One of New Orleans' most unique vacation properties: the Engine 24 French Quarter Firehouse... one of the few VRBO properties that is licensed by the City of New Orleans for short-term rentals! Stay in an authentic historic firehouse while enjoying the modern amenities of this renovated gem.
We are located in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny, considered by travel magazines to be one of America's hot neighborhoods. Next door is the French Quarter, one of the most historic and charming areas anywhere.
Our guest house is a restored fire station designed to function as a home away from home for tourists and locals alike to come and enjoy the vibrant culture that is New Orleans. Formerly, this historic building housed Engine 24 of the New Orleans Fire Department! Local architect William Sonner purchased and renovated the Firehouse in the 2000s and it's now one of the city's most popular vacation rentals!
We now have TWO units available - MAIN FLOOR which sleeps 10-12 or the LUXURY PENTHOUSE which sleeps 4-6. The Main Floor is perfect for larger groups, bachelor parties, family gatherings, etc. while the Penthouse is great for smaller groups looking for even more luxurious accommodations with a full gourmet kitchen.
Both units have private living area while the outside courtyard is common space for both. Note: the entrance to the Penthouse is through the Main Floor's kitchen area so there may be some very minor "overlap" if two groups share the house. Each unit has exclusive use of their own kitchen, however,
Please note: The Firehouse is a very popular building and we're often in phone or email contact with multiple groups for the same dates. The first party to initiate payment or provide proper credit will enter into a reservation with us!

Engine 24 French Quarter Firehouse...a Unique Vacation Home!
Year Purchased: 2000
The Unique Benefits at this House
The Marigny is such an interesting neighborhood on its own, with great restaurants, clubs, coffee shops, etc. Fantasic 1800s architecture everywhere, too! And of course, the French Quarter is just a few blocks away.
Owner's Map of Marigny-Bywater
The Firehouse is owned by a successful local architect (who oversaw the renovation!) and a guy who owns/operates an upscale home/lifestyle store in swanky Old Metairie, a N.O. suburb.

A group of seven of us from Portland, Or stayed at the Firehouse in May. We loved the place! We had the doors open whenever we were in the front room. Neighbors would stop by and visit with us. We really enjoyed the area. Spent our first evening at Mimies. What a great bar and fantastic food. Make sure to go upstairs for the music. As for the Firehouse.... Great place for a group. You could have your privacy but be all together when you wanted. The place could have been a bit cleaner, better towels, and lights that worked. I think the courtyard could be a great place to hangout in if it were cleaned up. We all felt that staying at The Firehouse really added to our trip to N.O. Look forward to staying there again.

We loved the Firehouse inn. It's quiet and comfortable and located within a short walk to the French Quarter but not TOO close as to be noisy. We also discovered the delightful Marigny neighborhood, home of the Firehouse. Be sure to check out tapas at Mimis bar (1 block away) or the great Indian food at Julie's inside Schiros grocery (2 blocks away). Very "real" and authentic places not full of tourists. If I owned the firehouse I would do more with the courtyard but that is a minor issue. The place was very nice and well priced for our group of 10. Bravo!

The Firehouse is fun and funky, in an interesting neighborhood and was great four our group of 5 couples attending the same conference. We held a small reception in the living room area. Not a bad walk to the convention center and Jackson Square. The owners need to have a look at the housekeeping however; food left in cupboards and refrigerators from previous guests; partially used toiletries (soap in the bathrooms) shampoos etc in the cupboards, cigarette butts littering the otherwise lovely inner courtyard. Towels had stains as had the carpets. I don't want to have any remnants of previous guests in my hotel accommodations! Things not only need to be clean, they need to look clean. Would only recommend this place if I knew it had been cleaned up. United Taxi provides great service. Be ready to go when you call; they are prompt!
Owner response:Thanks for your comments! We think the Firehouse is a unique place and we're glad you agree! We did have a brand-new housekeeping staff during your visit and, obviously, the follow-up wasn't perfect and we obviously didn't communicate well with our housekeepers. We do apologize for that. Rest assured that we've discussed each issue in detail with the staff. Also, the building owners are currently working on upgrades to the facility to make it even more special than it already is! Thanks for choosing the Firehouse and we look forward to showing you the changes in person one day soon!

Had about 10 people out for a birthday/reunion long weekend. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Clean, well-kept, plenty of space. Helpful and friendly owner. Some great bars in the neighborhood, an easy walk to Frenchman Street and just a little farther to the French Quarter. Highly recommended.

I stayed at the firehouse with a group of 7 guys for a bachelor party. The owner was very easy to work with, and the place was clean, neat and exactly as described. The location is perfect for getting to all of the local hot spots. The two big doors in the front slide open, and when the weather is nice it is the perfect place to hang out. We will definately be back!!

My friends and I rented the Firehouse for a bachelor party. It was the best possible place to stay for a group on vacation in New Orleans. Close to Downtown New Orleans, but far enough to not feel like you are in a city. The neighborhood was great! Plenty of local restaurants and bars in walking distance, as well as a market with everything you need a block away. There were 10 of us, but there was plenty of space to sleep comfortable. The patio area was a great addition to the Firehouse, and provided the group a private outdoor area to relax. The landlord/owner were more than accomodating to any of our needs. I would definitely stay at the Firehouse again.

The firehouse was an excellent place to stay with plenty of room for our bachelor party. The firehouse has a style to it that you just won't get staying in a cookie cutter hotel. We rented every room out and spent time hanging out in the common area where you can actually open the firehouse doors to the street if you'd like. There is a market nearby, so anything that you need is right around the corner. There are also some comfortable restaurants in walking distance as well. The owners live upstairs and are very accommodating. We didnt' see them much, but when we had a question or needed something, they were more than willing to provide for us. Bourbon is walkable during the day, but I'd suggest a cab in the evenings. We were able to get a quick cab ride to almost any attraction when we needed it. I'd definitely stay here again. It beats staying at any hotel.

We stayed in this gorgeous renovated firehouse during Mardi Gras this year. It was conveniently located near everything!! We walked to the neighborhood restaurants as well as had easy access to the French Quarter- sometimes we cabbed it, other times we walked. The owners were stellar with accommodations making sure that everything we needed we had! The firehouse was quiet at night, so we were well rested to venture during the day! We felt very at home and left wanting for nothing. The firehouse was expertly decorated and an amazing find! We stayed in the firehouse with friends and we each had our own rooms with private entrances from the main entrance. It was amazing to stay at a place that had so much history within the city. The property was immaculate with a gorgeous courtyard in the back where we sat outside during the evening and enjoyed cocktails with our friends and others staying there. Awesome treasure to find! We will definitely stay there for our upcoming trips to this great place!!
