We had an absolutely wonderful vacation! Our four kids ages 5 to 9 years old did not get bored once and we never left the home and lake! So many fish were caught! Enjoyed swimming, rowboating and paddle boating too! The lake house had everything! Inside was VERY comfortable with plenty of room. Sitting out on the patio and sunbathing on the swim raft was another favorite! Although not too far from home it felt like we were thousands of miles away... Will definitely be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

Although the temperature was unusually cool and the sun only popped out for about 10 minutes over our four day stay, we had a great time in this wonderful house. It had the feel of Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine with only a 35 minute commute from Southington. I already recommened this house to family and friends and plan to return to it myself this coming year. Things I loved: The night lighting around the windows, the beautiful view of the lake from the expansive windows, waking up in the master bedroom overlooking the lake, watching my kids have fun catching fish, reading in the room off the master bedroom, traveling to Old Saybrook and surrounding towns. The owner was very friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home in her home. Thanks for a great time.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I recently spent 4 days at this property for our annual girls birthday weekend. The house is beautiful. It is situated on a lake, and has an expansive deck with plenty of chairs and lounges for all. The furnishings are comfortable and tasteful. There is a gas fireplace in the large living room which is very cosy at night. There is a row boat and paddle boat for guests to use.The paddleboat was great for "happy hour" sunset rides! The owners of the property could not have been nicer or more hospitable. They made us feel like family. The house is quite large and has plenty of bathrooms(3)!!. The master bedroom is really special. You wake up to looking out on the lake. There is a sunroom that is part of the master suite as well. I would recommend this house as a perfect vacation getaway spot.We can't wait to return.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a great time at this vacation home in August of 2010. Two words -- placid and private -- come to mind. The property is in a beautiful location -- the rock cliff and the lake seem like two different worlds that you won't want to leave. There is a beautiful view from every window in this home, furnishings are comfortable, great seafood and Italian restaurants are very nearby. Can't wait to come back. Thanks!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

My family- myself, hubby and two adult daughters stayed here summer 2010 for a relaxing sojourn that just wasn't long enough! The weather was beautiful, and all of us enjoyed rowing and paddling on the lake, and sitting on the deck watching the pond ripples and cloud reflections. I was the only one to actually swim - mostly because the weather was so cool most days we enjoyed other activities: Exploring nearby towns, hiking in Chatfield Hollow State Park- near Killingworth on SR 80, dinner at Gabrielles in Centerbrook, and riding the steam train were all favorites. We intended to fish for the bass in the lake but didn't get to it. Did read, just hang out and cook together. The style and size of the house was perfect for us. In theory the house can accomodate up to 8 people but because of the layout- this would only work for really good friends or family members who don't mind a walk through one bedroom and bath to get to their room. The master suite was roomy with lots of closet space. The sitting room off it gave my husband private space to read and relax, without the girl talk. I called and talked with the owner- Kathy- several times and she was very helpful about all my questions. I would definitely recommend this property. We were looking for a place near I-95 in Connecticut, within range of NYC but not sunny beachfront since two of us are very pale and have sun concerns. This was ideal for us.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
