  Beautiful, spacious, extremely clean and nicely appointed/updated first-rate condo in prime location on Kaanapali Beach. This was our first time ever using VRBO and we were extremely pleased with this unit. Stayed for 8 days with my husband and our 19-year-old college daughter and her friend. It was wonderful having the spaciousness and conveniences of a 2Bed/2Bath condo coupled with all the amenities of a fine hotel (concierge, parking, maid service, great fitness center, pool towels, etc.) Help staff was first-rate and the entire complex is beautifully maintained and manicured. Watched the sun rise from behind the mountains from the balcony each morning followed by a run along the "boardwalk" on the beach to start each day. Enjoyed fresh lemon water and coffee available pool side every morning. 6 very nice/clean stainless steel BBQ grills poolside with beach view and seating... what could be better than a nice family BBQ next to the beach at sunset??!!! Beach at the Kaanapali Alii is beautiful and we enjoyed watching the multitude of surfers every day since there were great surfing waves during our stay. Short walk to Whaler's Village with plenty of nice restaurants and shopping. Short drive to Lahaina for more great restaurants and local Safeway to stock the fridge. This condo is truly in an excellent location! Since this was our first trip to Maui, the owner was extremely helpful in providing us with recommendations for dining, luau, etc. (and he was right--Kimo's in Lahaina has a GREAT prime rib and the Old Lahaina Luau was beautiful on the beach at sunset!) We really appreciated his friendliness and helpfulness in advance of our trip. Highly recommend this unit and we can't wait to visit again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful condo!

  My family (spouse and three girls ages 2, 6, and 9) stayed in this unit from April 10 to April 17 in celebration of our ten year wedding anniversary. The condo was exactly as shown in the photos on the site with one exception; the kitchen has been upgraded with stainless appliances. Very nice. We really loved the nice sectional sofa, dining area, and places for us to retire to spend time alone in the evenings. In all, the unit is uncommonly clean, has a well-appointed kitchen, and overall, is very comfortable. The lanai is accessible from the dining area, living room, and master which was a nice design touch. Moreover, the converted den is a great space for kids. The owners have undertaken special effort to make the unit comfortable and a very good value considering the square footage and location. There is a limited ocean view from the lanai but as the owners describe, the view of the West Maui mountains is good. Other than the aforementioned items, we found the owners to be responsive to all questions and inquiries before our trip and they even reached out to us afterward to seek feedback about our stay. This affirmed our decision on the unit and we are already discussing our return trip to this unit. The resort is also extremely clean and run very efficiently. The staff was uncommonly courteous and seemed to always be working hard to make things nicer for guests. The pool may not have pirate ships or a pool bar but it is also absent crowds and some of the attention to detail we have experienced on other Maui properties. This unit is a solid value. We stayed a second week at the Honua Kai with an ocean view unit. The unit at the Alii was a hands-down winner as was the overall resort in comparison. In all areas that we were happy with the Alii, we were disappointed with the Honua Kai. In addition to overall cleanliness and staff professionalism, you must consider the Alii's great location and wonderful beach. The Honua Kai and all properties north of Black Rock may advertise as Kaanapali Beach, but frankly, they are not. They are on either North Beach or Kahekili Beach; none of which have direct access, or within walking distance to the Kaanapali Beach walk or Whaler's Village. Moreover, the beaches north of Black Rock often have seaweed blooms and rocky shores which make it difficult to frolic in the surf with kids. This is a great unit with great owners. We will return here and thank you for sharing your home with us!

  Our family of four have been to Maui for the past 7 years. We have two sons, a college senior and a high school senior. This year our high school senior went on a school sponsored missions trip, so Curt and I were on our own for 'spring break'. Not breaking 'tradition' we headed back to the Alii, and had a fabulous stay in this wonderful Unit. It is quite spacious, and the 'extra bedroom is perfect in allowing privacy for another person or couple. Curt and I relaxed on the balcony, occasionally watched television, as we were mostly out on the beach -snorkeling down at Black Rock, doing a fantastic paddle adventure in an Outrigger Canoe, reading by the beach, walking or running amidst the scenery of a variety of birds, seeing whales in the distance, and listening to the crashing waves as many delighted in ''body surfing' or jumping the waves, etc. The property is extremely clean and well maintained, the owner is outstanding and easy to contact, the activities & restaurants are numerous. Of course the kitchen has everything ready to use for any cooking that is desired. One of our favorite restaurants is the Hula Grille at the Whaler's Village. if you are lucky enough to be there when Derek Sebastian is playing his Ukulele, you will be stunned at his world class performance. We have one of his C.D.s and love listening to it throughout the year. This property is great for families, 2 couples, and any age, who wants to capture a beautiful Maui sunset!

