Perfection and paradise, located on dead end street on very quiet area of island.Cottage is right on a lovely sand beach, steps to water with pristine snorkeling,rays/eels/squid/nurse sharks/turtles and healthy coral.Water 80 degrees with 100 foot visibility.Sunsets seen right from cottage.Lovely landscaping , [ I needed the noni and aloe vera for my sunburn] with good bird viewing also right on property. Charming owners that provide privacy and are yet 100 % available to assist with any needs,Bob & Susan have a wonderful knowledge of the island and share their information about diving/snorkeling, hiking, birding, caving and they are both so bright and creative,it is a pleasure to visit with them. As a single woman,I felt safe at all times in the cottage, windows open at night with the sound of the waves heard, and able to walk day or night on the beach or road, never felt need to lock the doors. After many years of vacationing on Grand Cayman,I no longer stop there but rather,go straight to Cayman Brac. No traffic, crime and such beautiful nature. For photographers there are flocks of parrots, boobies, herons, egrets, pelicans ,iguanas, and of course all the underwater creatures as well. A day trip, [or two] for a visit to Little Cayman is well worth the time, only a five minute flight, and you can rent a scooter or car, kayak to Owen island,snorkel/dive Bloody Bay Wall [from shore] and you save a lot in lodging as Little Cayman is so expensive. Thank You Susan and Bob,your genuine hospitality and warmth is really what makes your rental so special and unique.I will be back soon.

Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The description of Sonscape is right on track. We have stayed there 3 times and hope to return. The apartment is comfy and just right for a place where you want to spend most of your time out doors. You can hear the waves from the bedroom and can eat your breakfast just out the door where the sand stretches down to the sea. My husband and friends have snorkeled right off this beach and there are several places on the island that have ladders and boat ramp entries for chickens like me. You will see fish and corals and manmade statuary. There are wrecks and other things to explore. The owners dive and snorkel and are always very helpful. On land there are wildlife, walking and hiking paths and caves of beautiful colored rock. The blowholes are something you'll want to see, too. The park on the West End had paths with exersize stations and the Columbus Park on the Bluff is easy walking. There are trails through the Parrot Preserve and along the edge of the Bluff where the Brown-Footed Boobies lay their eggs and raise their families. You're sure to see an iguana or 2 somewere on the island. The Market Place is a short, left-sided drive from Sonscape. You can get groceries and supplies there and pick up food from the deli for a picnic on the Bluff or beach. 2 hotels have buffets on Friday and Sunday. The hotels and bigger restaurants have local musicians in the evenings for a bit of night life. For local cuisine, we like Star Island and Paradise Desires. They know how to crack a conch and make it tender. There is a jerk chicken place just around from the Market Place. Delicious smelling smoke will advise you that it's open and the owner will tell you you'd better get some before he runs out! Don't worry, there are plenty of burgers and steak to be had. We love to end the day upstairs on the owners balcony watching the sun setting. When the conversation winds down we make our way to the beach hammocks and watch the stars come out. Cool island breezes and the music of the waves. It doesn't get any better than this. If you like to swim, snorkel, dive, hike or paint, read and nap to the music of the sea, Sonscape is your destination. Don't you hear it calling your name? Just don't take our weeks!

Our stay at Sonscape met all of our expectations. Bob and Susan were very nice and very helpful. They taught us to snorkel and had the gear for us to use. A beautiful property with your own private beach. We would recommend it to anyone and would go back.

Sonscape lives up to the description. The location and landscaping makes it a very private and relaxing place to go. After watching the sun set, we would watch the stars come out from 2 comfy hammocks and listen to the ocean. What could be better? (Maybe the beautiful sun sets) The apartment is clean and well equipped. The owners are conveniently nearby and they advised us of great locations for both the more and less experienced snorkelers. We chose to rent a car and saw most all of the island for $34.50 per day with 7th day free. We ate several times at Aunt Shar's--her Key Lime pie is wonderful! The Alexander Hotel has a lovely seafood buffet on Friday nights. The Market Place Deli is good, too. Try their breakfast or lunch on the way to the beaches or wildlife preserves. While on Cayman Brac we saw a variety of fish and corals, also iguanas, Booby birds, parrots, and frigates. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. We stayed at Sonscape 2 weeks and would definitely recommend it--except for the weeks when we want to return! (And we will return, God willing, next year.) Thanks Bob & Susan !
