Three girlfriends and myself stayed here for a weekend, and it was perfect for us. Our weekend was planned to shop, chat, eat, and catch up, and the house was perfect to have lazy mornings with coffee and late nights with appetizers and wine. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. One bathroom was just fine for the four of us, and the living room was spacious for lounging. Overall, it was a great place! Thanks so much!

I spent a week here with my sisters for our yearly get-together. We try to go somewhere different each year. We all thought it was a wonderful place. There was the beach near by, plus the outlet mall and we found fabric stores in the area. The cottage was very roomy, the living room huge and the screened porch was a great place to sit and visit. We had a great time.

Recently spent a week with my siblings at this property. We had an excellent time. Location to the water great, nice little coffee shop/ice cream shop right around the corner, close to great shopping and food. The accommodations were very nice for the 5 of us. Plenty of hot water and handy to have the washer and dryer. The living area was very nice and spacious and comfortable as were the sleeping accommodations. We enjoyed sitting on the screened porch with the morning cup of coffee and later in the day just visiting and working on our crafts.

I was enchanted with the cottage. It is cozy and very clean. If you are you actually spending all of your time indoors than what is the point of a holiday with your family. The point of a holiday is to get out and enjoy the beach and the amenities that Michigan City offers. My family trully enjoyed our experience on top of the hill in this quaint cottage. I would recommend this location for a perfect location to get away from the city!

We stayed here this summer. Cottage kitchen is outdated, dark and cramped. Cabinets are filled to capacity, so no room for our things. Refridgerator was dirty upon arrival. Bedrooms have no dressers and closets are also filled to capacity. We had to live out of the suitcases on the floor for one week. House is sloping downward so all doors are crooked, no door closed correctly. Backyard was one bright spot, nice and big for the kids to run around. One thing that was not mentioned was the driveway. It is a straight slope up, so after a long day at the beach, walking up this driveway was a definate hassle. Small 5 min walk to the beach was great, but with all of the other inconveniences, we would definately not recommend this place. We actually ended up leaving a night early because we just wanted to get out of there.

Owner response: Robert, we so appreciate your feedback. Please allow me to address your concerns: Let me assure you we have spent the last several years attempting to update this lovely old place, first by leveling of the cottage and all that goes with it. We remodeled the bathroom. We replaced the windows. The air conditioning, screened-porch, carpeting, were all replaced July 2010. The kitchen has a new refrigerator.(I am disappointed the maid did not clean it or organize the cookware. I apologise.) The range, stove, micro, cabinets and cooking island are all new. You can blame the clutter on my husband, who loves to cook! We would build him a separate kitchen if I had my say. The storage space is very limited in a cottage built on a dune in 1946. We have just enough for our few personal things and linens. Please understand it is a never-ending chore. We are working on affording all these things as fast as we can. Until then, we hope that everyone, including our large family from Chicago, will continue to enjoy this quaint little casa not so grande. As far as the driveway, the cottage is pictured and described in our VRBO ad as a cottage atop the Indiana Dunes. You should try it in winter! In all fairness and jokes aside, there are numerous steep driveways and stairways on the five-minute walk to the lake. We are truly disappointed you, your family and canines did not enjoy yourselves in our home.

In a quick car ride from Chicago, you can stay at this lovely cottage. It sits on top of a hill, and it's a 5 min walk ti the beach. Great in winter or summer! In the winter, we just fill the fireplace. The beach is spectacular in the winter as well as summer. If it's night life you crave, the casino is just up the street. It's the best of both worlds. Long Beach itself is quaint, but you can drive a few minutes and find yourself in Michigan! New Buffalo is a darling town, and the drive is so nice. Everywhere you look is the beautiful enviornment. The cabin has everything you need and is so comfortable. Our dogs enjoyed everything, especially the beach!! We will be going back!!