  We just returned from spending 11 wonderful days in Maui and your unit worked quite wonderfully for us (2 adults and 3 young children). We had a really great experience and were very comfortable with all of the amenities provided both in the unit and at the Kanaapali Alii as a whole. The unit had everything we needed, inlcuding a partial oceanview from the patio even though the condo is a mountain view unit (the mountain and golfcourse views are also very nice and we saw a lot of rainbows that way.) The kitchen was extremely well equipped and we greatly appreciated the daily housekeeping which we haven't always had during previous condo stays on the island. The pool area was great and we loved having the beach right there and being able to go back and forth between swimming in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub and making sand castles on the beach. On breezier days the pool area turned out to be protected from the wind and on cooler days the warm sand on the beach made it feel plenty warm enough to play in the sand and get wet. Overall we were very happy with this unit and resort. Thank you!

  The property description was understated. we were impressed wiyh everything from the property, location and unit.It was meticulously maintained and would highly recommend Maui and this unit as a spectular vacation destination. A 5 star destination with all of the comforts of home!!

  Can't believe it took our family 30+ years to finally visit Hawaii . My husband, two adult daughters,and myself spent nine unbelievable days in Maui in the Rachner's condo . We have been very fortunate to travel to many places in this world but none as beautiful as this . There was nothing more we could have asked for, except to stay longer. The condo and property grounds were impecible. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The location is perfectly situated for easy access to shopping, dining, great snorkeling, swimming with great waves and perfect weather. Our favorites were the Old Lahina Luau, Mama's Fishouse( twice , and happy hour at the Whalers Village . The snorkeling was amazing and swimming with sea turtles a real treat . We did go out to dinner quite bit, many good restaurants within a short distance , but some of our best meals were the fish we caught and cooked at the pool side grills . I have never seen a grill so clean except in a box at Home Depot ! The outdoor grilling / eating area was wonderful . The condo was impecible ...and I'm a real nitpicker about that sort of thing . The maid service was a wonderful touch . It was just the right combination of a condo / resort feel . It was one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever been on, I actually woke up one day thinking I lived there! Finally developed our pictures today and realizing that it truly was a vacation of a life time. Thank you for sharing your home with us and being so helpful with our questions ..I don't know how you manage to ever leave . God willing, we will be back and looking to stay here again .

  My husband and I spent our honeymoon in this unit June-July 2011, and it was 11 days of absolute bliss. The unit and facility is clean, amazing, and out of this world! There is no other place I could or would have wanted to spend our honeymoon. We felt like we had entered paradise. The owners were wonderful. They gave my husband and I a list of "must-sees" and we were never once disappointed. Whaler's Village is a must, as well as the Old Lahaina Luau (Book EARLY ... It fills up very quickly). The most AMAZING trip my husband and I took while in Maui was the trip to Mount Haleakala. It was worth getting up at 230AM. All-in-all, I would not have traded one moment of our honeymoon for anything. The condo and Maui was paradise and I felt like a queen. We are already saving money to plan our next trip back to the this condo!!

  We have just completed nearly 2 weeks in the Rachner condo. In a nutshell, we could not ask for better. Rich was easy to work with and an interesting person to boot! It's hard to add more than the previous reviews listed below! We found everything to be up to date and clean. There is enough storage in there for a family of 10! The views from the lanai, where we had breakfast and dinner many nights, is beautiful. We saw many rainbows over the West Maui mountains. My daughter wants to come back to live in the 2nd bedroom...it's just so cool! The Alii itself is very well located and a joy to stay at with excellent beaches right in front, an easy walk to Whaler's Village for dining and shopping and just a few extra minutes to Black Rock for snorkling. In 13 days, we only used a touch over 1 tank of gas..it's simply all right there for you. We are already trying to figure out the next time we can make this trip to Maui and hope to stay in the same unit again....thanks, Rich!

  This unit was perfect for our family of 4. We had myself, my wife, mother-in-law and our 4 year old daughter. My wife and I loved the pictures posted on the VBRO site and so we loved it even more when we finally got to stay in this unit for real. The mountain view was so breath-taking that we didn't mind at all that our ocean view was limited. The amenities were fantastic and having daily maid service spoiled us. We all enjoyed the sites, the pools and the beach. We'll definitely have our eye on this unit the next time we visit Maui for our family vacation!

  Took the kids to Maui for the first time. The Alii was better than I had even expected. Great location right in the middle of everything. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Amazing beach and beautiful pool area. Rich (owner) was great to work with, responded to all my questions in a timely manner and is clearly proud of his condo. And he should be, it's classy and clean. Great layout. We spent tons of time out on the large lanai. View of mountains and a rainbow nearly every afternoon. Can even see a hint of the ocean. Can't wait to go back!
