Property description

Welcome to beautiful Endless Views on Edisto Island! Relax on forty acres of private waterfront property: a one-of-a-kind experience! As they say: location, location, location! Located two miles out on a peninsula between Sand Creek and Russell Creek, this property enjoys open water and wonderful breezes not found inland. Better than a typical beach vacation, our guest house provides access to the unique nature and beauty of the Low Country’s rich tidal creeks and marshes, as well as easy access by car to Edisto Island’s historic landmarks, State Parks and local sites. Located two miles down a small road off of highway 174 that ends at our private gate. The property forms a peninsula between two large waterways (Russell and Sand Creeks) that flow into the intracoastal waterway and then into the ocean. You will enjoy endless views across open water during very high tides and miles of salt water marsh and open water during lower tides. This property enjoys fresh breezes, gorgeous sunrises, and privacy because there are only two houses on the 40 acre property. From the Endless Views rental house, walk or take the golf cart about a 100 yards, across the grass, to our private deepwater dock which has 7’ of water at low tide and a boat ramp.

Explore land and sea using the property’s bikes and the creeks using the one 2-person kayak or the two 1-person fishing kayaks or your own boat (life jackets are provided). Take leisurely walks down country roads and forest paths. Immerse yourself in the unique nature and beauty of the Low Country's rich tidal creeks and marshes. Often, our guests plan to visit the many attractions on and around Edisto Island, but they’re so relaxed that they rarely leave the property! After a walk or bike ride down the private dirt road (we provide bikes and a golf cart) or a serene kayak along the creeks on one of the three kayaks provided, you’ll be content to hang out on the porch with a cool glass of iced tea and a good book.

Our guest house is unique in that is made up of three pods, connected by decks. The master suite contains a king sized bed, bath and laundry room. The two bedroom suite has two double beds in one room and a king in the other with a shared bath. The living area includes a screened porch, kitchen, eating area, fireplace, two couches (one sleeper) and large deck facing the marsh. The hot tub is located on the back deck but enjoys views of the water and there is an enclosed shower downstairs. Owners live on the property far enough away for complete privacy but close enough to help out if needed.

Catch a variety of fish right off our dock, or take your boat or one of the two fishing kayaks to enjoy some of the finest fishing on Edisto Island (feel free to ask Harry our friendly 70 year old handyman about various fishing possibilities). Enjoy catching blue crabs off the dock (crabs can be caught all year round although some seasons are better than others). We provide the crab traps and you provide the chicken or fish for bait. Fish can be caught in the creeks with frozen or live shrimp, live minnows (if you need a minnow trap just ask us). You may also want to try fishing the ocean inlets at Botany Bay plantation or Botany Bay’s large brackish lake during outgoing tide. Some people also like to fish at the dock at the state park which located to the right of highway 174.

Bird watching and the sounds of nature are captivating on Endless Views: birds flying over wetlands; dolphins swim in the creeks. We see many pelicans, marsh hens, various kinds of pipers, blue herrings, wood peckers, swallows, blue birds and even an occasional bald eagle or wood stork. Exploring the property with the golf cart or by foot. If you need something, just call us or the property’s handyman (who is on the property most weekday mornings) and generally we can attend to your needs right away.

By car, you can explore Edisto Island's historic churches and plantations, state parks, and unique activities such as the Edisto Island Serpentarium (open April-October), Bingo Nights at the Lions Club (summer only), strawberry and blueberry picking (May to early July). If you can come in the fall and enjoy some of the best weather, as well as, shrimping and fishing. Edisto Beach State Park and Botany Bay Plantation beach are 15 to 20 minutes down the scenic Hwy. 174. Enjoy a day at the beach and then come home the the beautiful endless views. While at the beach, we recommend the SeaCow Eatery or Whaley's for a casual lunch (or do as we often do by grilling out at the state park's picnic area). Edisto’s 4,360-acre Botany Bay Plantation is wonderful (at low tide you can even bring bikes if you are adventurous). Kings Market, a few miles up Hwy. 174, sells local produce and boiled peanuts (in season). Enjoy Low Country barbecue at Po’ Pigs BBQ on Hwy. 174 or go to Flower's Seafood, which is just down highway 174, and eat prepared seafood right on their picnic tables! If you have time, do not forget to visit Charleston which is 45 minutes away!

Via motorboat, you can take a 20-30 minute trip to remote beaches such as Deveaux Bank at the mouth of the Edisto River, or eat lunch at Bohicket Marina on Seabrook Island (by some shrimp on the way!). There is an excellent golf course at the end of Edisto Island, in the Wyndham Resort (and a second course that is 30 minutes away at Stono Ferry). Take advantage of local attractions include kayak tours, fishing guides, and shrimp boat charters. Further afield, explore the ACE Basin, Cypress Gardens, Middleton Place and Magnolia Plantation, and of course, the beautiful town of Charleston.

History of Endless Views

Endless Views has often been described as one of the most beautiful pieces of property on Edisto Island. The property was part of a Lord Proprietor's grant in 1710 from the King of England and was called the Ash Plantation. It is a unique area because it is on the end of Little Edisto Island which is surrounded Sand Creek and Russell Creek.

