St. Pete Beach house description
Little Tara in the Pass-a-Grille district of St. Pete Beach, Florida is a wonderful place to visit for your relaxing beach vacation. Quiet, in a neighborhood setting, your home away from home is nestled between the Inter-coastal waterway and the Gulf of Mexico. And it is only an easy 30-minute drive from Tampa’s outstanding international airport.
Pass-a-Grille is 32 blocks long and 1 block wide which means you are mere steps away from the sandy beaches. The beaches where dolphins frolic and sea shells are waiting for you to find. We have gorgeous sunsets and rest assured, there really is a green flash! I thought about adding a picture of a fabulous Pass-A-Grille sunset but decide that was better left up to you!
Comfy pillow top mattresses await your slumbering pleasure. And a couch, though not a sleeper, is a great place to read, nap and read some more. Watch a little TV, a movie or two, and nap some more. Bring your pets; we even have a pet door with access to the deck. My pups love to lie outside and enjoy the sun, all while surveying their domain.
Pass-a-Grille has a great little Main Street (8th Avenue) complete with wonderful shops and restaurants. Walk or ride your bike to breakfast, lunch or dinner with a selection from fine dining or casual, your choice. The attire is almost always casual here on the beach.
When your mind and body are relaxed and you are ready to hit the town for some fun, you are but minutes away from downtown St. Petersburg (rated number 9 for nightlife in mid-size cities). The Pier, Dali Museum, Fine Arts Museum, the Holocaust museum and many more. With restaurants galore for dinner, dancing and more.
If on the water is where you want to be, you can walk to afternoon sailboat charters, fishing charters or sunset sails. Rent jet skis, go parasailing, or ride the banana. Take the shuttle to Shell Island, Egmont Key or drive to Ft. Desoto Beach, rated the number one beach in the country last year. And, yes, they have a dog beach.
Not to worry if you don't have a car, the beach shuttle will take you anywhere from Pass-A-Grille to Clearwater Beach for a nominal daily fee. It will even take you to downtown St. Petersburg. We now have electric open air cars, like a taxi, that don't charge to pick you up and deliver you to your destination here on St. Pete Beach. Their only request is a tip to cover their time.
Once you have experienced the magic of Pass-a-Grille you will know you have truly found Paradise in an historic little area of St. Pete Beach. Check the calendar for availability.

We just completed a three week stay at Little Tara. What a great location, perfect setting, close to everything one might want to do in sunny Florida. The beach is within 1/2 block (can you imagine that?). You have three locations for shelling within walking distance. The duplex was outstanding, we had three sets of visitors during our stay and all of them fell in love with the accommodations. Our landlords were super, everything was in order. When we needed help they were right on. We grilled just about every evening, if you grill you must stop by Shaner's and pick up some Kabobs (they are fantastic). Near Shaner's is a little Italian & Pizza restaurant, try the pizza--GREAT. Our plan is to return to Little Tara.

Super enjoyed our time at L’il Tara.
Super enjoyed our time at L’il Tara.
This older but well-maintained duplex is across the street from the Gulf, and a short walk or bike ride to the Don Cesar Hotel to the north and quirky Pass-a-Grille to the south. We especially liked the design of our upper floor unit -- a large L-shaped open living space (kitchen, dining, living room) with bedrooms and baths on each end. Bonuses not typical for a vacation rental was the large uncovered deck where we ate most of our meals and ample off-street parking and storage in the garage and backyard. One caveat -- the washer and dryer located downstairs, though that turned out to be less of a problem than we first thought. We originally planned to stay three months for the south St. Pete location and easy work-commute to Tampa, but with time running out and the unpleasant thought of leaving L’il Tara approaching, we extended our stay for five months and then again after that for another three months. We have already booked L’il Tara for three months this summer, and might extend after that! Another reason we keep going back is the charming owners who did everything in their power to make our time at L’il Tara trouble-free and enjoyable.

Little Tara at Pass a Grille
Little Tara at Pass a Grille
We have just returned from a wonderful vacation at Pass a Grille. Our accomodation at Little Tara exceeded our expectations, it was wonderfully comfortable, spotlessly clean, in a quiet location with great amenities, and just a minute's walk from the beach! A real 'home from home' but with the beautiful Gulf Coast as a backdrop. Stan and Bev were so welcoming and accomodating, it really was the perfect break - we're already planning our next vacation!

We recently returned from a three week stay in this comfortable and charming duplex. The whole family, including our two dogs, felt instantly at home and thoroughly enjoyed our time at "Little Tara". The unit is well equipped and the furniture and beds were extremely comfortable. Pass-a-Grille is just as wonderful as the owner described. It's perfect for relaxing on the beach which is only steps away, but there's much to do in the area. The owners are very helpful and accomodating and clearly want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We can't wait to return!

About the owner: We are a middle aged couple (did I really say that) who love the beach lifestyle. Once the kids were grown our desire was to move to Pass-a-grille and relax. We chose this area because, as a child, I used to come out with my aunt who shared with me the world of shelling. The access to the Tampa International Airport was a plus since my husband still traveled extensively with his business. Actually, that was my dream and when I suggested the beaches he said 'why'. It would take more than a shoehorn to get him out of here now. We look forward to sharing our slice of paradise with new people.
Why the Owner Chose St. Pete Beach:
We chose to purchase this particular property to renovate and make it our permanent home. When we were blessed and able to purchase a home on the beach we decided this would be a perfect rental property to share our paradise with others.
