigs BBQ on Hwy. 174. Buy fresh shrimp and fish at Flowers Seafood, or other local seafood stores. Via motorboat, you can take a 20-30 minute trip to remote beaches such as Deveaux Bank at the mouth of the Edisto River, or eat lunch at Bohicket Marina on Seabrook Island. There is an excellent golf course at the end of Edisto Island, in the Wyndham Resort. Take advantage of local attractions include kayak tours, fishing guides, and shrimp boat charters. Further afield, explore the ACE Basin, Cypress Gardens, Middleton Place and Magnolia Plantation, and of course, the beautiful town of Charleston.
Often, our guests plan to visit the many attractions on and around Edisto Island, but they’re so relaxed that they rarely leave the property! After a walk or bike ride down the private dirt road (we provide bikes and a golf cart), or a serene kayak along the creeks, you’ll be content to hang out on the porch, in shade or sun, with a cool glass of iced tea and a good book. Anglers can catch a variety of fish right off our dock, or take your boat or use the two fishing kayaks (that come with the house) to enjoy some of the finest fishing on Edisto Island. We have had success with shrimp, minnows and pink and white jigs (although fishing varies by season and tides), and you can use a minnow trap or shrimp net to catch live bait.
Bird watching and the sounds of nature are captivating on SanRuss Point: birds flying over wetlands that stretch as far as the eye can see; dolphins swimming in the creeks; bald eagles, woodstorks (in spring), and woodpeckers, as well as a countless number of water birds. Enjoy catching crabs of the dock (crabs can be caught all year round although some seasons are better than others) - you are welcome to use our crab traps or simply a string and weight. Guests are welcome to use the property’s golf cart for exploration of the property (please drive calmly and carefully, to avoid divots in the dirt road and open grass) and to carry items to and from the boat dock. If you need something, just call us or the property’s handyman and generally we can attend to your needs right away.
Year Purchased: 1962
About the owner: My uncle bought this property in 1962 and we feel it is one of the most beautiful piece of property on Edisto Island! It is on a peninsula in a protected area. This give miles of undisturbed land surrounding the house. If you walk a mile up the dirt road you only see a few houses - instead you see lots of wildlife. As I write this, there are Wood Storks walking near the house and I can see miles out over the wetlands. The house is on a part of Edisto called Little Edisto Island, on the end of Russell Creek road, between Russell and Sand Creek.
About 100 yards down the dirt road from the house that we are renting, you will find the main house where my husband and I live with our two older friendly dogs. All around our 40 acre property there are protected areas - the picture to the right is my mother kayaking with her Springer Spaniel. We love sharing our beautiful place with people that want to stay somewhere really special.
Why the Owner Chose Edisto Island: Our property is 40 acres that juts out between two large waterways that go out to the intercostal waterway (Russell and Sand Creeks). There are miles of salt water estuary bordering the property. It is a very special place that has so much natural beauty that you may just want to take walks on the property! We just upgraded our dock so it is fun to go down and fish, crab or just watch for dolphins that frequent the creek.
The Unique Benefits at this House: Edisto Island has thousands of acres of preserved land. There is a large state park which offers hikes down the beach or bike rides down trails that go over wooden bike bridges.
One can picnic at the State Park after swimming in the surf and showering. We drive to beach or take our motor boat to some of the small uninhabited barrier islands that are at the mouth of the Intracoastal Waterway and then the ocean (you should have a 4' chain on your anchor if you go to the barrier islands).
We like to go strawberry picking in late May/early June and blueberry picking in June/early July. It is possible to buy fresh vegetables about five miles down edisto's only two lane highway. There are some fun restaurants on the island but we prefer buy or catch fresh seafood and vegetables and cook our own dinner! There is excellent golf course on the Island and miles of preserved beachfront. We like to crab off of our dock, fish in the creeks and ocean for bass, trout and flounder. We enjoy the many wonderful birds that visit and live on the property including many endangered species.
Charleston is a wonderful city/town with a rich heritage and great shopping. There are some fantastic restaurants.
One great thing about our property is there are nice breezes which makes it pleasant during the hot times of the year. The raised porches, short grass, the hundreds of Martins that come in the spring, as well as, the fact that you are on a peninsula, make it less buggy than most houses on the island. Edisto is such a beautiful place...if you like nature, beautiful coastline settings you will be in heaven!
We allow dogs with dog fee for extra cleaning.