Location Advantages

When you turn off of highway 174 to go to Endless Views, you will go down a small road for two mile road. The second mile of road only has around five houses which are often far away from the road. You will know you are getting close to Endless Views when you get to a causeway over a waterway and come to our electric gate which you can open with a code. You will have a great sense of privacy when you get on the property.

Since the Endless Views house is located on the end of the peninsula it gets great breezes. We keep the grass cut weekly so this means less bugs around the house than you would find in a more wooded areas. The lack of any paved surfaces on the property make it feel cooler than the paved or sandy areas such as the beach.

House Design

The house was designed to offer privacy when a group of people are together. The house is built on a porch and consists of three pods. The main living pod has the living room (that has a two coaches (one with a foldout bed), the are also chairs, tables, a television with Direct TV and a fireplace. The kitchen is next to the living room and is divided from the dinning area by a large island with chairs. The main living room opens up to a screened porch with a gas grill and small table and the dinning area opens up to a open porch.

The master bedroom pod has a kingsized bed, a private screened porch, a laundry room and bathroom with bathtub and shower. The third pod has two bedrooms, one with two queen sized beds and a second bedroom with a single kingsized bed. These two bedrooms share a screened porch and bathroom with bathtub and shower.

Exploring the Waterways

There are many ways to explore the waterways. My children enjoy exploring on foot by walking on the sand flats to parading around hundreds of fiddler crabs near the water. It is a great way for them to experience nature by interacting with it. For adults, kayaks can be great way to explore the small inlets that go off of Russell and Sand Creeks. You will see all kinds of birds and animals in the salt water marshes. Via motorboat, you can take a 20-30 minute trip to remote beaches such as Deveaux Bank at the mouth of the Edisto River, or eat lunch at Bohicket Marina on Seabrook Island (by some shrimp on the way!). Many guest prefer to just relax on the deepwater dock.

Exploring the wider area

Take advantage of local attractions include kayak tours, fishing guides, and shrimp boat charters. Further afield, explore the ACE Basin, Cypress Gardens, Middleton Place and Magnolia Plantation, and of course, the beautiful town of Charleston.

Golf Courses

There is an excellent golf course at the end of Edisto Island, in the Wyndham Resort (and a second course that is 30 minutes away at Stono Ferry).

Owner info

Year Purchased: 1962

About the owner: My uncle bought this property in 1962 and we feel it is one of the most beautiful piece of property on Edisto Island! It is on a peninsula in a protected area. This give miles of undisturbed land surrounding the house. If you walk a mile up the dirt road you only see a few houses - instead you see lots of wildlife. As I write this, there are Wood Storks walking in a puddle near the road, when I look the other way I can see miles of salt water wetlands. The house is on a part of Edisto called Little Edisto Island, on the end of Russell Creek road, between Russell and Sand Creek. About 100 yards down the dirt road from the Endless Views rental house, you will find the main house where my father lives with his two older friendly dogs. All around our 40 acre property there are protected areas - the picture to the right is kayaking at high tide with her Springer Spaniel. We love sharing our beautiful place with people that want to stay somewhere really special.

Why the Owner Chose Edisto Island:
Our property consists of 40 acres that juts out between two large waterways that go out to the intercostal waterway (Russell and Sand Creeks). There are miles of salt water estuary bordering the property. It is a very special place that has so much natural beauty that you may just want to take walks on the property! We just upgraded our dock so it is fun to go down and fish, crab or just watch for dolphins that frequent the creek.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Edisto Island has thousands of acres of preserved land, including miles of beaches. In fact over half the island is under conservation easement or protected by the state and federal government. There is a large state park which offers hikes down the beach or bike rides down trails that go over wooden bike bridges through the woods. One can picnic at the State Park after swimming in the surf and showering. We drive to beach or take our motor boat to some of the small uninhabited barrier islands that are at the mouth of the Intracoastal Waterway and then the ocean (you should have a 4' chain on your anchor if you go to the barrier islands). We like to go strawberry picking in late May/early June and blueberry picking in June/early July. It is possible to buy fresh vegetables about five miles down edisto's only two lane highway. There are some fun restaurants on the island but we prefer buy or catch fresh seafood and vegetables and cook our own dinner! There is excellent golf course on the Island and miles of preserved beachfront. We like to crab off of our dock, fish in the creeks and ocean for bass, trout and flounder. We enjoy the many wonderful birds that visit and live on the property including many endangered species. Charleston is a wonderful city/town with a rich heritage and great shopping. There are some fantastic restaurants. One great thing about our property is there are nice breezes which makes it pleasant during the hot times of the year. The raised porches, short grass, the hundreds of Martins that come in the spring, as well as, the fact that you are on a peninsula, make it less buggy than most houses on the island. Edisto is such a beautiful place...if you like nature, beautiful coastline settings you will be in heaven! We allow dogs with dog fee for extra cleaning.
