Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2009
Alpine is the coolest small town in the west. We have been traveling to West Texas for 5 years and we decided we wanted to put down some roots there. It's a long drive, but it is so worth it! We are both tri-athletes and use the house as a training base for long weekends of swimming, biking and running. This place is great for bikes, with or without an engine! We decided to call this house "Casa del Sol Naciente"..."House of the Rising Sun". The house has interesting artwork depicting a rising sun, roosters, and of course the famous "House of the Rising Sun" musical artists, The Animals and Leadbelly. The decor is modern, it's Texan, it's English, its Pottery Barn meets Mexico!
Why the Owner Chose Alpine
We love the area and the abundance of beauty it offers. We also love the people who live in the area who are so freindly and welcoming. It's a great place to get away from everything and just enjoy life! We chose Alpine and the Ft. Davis mountain area because it is such a great place to swim, bike, run. We spend a lot of our time in the area cycling and with few vehicles on the road, the high altitude and some terrific hill climbs, it's a great place to cycle and run. There are also great swimming options; Balmorhea State Park is near-by as well as access to the Sul Ross University 30 meter swimming/lap pool for a $5.00 fee. We've outfitted the house with a few "tri basics"; water bottles, day bags, bike tools, beach towels...etc. Great training and beautiful surroundings...perfect!
The Unique Benefits of this House
Comfortable surroundings, side porch to enjoy morning coffee, afternoon lunches or just bird watching. The house is equipped with wireless internet, washer and dryer, fooseball table and 2 car garage for added security and ease.

Perfect for day tripping into Big Bend Country. Close enough to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Carlsbad Caverns National Park to enjoy day trips. And, last but not least, Alpine is a great town to hang out in as well!

The house was perfect for a group of motorcyclists. The large garage was great for storing our bikes. The house was spotless and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting outside in the cool evening air, both in the backyard and on the driveway. One evening, a large deer walked across the street and disappeared into the neighbors yard. Noise from the nearby train can jar you awake in the night, but that is common throughout Alpine. I couldn't have been more pleased with the house. I would definitely recommend stay at Casa Del Sol Naciente.

We recently visited Alpine for a family convocation and several of us had the pleasure of staying at Casa Del Sol Naciente. This house REALLY has all the comforts of home...central air, dishwasher, barbeque pit, chimenea, everything brand new and sparkling clean. Back yard barbeques are the BEST with a glorious view of the mountains and the added extra of the privacy fence. I'd call the decor "West Texas Modern"...really lovely!

This is the second vacation home that we have had the opportunity to stay in; in the Alpine area, (both were spectacular). Casa del Sol Naciente, or “The House of the Rising Sun” is an awesome home, we stayed 3 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Everything you could possibly imagine you might need was provided (garage to park your vehicle, washer/dryer, dishwasher, refrig with ice maker, foosball table that kept our grandchildren occupied for quite some time, etc., etc., etc.) . The house was beautiful and spacious. It is even better than the photos. We really enjoyed using the patio, which is just off of the dining room, for morning breakfasts and for just sitting out and enjoying the mountain views and the pleasant quietness. Unfortunately, we did not have an opportunity to BBQ, in the nice pit, which is provided, however, we enjoyed our stay so much, we are returning in December and look forward to having a wintery type of BBQ. This home makes you feel so comfortable and is definitely a home away from home. We were very pleased with every aspect of this vacation rental. No one could ever go wrong in renting this beautiful vacation rental.

I'm actually from Alpine and we decided to rent a house this trip instead of camping out at my relatives. The house is just beautiful and the location is just awesome. We met a lot of the neighbors and enjoyed the neighborhood and the sunsets. Tons of room, comfortable beds, great kitchen... We absolutely loved it. Being from there, I noticed a lot of the furnishings/decorations were local, which really added a great touch. It was so beautifully decorated and even had a LOLcat book and the Beatles Trivial Pursuit game! We really felt at home and enjoyed our time in the Big Bend Country! Definitely recommend it and hope to rent it again on the next trip!
