Our spacious two bedroom two bath home is empty. We are a married couple with two homes, one in Berkeley, and this one, in Santa Cruz. It is for rent on a short term basis when we aren't there.
This is not a beach party house. It’s a fully furnished and equipped family home – it is our home, not a “vacation rental.” The house has just about everything you’d want, from a 42” flat screen TV to a gas grill on the patio. We have fine china and crystal (Royal Doulton, Waterford, Lenox). The kitchen is large, bright, and airy. The round kitchen table will easily seat four and it is right by a sliding glass door that leads to the side yard. The cherry dining table easily seats six. There is a 2nd flat screen TV in one of the bedrooms, along with a DVD player. There’s a blue ray player in the living room. There is even a 20” iMac computer in one of the bedrooms which is connected to an Epson ink jet printer which can produce a sparkling 13” x 19” print. Of course there is wireless internet access in the house.
The location is ideal. It’s minutes off the freeway and a short walk to the beach. You can walk to stores, restaurants, a bookstore, a video store, and a movie theatre very easily. The post office is a 5 minute drive away.
Nearby attractions include the towns of Monterey and Carmel which are less than an hour away by car, the Big Sur coast, just another half hour down the road. San Francisco is an easy hour and a half drive away. The University of California Santa Cruz is close by as well. There are a number of state parks in close proximity, including Henry Cowell Redwood Park and Nisene Marks State Park.
Our climate is nearly perfect; it almost never freezes, there is no snow, and in the summer the highs are seldom above 80 degrees. No one has air conditioning. It’s cool and dry in the summer; the winter is our rainy season but even in the winter we have many glorious 70 degree sunny days.
Our home would provide a base for a vacation any time of the year. You could explore the area or just enjoy relaxing in the house. It would be ideal for families visiting children who attend Cabrillo College or the University of California Santa Cruz.
We, the owners, live part time in this house, part time in Berkeley. The husband is a physician who practices in Berkeley. The wife is an insurance agent. Our children are grown. We also rent our Berkeley house when we are in the Santa Cruz area. We have been renting that house from time to time since July 2009 and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We have met really nice people. We hope to meet you too. We’ll be glad to share information about Northern California with you and introduce you to our fine hometown.

Please note this is not a party house. It is most suitable for a mature couple, a young family, or a mature couple with children. Two couples would also be okay. Each bedroom has a queen size bed. There is also a queen size sofa bed in the living room.

This is a great house in the Santa Cruz area. Clean and well-appointed. Wonderful little touches like having bread, cheese, and a bottle of wine for us on our arrival as well as some basics for breakfast. Would definitely stay again if I travel to this area. Margarita was a pleasure to work with.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
