Our Elephant Butte Lake house is the perfect getaway destination for a relaxing vacation combined with a ton of activities and attractions, should you want to take advantage of them. This picturesque desert lake with its many marinas, great fishing, miles of shoreline and beach, and mild weather will provide each member of your party with their ideal vacation experience.
Less then 1/2 mile down the hill from the home, is the Beach and the Hot Springs Landing..
Our large fenced in property with circular driveway and 2 gates, allows you to move your boat with ease and to park securely. There is also, a 2-car, carport.
This vacation home is ideal for 2 couples, but can sleep up to 8
guests, with a privacy cutainl in one large room. . There is 1 queen bed, 1 double bed, 1 double size convertible couch, 1 single futon and 1 queen size convertible couch. All these sleeping accomodations are comfortable beds. There are two private bedrooms and two family rooms.
We have supplied this guest house with everything from , soap, Ipod player, 2 TVs with VCR and DVD movies, 1 TV has satellite family channels, playing cards, board games, dishes pots and pans, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer,, deck chairs,deck tables, a large Gas BBQ, shampoo, hair dryer, coffee pot, toaster, and more. Just bring your clothes and toys!

Elephant Butte Lake is still one of the more relatively undiscovered water paradises in the United States. We love spending time on and around this picturesque desert lake with several marinas, great fishing. and friendly people. The manmade reservoir is over 40 miles long with over 200 miles of shoreline, so there is plenty of room for private times on the lake.

Elephant Butte itself delivers a laid-back, relaxed environment with proximity to hot springs, hiking, bird watching and many enjoyable day trips. If you are looking for a getaway for a weekend, a week, a month or more, this would be the place to go. The weather is temperate; the beach little more then a stone’s throw from the house, there are several marinas and boat slips nearby, the area is friendly but not rowdy, the house is comfortable, well-equipped and reasonably priced for rentals. Our caretaker is available to make sure that your vacation is just what your dreamt it would be!

This lake house has the most fantastic deck and the view of the reservoir and mountains is fabulous. The deck is equipped with everything you need including a grill to cook on, and outdoor refrigerator for beverages. The house is very spacious with lots of windows and stocked with everything you need. It was very cleaned and well maintained. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of closet space. The kitchen was well equipped and there were 2 TV's with plenty of movies to watch. We had a blast playing ping-pong on the outdoor table. The house is just a few minutes from town, and hot springs, and of course the reservoir. We had sunshine everyday with temps in the 80's during the day and it cooled down at night. We would highly recommend this vacation rental and can't wait to go again. The renters are extremely easy to work with and very accomodating.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay in Elephant Butte. The house is very welcoming in both appearance of the outside and the comfortable layout and furnishings inside. There are many homey touches designed to make one feel at home. Even in February we were able to spend time on the huge deck overlooking the lake. We walked many miles of well-maintained trails throughout the State Park leading through high desert to the lake shore. Elephant Butte served as a hub for us as we like to take day trips to explore nature and historic sites. We visited many old mining towns such as Chloride and Kingston. One afternoon was spent at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, waiting to witness huge flocks of birds flying in at sunset. We made a trip to Emory Pass in the Black Range. Highly recommended is a trip to the VLA, (Very Large Array) near the old cattle town of Magdalena. After a day of traveling through the magnificent scenery of the high desert plains and surrounding mountains, we returned to a restful home and enjoyed the various videos on hand. We would love to visit again in the future as there are many more places to explore in NM. A big thank you to Ginny and Den Merrill for providing a home for our wonderful Southwestern vacation. My friends and I spent a very lovely week at this home overlooking Elephant Butte Reservoir last June. The home was very welcoming and it made you feel like you were "at home" and not away spending time at someone else's house. The beds were comfy and it was so quiet that our sleep was not disturbed. The large dining room table allowed for a great social opportunity when eating meals. However, most meals were cooked on the large grill and eaten out on the huge deck overlooking the water and enjoying the glorious sunsets. We even enjoyed several lightning shows from the deck. The owners provide a local directory and were very attentive in meeting our needs. Sheila, their property manager checked in with us frequently to address any problems and to update us on what was going on around the area. The Merrills even provide staples in the fridge and the cupboards to cover your needs until you can shop. Our most memorable times were down at the beach and sightseeing in the area. You have to visit the local hot springs and the Geronimo Museum while in the area. All the amenities we needed were local and people were warm and friendly. I would also like to suggest that you charter a boat to go fishing. Watching the sunrise was outstanding and we caught fish! The boat also gave us a great vantage point to see the "rock elephant head" for which the reservoir is named. This is a vacation home that you will not be disappointed in. Our group plans to return again.

This house was a joy and an oasis. We found plenty of roomy and convenient space for well over the six or eight people recommended. We hosted an evening dinner for 13 and found all the amenities to be included. Our hosts were friendly and extremely informative. We hope to visit this lovely house on the hill, overlooking the lake, at least one more time this year. The two bathrooms supported the six weekend residents and the only real change we can recommend is some form of ventilation in the downstairs area. The adequate swamp cooling system works great for the upstairs, but there is no airflow in the lower floor. Overall, the stay was convenient, comfortable, scenic and very enjoyable.

We have always wanted to find a nice home to share with friends every time we visit the Butte. Now we have one! This home offers all the amenities one would expect in a home. Parking our boat was no problem with the circular drive. The deck with a lake view was ideal for grilling, eating, & socializing. The kitchen and bedrooms were stocked with all sorts of necessities. We will definitely be back! We can't say enough about Cafe Bella Luca in T or C. This Italian restaurant has the best food we have eaten in New Mexico. All homemade courses are delicious. The Butte experience would not be complete without a memorable meal at Cafe Bella Luca!
