We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Thomas cabin. The view from the front porch was fabulous as were the views throughout the gated neighborhood. The waterfall park and Lake George were great photo opportunities for our son who is working on a degree in graphic design. The views throughout the neighborhood were most impressive. He had so much wildlife to photograph, also! We had everything we needed in the cabin. I would have been perfectly happy just staying there and not leaving the property at all. Lori was very helpful and responsive. We hope to return soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The home was beautiful! So cozy and comfy, we didn't want to leave. The view from the porch is simply amazing! It is amazing how many mountains you can see from the comfort of the rocking chairs - they just go on and on and are beautiful. One morning, I watched the sunrise right through the mountains - what a treat. The fireplace was used all weekend long and the kids loved the pie irons - we made numerous meals that way. The pie irons would be great in the outdoor fire pit as well. We ended up never leaving the community, as the waterfall park was great to explore, we saw wildlife in a few places, and it was just too pretty and comfortable to be bothered going elsewhere. The accommodations in the home were perfect, very well-maintained. The owners were excellent about communicating before and after our stay. Highly recommend it - we sure hope to return ourselves!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was our third stay and we look forward to another vacation at the Thomas Cabin. The cabin has everything you need for time away from home including a very comfortable king bed, outstanding outdoor space including a large patio with fire pit and dining table, a spacious front porch with rocking chairs to watch the sun set or rise, and a wood burning indoor fireplace. Within the course of a week, we were fortunate to experience a couple of seasons including extremely warm days and then winter came on with small snow flakes toward the end of our stay. We love Gateway Mountain and being able to visit Hendersonville, Black Mountain, Asheville and all kinds of hiking trails within minutes drive of the cabin. The owner is very available to answer questions or assist if needed. We look forward to another visit!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I don't even know where to begin. Absolutely amazing! The pictures don't come close to how beautiful this cabin is and how breathtaking the view is. Not to mention the absolute peace and quiet. Just heavenly! It had everything and more that you needed; even down to firewood and starter provided for the fire pit and fireplace. Proximity to Black Mountain, Asheville , Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure is ideal. Lori couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Our family had a wonderful time and would love to go back!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We have the nicest guests! Thank you.

THIS CABIN OFFERS PEACE, COMFORT, TRANQUILITY AND BEAUTIFUL VIEWS. WE SAW CLOUDS IN THE DISTANCE HOVERING OVER MTS., WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SITE. I LOVE THE MTS. YET, I AM AFRAID OF HEIGHTS. IT WAS NOT A BAD TRIP TO GET THERE. HOUSE IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND NICELY EQUIPPED. NOT TOO FAR FROM BLACK MTN. YOU'LL ENJOY YOUR STAY THERE. THE LAKE AND WATERFALL WERE ALSO NICE. OWNERS VERY ACCOMMODATING. WE FELT SAFE AND SECURE IN THEIR GATED PROPERTY.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Our family loved this cabin. Very will maintained and Kitchen was well equipped. Family loved the lake on property, but it is a 2.5 mile drive within the subdivision. All the water toys and folding chairs were a plus. We had about 30 people over for a cook-out reunion and there was plenty of parking available and space within cabin. Bob and Lori, the owners, were very helpful answering questions. Would recommend to my friends. Need to know that closet Grocery store about 14 miles away. (Wal-Mart). In town store was very expensive. FYI (phone reception was rough), but we gave the cabin # to our family members to be able to reach us.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Uh oh. I am afraid these guests tried to grocery shop at the convenience store! There is a medium sized Frisbee grocery store in downtown Old Fort at 196 Main Street that has a good selection with fair prices. There is a full service Ingles grocery store that offers a deli, bakery, beer and wine in Black Mountain, just south of I-40 at Exit 64.

I would definitely go back to this absolutely gorgeous property. There was so much to do. Exploring the waterfall park, fishing and swimming at the lake, and making s'mores over the campfire each night. Such wonderful memories. The cabin is exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated. We felt right at home and the views were magnificent. Will definitely go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
