We have been renting homes on the Chain of Lakes for several years now and this has been our best experience so far. When the owners advertises, "All you need is food and clothes to enjoy the amenities that our property has to offer, " she isn't kidding. The house has everything you need, and if it isn't there, you dont't need. This house is a wonderful place to vacation, and we spent a week there, and wished we could have stayed longer. We were blessed with perfect weather and spent alot of time on the water. There was more room that we could ever hope for and the house was in immaculate condition, clean, neat and well organized. The view of the lake at sunset was absolutely stunning, and the front, "Sun room," afforded my guests a comfortable option of watching the nightly sunsets over Pistakee Lake. The huge pier outfront is the nicest, most practical and well kept pier on the Chain of Lakes! If you bring a boat along, make sure you have some extra fenders, as the water levels on the Chain are extremely low this year. A marina with pay ramp and fuel service is just a few minutes south of the property. The property outside has plenty of folding chairs to have the entire family gather around nightly bonfires at the huge firepit. A bags game and horseshoes are also provided. A pool tables is inside for you enjoyment. The outdoor grill needs user supplied charcoal, but all the BBQ tools you may need are provided. The owners will greet you upon your arrival and walk you through the house. They are wonderful people to deal with and they are just minutes away if you need them, (which I doubt!) Almost everyroom has a flat screen Television with DirecTv programing. My entire family and guests were all able to comfortably watch the All Star Baseball game in the main living room. Should you need provisions, the town of Fox Lake is not far away and provides several shopping options. Many dining options either on the lake or in town, provide eat in or take out service if you just don't feel like cooking. All in all, a wonderful relaxing place to get away at. We intend to return again next summer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The house had no heat on a very cold night. In addition, the owner forgot to bring the fireplace key and said she would bring it by later that evening. She did not return with the key so we had no heat and no indoor fire. We did not get what we paid for! The owners have not been helpful and in fact have been disrespectful. I rented 6 months ago and have not received my security deposit back. The owners have not responded to many of my attempts to reach them and have even sat silent on the phone when they chose to answer...how juvenile!! Do not waste your time here. You will receive much better customer service elsewhere.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Owners were wonderful! We had a group of seven girls staying there in their late 40's,we needed a break from the fast pace here in Chicago, quick get away, awesome house on the lake. Perfect perfect perfect!!! Big home, plenty of room for us to stretch out and relax,4 bedrooms and lots of room for airbeds! We only left the house once to shop at the thrift/ antique stores, otherwise we just kicked back and relaxed. Great kitchen too! Again Ellen and Gregg the owners were super,we will be back!!!! Thank you from Susan :)Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My husband and I and a few friends rented this home out for the Memorial Day weekend to kick off the boating season. Even though the weather was pretty awful most of the weekend, and not really boat-friendly, this home had everything to still make it an extremely enjoyable weekend!! By boat OR by car, this location is right in the middle of everything, and made it so easy to get to anywhere. The loding accommodations were perfect (slept 9 with MORE than enough room!), and the back room had the most amazing view of the water/sunset. The pool table inside, and the horsehoes and bag setup in the yard with the fire pit made it feel like a mini resort; my only disappointment was that we didn't have enough time to take advantage of all the amenities!! This would definitely be my first choice to stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I hosted a retreat for a group of young people in January. The house and grounds were beautiful and well suited for retreating from city life, even though amenities were within walking distance from the house. Processing through the owner was smooth and relatively hassle-free. I highly recommend this beautiful old house.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

The house was very open and comfortable for our family of nine. Rooms were reasonably sized with most having a window air conditioner. Plenty of space outdoors to play, swim (remember to bring water shoes), fish etc. Also there are places to play several games provided by the owner. The owner was also helpful in giving information for the surrounding businesses, such as groceries and boat - ski rentals.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

Five law school friends and I got together at this house for an informal five-year reunion. We arrived on Friday afternoon, and the owner was there to show us around the house and give us the keys. Lots of beds, lots of room, and very close to the water. The weather wasn't great, but we had a great time. Watched the Belmont Stakes on the big screen TV in the living room and spent a lot of time hanging out on the enclosed porch. The owner also provided a set of cornhold boards, which occupied much of our time (I don't know if that is standard or if we just got lucky). I highly recommend this place for families or groups of friends.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.
