We have been going to the Eastcape for many years and recently stayed at Carlee's place for the first time this past May. Needless to say we have found the perfect place for us to stay on all of our future trips. Carlee and Spence are wonderful people and perfect hosts, anything you need they can take care of for you. The house is in a perfect location within walking distance to town and yes right on the beach. Los Barriles is a wonderful little Baja town, very save and quiet, we have never had a problem in Baja in the 20+ years we've been traveling there. The house is a simple Mexican style home a little weathered but very clean and comfortable with a lot of charm. Everything you need is there, I would highly recommend this little piece of paradise.

My husband and I (mid-30's) took our 20mon. old to this property right on the beach and had a wonderful time. It was relaxing and we could block off the patio stairs so he was contained and we just sat out, watching the boats and kite-boarders, drinking coffee, laying in the sun, reading, walking down the stairs to the beach to play in the sand, taking the (free) kayaks out on the very calm water, and enjoying the friendly little town. We brought some food from San Jose (big grocery store) and also purchased some locally (small shops) to cook at the house, as well as going out to the wonderful local seafood restaurant (outside dining) Carlee recommended--try the yellow fin grilled with butter/garlic or the yummy chips/salsa and the margaritas (1 will do ya fine!). Carlee provided us a stroller and high chair for our little one and we took walks around town and up to the coffee shop on the hill (try the caramel rolls). Carlee and husband live across town part of the year and even helped us charge our rental car battery after it "mysteriously died" in the night (now that's another story...rental cars...grr). Note, the gas leak (bad connector hose) has been fixed and a new bed purchased..they even offered a washer/dryer and left a bottle of wine on the counter and later, local tomales to welcome us. Carlee would check in with us to make sure everything was ok, but gave us our space as well. If you are looking for a resort vacation, this is not it...go to Cabo if that is what you want...it is what it says...a family vacation rental..like staying in someone's guest house, private space on the beach for couples or small families or multiple family members who wish to stay in separate units (detached rooms on the same property). This duplex is by the boat launch, which we didn't mind at all. The quaint, quiet, relaxing small town away from the busy city and drinking tourists is just what we were looking for and just what we got...in regards to the negative review, remember this is Mexico, not Florida!! We stayed here for a few days and then went back to San Jose for a few days to experience both the small town and big city condo life. The Baja is laid back and beautiful sunshine almost every day! This house had everything we needed and we will look forward to returning someday with our extended family. Thanks, Carlee!

I have stayed at this home a number of times and find that my feelings about the house and owners are so opposite to the negative review I just read that I must say something. Look at the pictures. This is not a sterile condo. This is a home one can live in. You will meet your neighbors. You’ll be invited to go hiking, walking or dine with the owners. It’s a place where one can get a sense of small-town Mexico with unlocked doors and drinkable water. It’s a family town with lots of beach activity and even a town park. You will find your way into the life here if you are open to new friendships and spontaneous outings. If you just want to hunker down and see nobody, perhaps the condo scene would be preferable.

We had a very poor experience at this house. The house was not as described in the VRBO add. There is one bedroom in the main house with another laundry room/bedroom (dark room with two twin beds and a tiny window along with a washer/dryer) that is outside and below the main house and a separate casita. There is no third bedroom as the add states. This house is NOT safe. There were wires hanging out of walls, the stove literally exploded while we were there, buring off the hair of our friends arm and eyebrows. This house has not been maintained. There is no water pressure, no hot water and the house is next to the main entrance to the beach. The house was not cleaned or stocked when we arrived (one roll of toilet paper and giant gross hairball in the shower) It's a duplex - which is not mentioned in the add either. The ower was nice enough, but completely oblivious to the dangers and poor condition of the house. They also freely entered the house several times withour knocking. We have small children and appreciate our privacy. When the stove blew up, I came out of the bedroom at 8am in my bathroble to find the owner standing in the living room - hello heard of knocking? Or calling before coming over for that matter. Instead of paying for our meals for the day while they replaced the stove, she brought over a hotpad and said I could cook on that or drive downtown to use her stove. Seriously! We did not stay the full two weeks we had rented the house for - it was that bad. They did refund us one weeks stay. Just beware before you rent!

My husband and I, parents and twins booked this house for March this past year, We came from Canada and it was our first time in Los Barriles. On one hand we felt like we were taking a chance....expensive flights, the house and all unknown and then the safety issue of Mexico . We had the vacation of a life time.....Carlee guided us thru and was there for any questions always. All of us fell in love with the town, people, restaurants from hole in the wall to real building.. Never felt so safe.....The house was perfect perfect for us....easy and comfortable outside living even if the wind blew. The citrus trees in the back were heavy with citrus in March Our kids saw there first trees with "fruit" All the kiting and windsurfing was right there and my husband decided to take lessons and was delighted and entertained the whole time....A new hobby! Carlee showed our 5 year old twins the goat farm, arranged for quad rides, she took me hiking and shopping, my father house touring.... She takes a personal interest in her renters but is not a nuisance Ask and she can arrange so much from the orgainic produce man on Wed and Sat... to behind the wall jewelry sales, clothing, etc. the location of the fish market where to book for fishing,,,bus ride to San Jose.... all such fun......3 weeks was not long enough... You won't be sorry if you book this house......

We brought our new baby , 2 months, last year to Carlee's house and had both sets of grandparents come separately for a week for some loving and bonding . It was an easy house to have the family ....all the living, even in Jan, was outside on the patio....the wind was not a problem yet just right there in front was the beach. My husband and I are both kiters and we had some great days... We booked again for this next year......It was a happy happy experience......We loved the house and its decorating! Great beds!! Great location!

We have been booking this wonderful home for the past 5 years each April It is OURS for the entire month and we love it!!. We swim, snorkle, walk the beach and have about worn out her kayaks!! Carlee has introduced us to all the locals and local artist and we get private tours of homes and work shops.. It is such a friendly town.....Her location makes it possible NOT to need a car.....The local hotels are walking distance away. very happy to have us come and do happy hour... Best yet is happy hour sitting on the beach wall at the house and watching the fishing boats coming in...the walkers on the beach with happy dogs and the evening shadows changing from day to gorgeous evening From the back deck....which she does not mention in her ad....we watch glorious sunsets.... Remember APRIL IS OURS but you will love this place!!! .
