This cottage was the perfect place to stay for a long weekend. Close by was the Fish and Tackle shop where Karen and her husband rented us surf fishing poles and we bought the other necessary items to fish out at Cape Lookout. The ferry was directly across the street and our captain even took a little extra time to drive us right alongside the shore of Shackleford Island to get pictures of the horses. We went out to the shore on Cape Lookout and fished the day away and caught a drum and numerous blues on what may end up being the last pretty warm weekend of the year. We also visited the Waterfowl Museum on Harkers' Island. I want to go back and read through the many handwritten stories by locals of folklore and things that happened in the area from years ago. The cottage, though older, had character, charm and was decorated with a beachy flavor. We brought our own blender for the marguaritas but other than that this place had everything else we needed. The dock by the water in the photo was not part of the property but the house that the dock belonged to was for sale and empty so we did enjoy sitting out there for a beautiful sunset. Thank you for sharing this piece of heaven on earth with us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I am so glad you enjoyed your stay on Harkers Island. Come back and visit us again.
