Log Lodge - Walk to Rec Center - Great for 1 or 2 Families

Beautiful log lodge with comfort, charm and style. This is the real thing (think Ben Cartwright and the Ponderosa) with plenty of room for everyone (+3,000 SF). All the furnishings reflect the classic lodge architecture with carved posts inspired by Timberline Lodge. Our family built the lodge in 1991 and this is the first year we've offered it for rent. So we're looking for just the right guests. DCCA #718.

The house is conveniently located within a few minutes walking distance from the Glaze Meadow recreation center, which offers the best pool at Black Butte Ranch, as well as an exercise room, a sports store, a bike rental shop, and a spa. Tennis courts are also very close by. The patio behind the house overlooks a beautiful meadow, and is perfect for relaxing. The gas-fueled barbecue did unfortunately not live up to our expectations, as it delivered heat very unevenly, and was really only warm enough along its sides. The large number of bathrooms (3 full plus one separate restroom) makes the house excellent for staying multiple families together, and we felt that it scaled well for our group of nine adults and two children that stayed there for two weeks. The kitchen also provides enough plates, glasses, cutlery, etc. for such a large group. The house has a large number of bicycles, but these are unfortunately not for use by guests renting the house. If you are looking to explore the numerous bike trails around Sisters, or go road biking across the Santiam and McKenzie passes, I would however recommend renting a bike from the Eurosports store in Sisters, which offers a large selection of Specialized bikes.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We rent this wonderful log cabin for our family, and us for our son's wedding at a local ski resort. Our parent are in their 80's and really enjoyed the rustic lodging. When we arrived it was 55 degrees, the next morning we had 5 inches of snow, we also had small children with us, they enjoyed to snow and the animal decor of the log cabin.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

what a wonderful house! From the personal followups from the owners during our lead-up, to the incredibly well provisioned home itself, this place made our winter getaway a hit. You can just about see the indoor pool & spa building from the front door. The back yard has a view of woods and not someone else's house. There's a whole nook upstairs for our doggie. The fireplace is impressive, the games are fun - they even had a pencil sharpener in their Yahtzee set. All and all a wonderful trip in an amazing house. Thanks for letting us stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

My family and I recently stayed at this lovely home for a week. It was absolutely perfect for my husband and me, our two children, and our four grandchildren (ages 11-15). The home was immaculate, well-furnished, comfortable, and very easy to live in. I was particularly impressed by the kitchen--it was well-stocked with all manner of cooking equipment (e.g., a food processor) and all sorts of staple ingredients. We made good use of the nearby pool, rec center, and hiking/biking paths. Although we chose to not bring our dogs, we appreciate the dog-friendly option. I would highly recommend this property to anyone coming to Black Butte.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented this beautiful log cabin (large house) last summer and the whole family is pleading for a repeat. The house was a perfect fit for our active family. We enjoyed having the Glaze Meadow Rec center so close by, short walking distance, and plenty of tennis courts making it a very convenient location. The view out the large windows was beautiful and peaceful. The house had many wonderful details such as the carvings on the stair banisters and coordinated decorating throughout. The amenities and space were plentiful for a full family gathering. As a child I spent a few very memorable summer vacations in Black Butte and I wanted my children to enjoy Black Butte just as I did, with friends and family. This house exceeded our expectations and now my children have a cherished summer vacation memory that they would like to repeat...Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

We loved this home so much, we're almost afraid to write such a glowing review, for fear that it will get booked so fast next season we won't be able to book it! But seriously, what a wonderful, warm, inviting, clean, welcoming, perfectly-located place to stay in Black Butte... The home has so many extra amenities. The view out the back is so relaxing and the ideal place to sit and talk with friends over a cup of coffee in the morning sun. We walked easily to tennis, the GM pool, the playground, and to the bike path. The home is SO family friendly. The bunk room was heaven for our group of four kiddos. They had their own space geared just for them with three twins and a toddler size bed. Plus, there were trundle beds to choose from. The kitchen was outfitted to fit our every need and we even tried out the "antique" popcorn maker for our movie night. Our children really appreciated the extra sports and pool equipment as well. The sheets were soft, the towels were plentiful, the supply of DVDs was much appreciated too. Working with the Sabins was an absolute pleasure - what nice people to rent from. We thoroughly look forward to staying there next summer. Highly recommended for families... or even three couples without kids.. Very flexible use.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

Hi Jack, We're back from a great weekend. The weather was as good as it's been in the last three weeks. So we took part in as many activities as possible. The house was just wonderful and everyone truly enjoyed it. All the carvings were beautiful and we kept coming across something else we hadn't seen yet. Thanks for having it so well equipped and stocked. I felt at home and not just "renting" some place. We also had 8 deer in the back at one point. We had a great time, JoannRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
We built the lodge in 1991 because we wanted a place where our rather large family could gather and have fun in the outdoors. Since we're just a five minute walk from the Glaze Meadows recreation center, it's a perfect spot for the kids because they can come and go to the pool all day long. Of course the golf courses are very handy and beautiful to play even if you're a duffer. Bike paths are everywhere and we never get tired of exploring or showing folks around. At night it's great to have a fire in the big stone fireplace and read a good book or play a game of bumper pool. The floor plan is very open so we never feel crowded, even with a big gang of family and friends.
